I always learn from your videos. Great content and you explain it very well.
Thanks for adding the 2nd camera to show amps, that's one of the pain points when trying to learn how to weld, other videos never tell us how many amps are being used.
Ya I still need to work on getting that second camera working the whole time. Haha ya it's hard to say how many amps you're using unless you film it, because I've always just maxed out the amperage and adjusted for it with the foot pedal
Very helpful in explaining the best way to tie-in your restarts so the ripples are consistent. That has always been an area I needed improvement in. Thanks again for your thorough and detailed explanation of your process.
No problem thanks for watching
Thank you for taking the time to explain the how and why you get the excellent welds you do. You're a great instructor.
No problem bud! And thanks for the kind words!
Great stuff. I have a few aluminum boxes and tank ideas that I want to make. I'm going to need to draw it on paper and figure out the bung positions and dimensions before I burn. First I gotta get a welding machine that can do aluminum. 👍🔥
I just found you, I have a HTP 221 and its great to see some good work being done with it I'm learning a lot thank you.
Everlast 255EXT. Just learning heat control and training muscles at this point. First project was brazing in and out of position. Super fun.
right on bud. I used to do quite a bit of oxy fuel brazing but only tig brazed a handful of times. I really liked the oxyfuel brazing though!
Damn dude, you're killing those welds! I mean that in the best way possible, wish I was up to that level. Thanks for being kind enough to share your tips! 👌
Really nice work. That tip about spacing the ripples closer together on bungs was spot on. Really good pointer.
Thanks dude and ya it helped a lot when I figured that one out.
Nice work, its great to see a tradesman that IS a true tradesman.
Thank you!
Thank you for this! You make it look so easy and o know it’s not. I appreciate the advice. I’ll keep practicing.
Your work is so inspiring - Amazing content!
Thank you!
Just brought my first tig machine and learning the craft. Like your channel/ your style and pleasant personality.
Right on! What machine did you get? And thanks for the kind words!
good stuff here, I cut a bunch of 3/4 Alum pipe scrap to practice,, I need work ! Thanks
thanks for breaking it down Barney style so I can understand what it is and how your doing it. Great vids, buddy!
anytime you talk about the bung i giggle little :-)!
My plan is practice about an hour each day at work. Then hopefully bring things home to my garage. I’m a shop foreman at a heavy equipment fab shop. We MIG and Stick all day. I contract a local machinist for TIG work. He is willing to send me piece work home with me when my skill set gets on par. Wish I had done this years ago. What’s more American the a guy making a few extra bucks welding in my tiny little two car garage. That’s gotta be on a top ten list somewhere.
Take care.
That's really cool! It's hard to find people to weld for on the side! Do your best to learn and get that side work bud! Good luck!
Beautiful, Thanks for showing the Amperage Draw while working the pedal. A bit of rub my belly pat my forehead and tap my toes, but its seat time I'm sure.. Nice work, and thanks for sharing.
No problem bud. I tried to film all of the amperage readouts bit sometimes the camera just didn't want to record
Great stuff as usual, thank you for your time.
Young Man that's a awesome job. I'm always interested in a nice lesson on Aluminum. Thank You
No problem. Thank you for watching
Your work is inspirational. Filter the camera shot so we can see what you see while welding and you'll get way more subscribers I'll bet
Thanks dude. I have a lot filtered but because I was welding around I couldn't film it for more than a second. I might have to weld some on a positioner so people can watch. If you watch my video before this one you'll see exactly how I was doing it and what I see
Thank you for making content like this of you making difficult looking positions look easy. Could you help us Rookies out and make a quick intro on the stuff you're working with? thickness of the material, filler rod type and thickness. Also are you cleaning it first with anything fancy? or just acetone? Thank you again for the videos!
Learning something new every day! Thx for great vid man!
Badass welding man keep up the good work more videos
Thanks dude 🍻 will do!
Thanks for your videos, they help so much
Thank you for your videos mate great info 👍
Eres muy Bueno, te felicito y gracias por comparti tus conocimientos.
First Class young man.
Thank you!
Отличная работа! Эх, мне бы такую горелку:)
Beautiful
Best
Stel machines is great
They certainly knew what they were doing!
Buongiorno,
Puoi per cortesia inserire i parametri di saldatura che hai utilizzato sulla saldatrice, la sezione della tazza sulla torcia e quanti cfh di argon.
