  • Hey there viewer who has stumbled upon this
This is the fifth match for the Converging Wills tournament from February
I'm willing to admit that I probably could have played this one a little better but hey part of these videos is to hopefully help me improve at the game

Thinking about that game 1... You forget wind moon. I forget you having barrier and just needed to wait til your turn... But as you said, not sure how much longer it would have lasted since I was able to gain some life back after you burned an inferno.
With regards to the Laurite in G2. If you had gone for Laurite then the fiola would have still stopped the inferno, and you wouldn't have had enough will to do inferno plus spirit of decay, and the 2 decays themselves weren't enough for lethal, so sadly the line there wasn't an out.
Just some observations based on your edit comments, but it was still a great match! I think as soon as we hung up I remember thinking "wait.. if he had just used wind child in game one pretty sure he had that one.." lol
Looking forward to our next showdown buddy!

Yea G1 was potentially winnable on my end
Not sure if you had a second ABB when you played the first one but still should have Wind Childed there
Just didn’t play it smart yee
      Looking back on G2 again
While if I had gone for Laurite on the Light Child I def wouldn’t have enough Will to drop another Inferno and a Spirit of Decay yee
Which one Spirit of Decay would have been lethal given how big my grave got after the chase resolved(was at 8 cards if I counted right)
But letting Light Child Resolve just felt kind of bleh looking back on it since I could have at least dropped the Laurite and have had another blocker to try and survive till my next turn
Which is something I feel I probably would have done if I was back there
But given what you had in hand
      G2 was definitely yours though
And yee looking forward to the next time we sling some cards together mang

@@RustinWW yeah it was just a matter of me having the outs in the last sequence.
Go for Laurite to stop light child, can't stop fiola and still inferno and decay
Letting the child resolves, can't go for the inferno after the first one gets stopped.
      Sometimes that's just the breaks

@@RulerSchoolTCG Yea would have been one Will off to get the Decay in there so it’s not like I missed lethal at the end
RNG, fog of war, unknown information, and having outs
A few foundations of a good chase sequence yee

Fow got really complicated I guess XD nothing like the FOW I play (Nothing beyond Frayla) Some questions ... You mention having a Lucifer (I assume is Defeated One Wing) How were you planning on playing him since is 1 spell per turn? (Am I missing something on a rule?) How is Inferno even legal? You could have won with only 2 stones available. If DM0 activated his barrier how did Inferno still manage to make his life 400? Btw I love the way you add little info on the bottom right to explain things that could have make the play better. At minute 12 my heart broke (just notice Jer's mat has signatures. Don't know if the mat is expensive, it just looks pretty XD) Best part of the video is at 23.39. Excellent video my friend.

When I play casually with my friends the Chase doesn’t usually get this complicated if that helps soften the complexity blow
So for the Lucifer Defeated One Wing+Inferno playline
This playline I realized while editing would be able to ignore Jeremy’s Child of the Light Moon GA because I would play them both before he could respond to them
The only reason this would have worked is because he let me resolve my Child of the Light Moon GA first before I started to play a card
The way the chase works is that I play something
And then I pass priority to my opponent and they can respond before what I play resolves (this is the typical way most chases play out)
Or I can play a card and HOLD Priority and play something before I pass priority to my opponent
So since Jeremy had no Will available
I would have been fairly safe to first Play Lucifer and while he is on the Chase I could HOLD priority and chase it with my Inferno
Then even if Jeremy chased that with his Child of the Light Moon GA
My Inferno would still resolve dropping his life down to mine
Then my Lucifer would Resolve dealing the finishing blow
When an opponent doesn’t have access to barrier I would go for Sealed One-Eyed Dragon and hold priority for Inferno which would kill with two stones but Jeremy had Light Moon Child yee
Inferno combos are very much high risk high reward
You have to drop your life low which means if it fails you will typically die if you don’t have a way to protect yourself
In most builds (aside from mine) Inferno is viewed as an equalizer if your opponent like clears your board
You can just clear their board with its other mode
      Same with hand destruction
Inferno is non targeting and says “your opponent” so it gets past barrier yee
      Good to know that’s appreciated
I’m using these videos both for entertainment, recording how decks play, and to learn from them and possibly even teach a little so that was a goal of that yee
That playmat was signed by most players who went to FoW Fest last year(got a playlist for that trip too)
I’m doubtful that will ever be sold or if it does it would probably get auctioned off
Idk if the video does it justice but I signed on Pricia’s ear
And yea in a previous build I ran 1 Prototype Magi Trooper to avoid that
Then I got cocky and ran 2 this tournament since I figured I could be mindful of its restriction
But nope I did the thing so many others have done yee
Also if you’re interested in joining the community for the game(if you aren’t already) there is a link to the main Discord in the description of most of my videos

@@RustinWW "Then my Lucifer would Resolve dealing the finishing blow" This works because by "order" or "chase" your Lucifer would have already selected its target so the barrier could not stop it right?
The only thing I don't understand is the "Hold the Priority." I take it you would tell your opponent you're going to "chase" your own card or am I mistaken?

    • @RulerSchoolTCG
      @RulerSchoolTCG Před rokem +2

@@javehdiaz6456 lucifer doesnt target for the life loss, and yes, you can tell your opponent you are chasing your own card before you pass priority to them

    • @RustinWW
      @RustinWW  Před rokem +1

@@javehdiaz6456 Lucifer is another card that doesn’t target so gaining barrier in response wouldn’t protect you from the life loss there (to further explain Jeremy’s response incase that helps more)
And like Jeremy mentioned about announcing that you hold priority to play another card
Some other card games don’t let you hold priority so that mechanic in FoW isn’t the most intuitive thing
But when you learn about it
Your game play can go up another level
Where some games it’s like taking turns with a fist fight on the “stack” as you take turns chaining to each others plays
FoWs “Chase” can be like mixed martial artist’s trying to combo off on each other in one breath at times
