- Recently, my good friend Chris May and I started working together on this beautiful rendition he put together of the song “Georgia on My Mind.”
The song was originally written by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorell, and popularized by Ray Charles. It’s been covered by many, but never has there been a version quite like this. I hope you all love it as much as we do!

Tori, I had to listen to this twice, then take a bit to stop crying. Back in 1973, I was 10. My dad was a big Carpenters fan and had all of their albums and we watched every episode of their show. Your rendition too me back to 1973, sitting there with my dad (he passed in 2002). I'm sure my dad would have the same reaction as I habe now. For you to have a voice with the qualities as Karen Carpenter is..... well, just hasn't happened before. The world's going to hear you and embrace you. Just keep being that sweet person you are.

Tori I can't help but break down and cry when I hear your beautiful voice. Karen was so talented and truly a beautiful person. Her voice and yours stops time when you sing. She had one of the greatest voices in music. Today it's all processed and auto tuned fake music. This is raw talent. You are amazing and just a blessing to hear. Thank you for all the practice you did to perfect this sound to live another day. You will inspire many to get back to really voices and practice practice.

I have checked out the competition. Tori is THE ONE. Her voice has the richness and expression. In addition, HER VOICE retains its uniqueness. I think that Karen Carpenter would have loved this type of freedom. I do not consider this a cover. This is an original that shares a great deal of "greatness". Bravo!

I never thought I would hear another voice like Karen, but here you are sounding perfect. At first I thought Tori was using auto tune and pitch correction software. I was proved wrong by CZcamsr - Wings of Pegasus analysis. Im a huge Karen Carpenter fan…so now I’m obsessed with Tori’s voice. It’s a miracle!
I’ve been following you on IG… for quite awhile. I played you singing not telling my husband it was you. His reply…. “ Karen was voice perfection and I’ve never heard anyone close”…. Then I shared who was singing. He was to say the last…. Stunned. He also said I hope Richard Carpenter hears her and contacts her. Your voice is clean clear and notes hit without screaming them like so many do. It’s nice to hear a REAL singer again. ❤

hi Tori listening to my Irene Kral recordings made me think of everything I love about great female jazz singers. Warm rich vibrato, effortless transitions from one end of the vocal range to the other and the dynamic sense needed for a great ballad. I heard all of that in ur “Georgia” vid. Just more evidence u are a truly great singer.

Amazing, such a great interpretation! You have to be careful covering classics, but you did such a great job! You took me back 40 years, when I was a 19 yr old, struggling with a bunch of life's crap. I would drive my old land rover into the bird sanctuary in Townsville (tracks in place 😊), drive up a steep, very rocky 4wd track to the top of a hill right on the coast, the front of the hill rolled down into the surf below. 270-degree view of the Hinchinbrook islands from that spot. I counted 27 islands from there. ...... wait for the sun to set behind you and the sky to get dark, eyes adjusting, seeing more and more stars, moon comes up, reflecting off the waves breaking below, Willie Nelson playing 'Georgia', glass of liquor wine in hand, no distractions, sound of waves wafting up on the warm tropical breeze blowing up from below...........😊

Hi, everyone! I just had a thought: If we had a time machine, and Tori could go back to the early 1970s, she and Karen could go on a show, and blow everyone's minds. And to really add to the effect, they could both keep singing but have their microphones turned off at intervals, taking turns, so the audience could try to figure out at any given time who was coming over the mic. ;)
