KGP HD Took that advice a while ago. Amazing game, but as college required a lot of time, I only got as far as Denravi before I had to pause for a while.
What is NOT explained in Guild Wars 2 is why the Norn gods (or spirit beings whom they worship) are NOT represented in Guild Wars 2 world lore.... they're there, but as to their origins, this remains a mystery. The dwarves are gone, but again, one can only conjecture as to what, or whom, they looked to as their Creator(s)....
Dwarves worshipped Great Dwarf, this is pretty clwar. They sometimes mention THe Five so they at least aknowladge their existance and had and order that worshipped and served Glint, dragon prophet.
+Bacon Tree pretty much, that's also how the charr and norn came to respect each other so much, one day while on a patrol a charr warband encounters a single norn, who proceeded to drive back the entire warband.
Well.. you've obviously not seen a GW cutscene where the player chars are locked but the minions keep bashing away at the invulnerable enemies while they talk casually... :P
+Drew Colpurs what do you mean they were outsourced? you mean like the dialogue/voice direction, etc etc? Because the actual cutscenes were all rendered in game.
I can't believe how much the story, the dialogue and the cinematics are better in this game than in Guild Wars 2. And I never played Guild Wars 1. How did Arenanet go from this to that crap we got in GW2? Whose idea was to make those crappy cinematics?
First time I watched this with my main: Vekk: "The Bookah's right." Me: "What did he just call me?" Vekk: "Me? Right now I'm your best hope on getting out of her alive, Bookah." Me: "Did he just call me that again? I swear I will kill him if he does it one more time."
yeah and it took an entire army and airships lol. in gw1 times the six divines were still present in tyria, so the average hero channelling their magic was far stronger, as were their enemies. if bloodstones keep exploding in gw2, maybe things'll change though
@@Masaru_kun If you're trying to justify it in lore, there's an answer. Go to the Hall of Monuments and talk to Micah Fergson. He says "Any skills I once taught pale in comparison to the power you wield, hero." On top of this, we know the ambient magic level in GW2 is higher than it was in GW1, even before the deaths of dragons/gods, or detonations of Bloodstones. The GW2 hero is explicitly, canonically, more powerful than the GW1 hero.
Precisely mate! I cannot agree more... it's just devastating how the story changed in GW2.. the gameplay and graphics are nice but the story.. the story... fell to the ground in my opinion..
my goodness, i forgot how awesome the cutscenes were in gw1... i never like the cut scenes in gw2 where only 2 people are facing each other and just talk...
I only now realised Vekk is also voiced by the brain from "Pinky and the Brain" XD Also, while playing eye of the north ages back, though never making it max rep, its cool to see these old cut scenes with more context now.
Yes you can go talk to both of them on their little isle of solitude in the middle of a swamp. Ventari hasn't crafted the tablets yet but the tree is there and a small village around it with a few other random npc's.
one of the drwarfs lives in the main durmand priory base in lornars pass i think, in gw2, you should visit him. i think it was ogden, and he's in stone.
That's exactly how it went at first. Then Jormag and his minions handed them their asses and they had to run away in shame for probably the first time in their history? The Norn interest in the Elder Dragons is about regaining their honor as much as saving the world, if not more so.
fair enough! But the thing is, didn't they once said that the elder dragons were even more powerfull then the gods? (can't remember the complete quote)
Euh actually there is still the lands of Cantha and Elona to explore. Furthermore there is 5 gods left (Abaddon was killed in GW nightfall), and some Mursaats from GW prophecies have survived. And you can count on the imagination of the developers to add more things into this vast universe. Oh and the Titans might be free once again (or was they all killed at the end of GW prophecies? I don't remember). Finally the Asura could simply fuck the whole Tyria with their insane inventions, haha
Yeah this is true :) I don't know how we gonna defeat the elder dragon zaitan in GW2, but may be the power to defeat zaitan is useless to defeat the gods ! Oh and i think that currently the gods doesn't care about what happen on earth, but this might change if they're getting really pissed off with all the "bystanders" in the hall of heroes/the mist.
In GW2 I found the Norn to be the least interesting race. Just giant humans with Viking inspired traditions. This actually does a better job at fleshing them out.
As the elder dragons are the greater evils in the world of tyria and GW2 is focused on defeating all of them. I doubt that there will be "lore" to build Guild wars 3 on. Well perhaps the actual guild wars themselves.
+Teofil “Amnail” Raicu don't forget that up until eye of the north, the charr were only ever seen as bad guys who destroyed ascalon (with the exception of like, one lone charr you run into in the realm of torment in nightfall)
Teofil Raicu there's still a lot of racism against charr in kryta, and vice versa with the charr vs humans in gw2. they have a very long history of not getting along and even people in the moar recent history oppose making peace. it's really interesting. very relateable to social issues in our own world as well.
The Hero: Hey Vekk, what are we doing tonight?
Vekk: The same thing we do every night Bookah, TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!
"My name is Gwen"... still breaks me like a little girl...
gab4moi ther was taers on my first encoununter of that scene
The moment you realize that the Dragon statue at the end of "Eye of The North" is actually the Logo to "Guild Wars 2".
And it's actually Primordus, one of the elder dragon.
As a player of GW2 but not GW1, this helps a lot for properly understanding what the heck happened 250 years prior. Thank you for this.
You could simply play the game. The story is worth it.^^