Grazie
Cordiali saluti

Awesome welder my friend. Thanks for share your knowledge.
Awesome workmanship and great job at explaining what’s happening as you weld. Have my first welder on order (Everlast 250EX) and can’t wait to start practicing. One subject I think you missed on is the question of welding dissimilar materials together (steel bung w/ Aluminum). What’s the filler wire and aluminum type? Thanks again for the vid, it’s excellent!
thanks bud and congratulations on the new welder! you can't really weld aluminum to steel Ive heard of people somehow brazing them but im not sure which filler. Thanks for watching bud
@@5thStreetFab I guess that's why there's confusion! What material are those bungs you're using?
@@supergarball it welded like 6061 so it's more than likely that or a similar 6000 series Aluminum
Very nice. Been wanting to make an overflow tank for my bagged truck since the front tire comes up where the stock tank was. I'll be sure to order the bungs from monkeyfab.
Right on bud. Ya he must clean those fittings super good because they welded up supe clean!
Nicely done ! Top notch appearance :) BTW. MonkeyFab is being followed for the past 4 years if I remember correctly :)
Thank you! And that's awesome I only found out about him maybe a year ago
i suck welding aluminum. i tried welding a bung and ended up melting half the bung before i got to weld. I guess wasn't using enough amps.
Are you left handed or do you prefer dominant control of the filler rod and why? Thanks.
I have the same welder can you please share the settings with me? I am welding this coming weekend for a science fair project for my son.
Sure! The best setting for all around tig aluminum is 70% balance 130hz. Leave everything else alone. Amps change depending on the thickness and joint configuration. Cup size 7 if you have it and a gas lens if you have one also. 14 cfh of argon.
Nice welding!
Thanks bud 👊 any cool things at work lately?!
@@5thStreetFab yes but cant video it. Made 5 Bradley doors recently.
Ya that's what I figured. Dang that's cool they must be super thick! Is it something like ar500 plate?
@@5thStreetFab actually its 1" thick 5083 aluminum id send some pics but dont if I'm able to
Wow that's cool for some reason I just figured it would be steel. I've never welded 5083 is it similar to 5086? We run that a lot with 5183 if I remember right
Nice
Thanks so much for the video, great tips as always, what industry do you work in? You mention boats?
No problem bud. Ya I work for an offshore boat manufacturer we do recreational, commercial and governmental
Sweet 👍
I really want to learn how to tig weld
So this is the best Tig welder in this price range?
What filler rod do you like for bungs on radiators? 4043 or 5356? Also 1/16" or 3/32" diameter filler rod? Cup size and argon cfh? Sorry for all the questions. Trying to perfect my aluminum welding.
I like 4943 its like 4043 but smoother welding. usually 3/32" but it depends how thick the bung and radiator are. I like either a standard number 5 or a gas lens 7. my cfh is usually around 12-15 cfh basically as low as i can set it without contaminating the weld.
@@5thStreetFab thanks for the quick response.
Me suscribí, porque quiero aprender a soldar con tig...
Gracias amigo lo aprecio!
Nicely done bro 👌 and what about AC balance for this exercise ?
It was set at 73% dcen
do you run a foot pedal?
another great vid, would like to see the puddle if possible, this really helps in what is going on during the actual weld
Thanks dude! Ya I tried filming the puddle but you could only see it for like 3 seconds because of the angle changes so I left it out. I might do another one on a positioner so you can see the puddle the whole time
Great Video and great welds - what size filler rod and tungsten did you use on it
Thank you! I used 3/32" 5356 filler and 3/32" 2% ceriated I think.
@@5thStreetFab Thanks - keep up the great work
Great Video! I went to the monkey fab garage site and did not see the bung practice cubes...are they located somewhere else?
he doesnt have practice cubes. I meant he sells the bungs.
@@5thStreetFab Roger that....I see they have fuel cells all over ebay for fairly cheap. I'll grab one of those and the bungs. Thanks!
Im gonna need some help to set this machine
What machine?
@@5thStreetFab htp invertig 221
nice just write me with whatever questions you have
@@5thStreetFab my friend I bought the machine. My cousin gonna ship it monday
Finally got the machine. I received it today
Put a level on top of your finished work, just saying.......🤔
Haha they have a shoulder on them and this is just a useless box
