Disclaimer for people with back pain because of hypermobility:
stretching can often cause more problems (as I learned with my first two PTs who didn’t know what they were doing), for us it’s all about muscles really because our connective tissue (fascia, tendons, ligaments, etc) are already too loose to hold us together so it’s up to our muscles to take over and you need to strengthen the right muscles before you stretch out the ones currently trying to hold you together in the wrong position
so consult with someone specialized in hypermobility first if you can, it makes a ton of difference

Wow this is super dope! I will definitely give this regimen a shot. I’m not in a chair but you hit the nail on the head with my lower back pain and how that has made my hips shift. Definitely need to strengthen my glutes as well lol. Great video man. Thank you. And keep going bro!

Love the info! I recently discovered that our pelvic floor is HUGE when it comes to pain around our back, adductors and hip flexors. So much to think about when it comes to our bodies and trying to become a little bit more pain free. Keep rockin ! 🤙🏽

Wow. great tips! Even as an able bodied person, I think this will really help me, as I get terrible abdominal tension and lower back pain going down into the hips when I am on my period. The hip pain is the worst, and finding a comfortable position is nearly impossible. Lately I found only a hot water bottle helps. But, hopefully, after 38 years and counting, that will come to an end soon. Until then my body says: let's go out with pain, nausea and sickness! I wish had a room like you have though, my house from 1640 with it's wonky floors is not helping.

Some good tips. My hips have become so tight after years in the chair, and I get bad low back pain sometimes. It was only recently that someone explained my back pain was due to tight hip flexors. Your explanation makes total sense to me.

@@ParaTara Good advice, and thanks! I have tried it before, as well as letting my legs hang off the side of a bed or table to get a stretch in, and that definitely helps alleviate some of the pain and discomfort

The thing you did with the foam roller while facing up, I do with my chair. I support myself on the wheels and use the front of the seat pan to stretch that lower part of my back. It usually pops like nuts also.

  • @paralifetv-youreverydaywhe8314

Great tip! I'm post 23 years SCI. Daily wheelchair user. I use your methods daily at the gym or home before and after workout. Works wonders on the body. From experience weight management is crucial for overall wellness as a wheelchair user , for everyone really disabled or not. It helps to prevent lower back issues, shoulder, neck you name it. I'm very conscious of my health and want to live a full long life with a SCI. I created great habits to prevent these ailments. Daily weight management, stretching, working the muscles you have are crucial to get in the habit of doing. Also super beneficial for mental wellness. Cheers!

I almost quit at the ball, T9 incomplete, Transverse Myelitis, and flipping on my stomach is guaranteed near instant dysreflexia, because the number 1 lesson I’ve learned these past three years is “bodies are weird.” I’m glad I stuck around because the pool noodle thing sounds divine. I got left out of decent rehab, and as the bad habits I picked up doing it on my own cause me more dysfunction, I’m finding myself in astronomical amounts of pain. That’s gotta end now, because it causes stress in literally every part of my life.

I'm going to give this a go, thank you! I've literally been suffering from lower back pain for years! I have to lie down on my bed for a few hours or more each day to even provide a short time of relief. I don't think it helps that I'm quite severely overweight, but the pain started before I put weight on.

Oh my goodness! I have a LOT of back issues at this point. I need to do this. I'm also planning on walking more to help with my back, but this should help a lot. I know physical therapy is really important for different chronic illness/chronic pain conditions. I also just got done with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for my trauma history, but it also can help with chronic pain. There's also a new mental health therapy that is so new that there's only one study out, but the results are really promising. It's called Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and it can help with pain!! Just a different way to deal with chronic pain. CBT can also help with pain. I highly recommend to go to therapy if possible because it can help more than you think.

Bro. What’s your injury level? I’m assuming it’s lower lever because you have a stronger core muscles to stand up at the knees. I’m
t4 incomplete and I could NEVER be able to stand up at the knees unless I’m bracing something with my arms and hands. .