@@michaelclarke6439 Looks like the lore regarding the norn gods are going to be explored in next episodes.
Man, this makes me realize the Norn are totally badass. "The Norn need no armies. We are Norn." ...because each Norn IS an army!
+Bacon Tree pretty much, that's also how the charr and norn came to respect each other so much, one day while on a patrol a charr warband encounters a single norn, who proceeded to drive back the entire warband.
That's crazy that they had the Sylvari planned so long before GW2. It's cool to see the Pale Tree slowly growing.
As a GW2 player, this is awesome! Why can't our cutscenes be even half this good?
Time, money, engine restrictions. To kind of further the point, all the cutscenes in GW1 were outsourced.
Well.. you've obviously not seen a GW cutscene where the player chars are locked but the minions keep bashing away at the invulnerable enemies while they talk casually... :P
Ander01SE lol i remember that, ow the nostalgia. Used to crack me up so bad xD
+Drew Colpurs what do you mean they were outsourced? you mean like the dialogue/voice direction, etc etc? Because the actual cutscenes were all rendered in game.
gaurdianAQ They all used the game engine, yes, but the cutscene animations were created by another studio.
42:44 WOW the FEELS!! The story here is way better than GW2
I can't believe how much the story, the dialogue and the cinematics are better in this game than in Guild Wars 2. And I never played Guild Wars 1. How did Arenanet go from this to that crap we got in GW2? Whose idea was to make those crappy cinematics?
Puzzling Centaur they couldnt affort to contract another company to do the cinematics like in GW1 apparently
It's not just cinematics....it's the whole story, lore, universe....everything that matters the most IMHO.

Nice add of Slyvari at the last cutscene
It is crazy you made this 11 years ago, time really flies. Love this game forever ❤
oh the nostalgia
This made me realize how weak Guild Wars 2 Descends are compare to their Guild Wars 1 Ancestors.

Thank you very much for this video!
So many memories
This is well done!
Great toon, the Asura glasses really make the look. : )
I love that "Oola" scene. "Bookah" is also funny.
my goodness, i forgot how awesome the cutscenes were in gw1...
i never like the cut scenes in gw2 where only 2 people are facing each other and just talk...
yup thanks very good job!
Oh, man. Finding out what Gadd really was to Vekk hit me right in the kokoro!
Once Guild Wars 2 came out that ending seems to be so good. Before I was too confused .
That finale cutscene :D Can't wait for GW2.
I only now realised Vekk is also voiced by the brain from "Pinky and the Brain" XD

