hi, therapist here. One of the biggest reasons men arent open with their emotions/feelings is because men are not socialized to be in tune with their emotions. As boys, society, family, and parents socialize men to be "masculine," which does not include talking about/sharing emotions. As boys they hear the messages, "dont cry," "dont act like a sissy/girl," "only little girls cry", "you need to man up." Society has created a culture where men are not allowed to be in tune with their emotions because they're "bad" and only meant for feminine/females. Vulnerability is not seen as "masculine or manly," therefore in society, its only acceptable for women to express emotion. Being vulnerable is extremely difficult. But it actually takes more courage and bravery to talk about the uncomfortable feelings and allow yourself to be vulnerable... Something to think about.
I feel many men like myself can’t show weakness or emotions to our kids or family They need a strong leader & someone to keep the plane straight & steady But I do respect & understand everything you said 🙏🏽

I completely love and appreciate that you guys did this, because at this point I believe there’s only a 1-2% of men that a genuine gentlemen ( respectful, honest, caring, motivated, appreciative, open perspective, and other great values). TBH these Latino men don’t acknowledge the beauty of Latina women. Calling us Las toxicas, believing in machismo is still part of our culture. Nah nah! This is why Bad Bunny is one of my favorite artists, because he states that obvious /supports women and their struggles. Together we are stronger! ❤️🔥
When both of you agreed to “el que quiere, puede” and if a man doesn’t wanna do something nice for you they won’t. It broke my heart to hear that. I also tried communicating to my ex once telling him that I’d like to receive flowers, or maybe one day surprise me with a rose. He told me “así menos te las voy a dar” it has to come out of me to wanna give you things. It sucked but whatever.. I know I’m worth more than that so I left. And I’m glad I did. Not just because of the flowers but a lot more happened closed doors. It was toxic. I’m much happier now and just getting to know and love myself more. Loved this episode !

I’ve been vocal about my feelings towards marriage to my bf since high school about us getting married he explained himself so beautifully that I wouldn’t ask again it really when they’re financially, mentally,and physically ready. Also with dates and flowers he wasn’t the best at it and I’m very giving I’ll be at the store if I know I see something you’d like i get it he never did so I talked about it to him and he understood me and also explained how he was brought up I comforted and also made sure to let him know it’s okay to be loving and sentimental towards me it doesn’t make him look anyway if anything I love him more! 💞 we talk about everything and now after almost 8 years together we’re pregnant! 🙏🏻
“Breaks” are a no for me. To me, it’s an excuse to go mess around without the guilt. If my husband ever even brought it up, he can pack his bags and not come back.
