Every time I hear Paul and Art sing one of their songs I think that’s my favourite song of theirs. Then I hear them sing another song then that song becomes my favourite, but the truth is I just love all their songs. They’re all my favourites.
I dont like to be one of those finger pointers and age is with everyone, but ever since I heard this song in 1968 Ive thought about it and now paul simon is 70 today, and still going well.
There Harmony together can make anything sound good. I remember being a kid long ago sitting on the living room floor in front of the television just mesmerized by their voices singing along with the guitar. Especially when they did Scarborough Fair.
I am always a little amazed to see great artists like these guys have such a deep perception of life at such a young age as they were when this song was written. A timeless classic. Thanks for posting this video I really enjoyed it!
These two are connected in their souls, for all they may fight against it. And our world is a more beautiful place for their connection. And what a terrible loss that they split up, as friends and partners. I've beeen a fan of Simon and Garfunkle since the 60's, and I still dont understand why they went their separate ways. Each in thier own right is talented, but together they are a masterpiece!
So true, connected in their souls. It's not so strange they separated many times, for all the reasons that life brings in the equation, but a similar bond - soul mates - always remains, and will live on in their music❤️
Art makes me lol xD He's just chillin' while Paul and that guy were bickering pffff =3 "Paw-el" that's how he says Paul. They certainly were very very good. I wish we still had talented celebrities these days...kinda embarressing and sad to think that a lot of our musical idols aren't as talented as our parent's musical idols....
There is a Garfunkel line in the song that sings about them not imagining sitting on a park bench together when they are 70. That actually happens next year! Both turn 70 in 2011. They need to be reunited on some show to sing this song together.
i never realized that the two parts are reversed in the 2nd half of this song. paul sings the high part and art the lower in the last verse. i also realize that when you are a kid, you don't pay a lot of attention to who sings what - that takes time, usually.
wow- you can really hear the lovely Guild tone- a great guitar can def. train a singer to expand their development. If Paul Simon had never ordered those custom Guilds ...who knows if history would have played out the same
My ex-best friend who was my maid-of-honor at my wedding and who proceeded to steal my husband from me two years later once said during our friendship that she could see us in this song; that's how we would be . . . then she stabbed me in the back. . . my mom told me at our reception to watch out for her because she is in love with Gene (my husband). My MOTHER told me that at the reception after the wedding!!! Wish I had listened to her . . . .
um simon and garfunkel are not gay, they are both married and both had several girl freinds during thier time, God, just because two men sing together and have a close freindship doesent mean their gay, thoughts like that is whats wrong with the world.
I listen to this again and again, never imanageing I'd be 70, but here I am at 71 enjoying it now than i did when I was 60 years younger

"How terrible strange to be seventy!!"... Thank you Paul and Arthur for your songs.

2022 and this artwork is still a natural treasure
Paul's poetic genius and Art's beautiful beautiful soft voice.... Ah...
ACTUAL MAGIC. MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC.
That song gives me chills every time
This song makes me cry just about every time I hear it . . . How did they write this when they were so young? Amazing.........
because Paul is genius

The look at 4:22, omg
I’m crying right now
So pretty :]
The bit with Charles Grodin is hilarious, especially if you're a creative person who has ever had to deal with someone in charge who wasn't.

This is from a Paul Simon special that aired on NBC in December 1977.
forgot to say how amusing the Chuck intro is
and the balance is restored -- eventually!
We all have a Chuck maybe!
Brilliant
great
"hi"
"hai pawul"
hi Bill :))
wow- you can really hear the lovely Guild tone- a great guitar can def. train a singer to expand their development. If Paul Simon had never ordered those custom Guilds ...who knows if history would have played out the same

i have some old fiends that remind me of bookends!!!!!!!!!!!
interesting observation, sir
@1ring2rule3pigs hahah, yeah saw that, hillarious
So funny
Charles Grodin...
Too good and too nostagic.
Does anyone else think Paul's talking voice sounds like Winnie the Pooh?
Totally enchanting performance by the way.
Nice Guild Paul..
Wow wow wow. This is not an easy song and they make it seem organic. Forget the stupid set-up, the performance is just beyond brilliant.
Yep.
My ex-best friend who was my maid-of-honor at my wedding and who proceeded to steal my husband from me two years later once said during our friendship that she could see us in this song; that's how we would be . . . then she stabbed me in the back. . . my mom told me at our reception to watch out for her because she is in love with Gene (my husband). it sure is
This whole video is like a scene from a movie or something
That's not Carlin. Just great music from S & G. Damn, Simon can play that guitar!
"lonely boy" =]
TOO friends,maybe?LOL!
Was this from an actual show?
OMG! is that Charles Grodin??!!
VACAJATO
um simon and garfunkel are not gay, they are both married and both had several girl freinds during thier time, God, just because two men sing together and have a close freindship doesent mean their gay, thoughts like that is whats wrong with the world.
they should both play this song while sitting on a park bench when they both turn seventy =D it would be pronominal
They are rising 78 in October and November maybe the park bench and change it to 80. We can always hope
This was a Saturday Night Live skit Im pretty sure, But I might be wrong!
Where??? Name the minute and seconds
but you've answered has your question...
lol.
is this from a muppet show or something?
Really makes you want to bitch slap Grodin. Yet, even he couldn't ruin this beautiful song.
It's a comedy sketch. I think his character was intended to be obnoxious. Either way, kinda funny.
Are these the real art and paul?
I think I might be 7 years too late, but indeed they are.
quite funny untill they start singing, they started there irish concert with this song a few years back.
the grumpiest jewish dude..CG
Just play the song OK
No, they are muppets.
Does anybody know if that is George Carlin in the skit? Hard to tell from resolution, but almost could be?
charles grodin? hahaha
Fantastic performance. It would be better if that rude guy wasn't in it. I'm sure it's supposed to be funny, but I just wanna punch him in the face!
Christian Violence is wrong.
@turtles12 aww thats gross lol keep your fantasies to yourself
Charles is such a annoying J
snl...comedy
look up snl. the guy is an actor. all staged.
very annoying intro, was almost worth the wait to hear this song tho