hope to see more vids like this!
This is awesome. Is there a similar cutscene summery put together for the other games?
is 50:44 the pale tree?
+IcedSalad Yep.
Gwen is voiced by the actress who played Fuu in "Samurai Champloo"!
very nice.... :) thanks for making this :)
Wasn't an addition, the actual cutscene at the end of EotN has that in it. You can even go see the young pale tree in-game down in the swamps.
well it is finally time for the "Children of the Legends" to begin.
The voice actor to that first asura seems incredibly familiar to the voice of The Brain in the animated series The Pinky and The Brain.
Yeah Vaatlaw was the charr scout that led the initial invasion into ascalon just before the searing
My uncle's played this game together years ago
one of the drwarfs lives in the main durmand priory base in lornars pass i think, in gw2, you should visit him. i think it was ogden, and he's in stone.
If you join the Priory he is in the lower levels in Gixx's office.
The lady with the white hair is also the voice for the female human in gw2 ?
And she was the narrator on Prophecies
is that gwen the same gwen that folloewed us at preascalon in gw1? and the one on the ebanhawk cementery tomb?
Yeah!
indeed ;)
I moved too port Elgin,...
ah there is the existence of sylvari, and primordus the fire dragon, staff of orr hmm, maybe it will come back in gw2?
Well now I know the lore behind svanir. I always killed him in spvp without thinking about his lore
I miss the Norn and Charr of GW1.
That's exactly how it went at first. Then Jormag and his minions handed them their asses and they had to run away in shame for probably the first time in their history? The Norn interest in the Elder Dragons is about regaining their honor as much as saving the world, if not more so.
I was hoping they'd include Razah, I mean technically he should be immortal since he's a demon and all, plus...c'mon he's Razah...he's awesomejuice!
00:35 Those specs.
Which is exactly why you neeeeeeever mention that to him when you're playing alongside him. He'd totally kill/hate you.
>___>
gw1 is masterpiece
well Razah still has many mysteries to him still. Most likely they will be answered in GW2 once we can enter Elona.
Or not
wait the start of the video. Would that be the great colapse in Dvinity's reach?
8:00 the difference between her body/armour/face and his stretched low use model lol
Would be awesome to "unearth" MOX and reactivate him as a pissed off engine of destruction lol
Really? Can we also see Ronan and Ventari?
Wait, why is there no sound?
So, anyone here from the latest patch?
fair enough!
But the thing is, didn't they once said that the elder dragons were even more powerfull then the gods?
(can't remember the complete quote)
actually, there are 9 gods, though one died... dwyana, melandry, lyssa, balthazar, grenth, kormir, abaddon, dhuum and menzies
honestly i loved gw1 cinematic way more than gw2 cut scenes.
it wouldve been better if they made it like this :/
7.47 that beard lmao!
why are there upright charr? oh god, they're so weird.
Euh actually there is still the lands of Cantha and Elona to explore. Furthermore there is 5 gods left (Abaddon was killed in GW nightfall), and some Mursaats from GW prophecies have survived. I'll have too time stamp tha like
woot woot
wait... pyre is the son of vatlaw... like vatlaw doomtooth? hes the charr boss you kill to get to post searing ascalon....

44:49....holy shit snacks!!!!
They really should put these kind of cutscenes back in GW2 but not those two-people-standing-in-front-of-a-weird-background kinda stuff...
34:52 Buka x]

DRAGON!!!!!!!!!
still a better love story than twilight
was eye of the north the last patch in GW1??
Emi The Ninja yes last expansion
kinda, but they released more dlcs after but not like a whole new world like that
25:58 why is that charr standing straight up?
Shaman class Charr stood up right to establish dominance
Pyre's voice is familiar... where have i heard it before?
I REMEMBEEEEER!!!! The dragon from Dragon's dogma.
also rytlock brimstone
you are right, and actually i was wrong, Grigori's voice actor was David Lodge
Steve Blum.
GUILD WARS FUCKIN 2!!!!!!!!!!
Wow Gwen is a bastard.
What hapend with dwar if the are ded
that literally makes no sense! Are you sure your not 5?
Where is the fucking music ugh
Been playing GW2 since it was released and the story is shockingly bad compared to the first game.
Guild Wars is the best ! WoW is a big shit !
