    Thanks for the opportunity to look behind the scenes, I've been amused by bus and truck drivers in my whole life, too bad that many people don't recognise that they are actual human beings not just robots. Thanks for the hard work for all the drivers out there!

    Old driver from Trentbridge depot 1981 just looking to see how much the busses have changed. Newer busses but the same work.once a driver always a driver.. Got to love it. You meet so many different people from all walks of life, making every day a day worth living..Emigrated to Aussie.

  • @jktinternationalcoachhirew9689

    In a typical day you could approximately have 3000 passengers in total. That's 6000 thank you's per day. Those bus drivers that don't speak are probably already very fatigued and trying to conserve energy.
    The problem with the general public is that they have no insight into how difficult it is to drive large vehicles for long hours. It requires high concentration for long periods of time

    Thank goodness Nottingham council had the sense to keep and develop their services. As a result they are one of the best in the UK.

    A lot of companies could learn a lot from NCT when it comes to customer service, he seems a very polite and friendly driver. As where with most of the Stagecoach bus drivers don't even bother to respond when a passenger says thanks when alighting the bus.

    • @adamalldridge9931
      @adamalldridge9931 Před 7 lety +2

      BritishRail60062 NCT drivers could learn a lot from other companies, caught their buses a few times. They either haven't spoken to me, or said the very bare minimum with no emotion whatsoever.
      However, they're not as bad as Arriva, mind.

    • @BritishRail60062
      @BritishRail60062 Před 7 lety +2

      To be honest @Adam Alldridge. I don't expect the bus drivers to speak to me when I board as I am not paying for that service. I am just paying to get from A to B and many times when I said thank you or bye. I rarely get an answer and often am ignored. But to be honest, they are paid to drive buses, not to speak to the public :).

    • @adamalldridge9931
      @adamalldridge9931 Před 7 lety +4

      BritishRail60062 They are paid to drive buses, yes, but a little customer interaction goes a long way, that customer may not talk to many people and if a bus driver is friendly and asks how they are etc, even takes 10 seconds to make sure the customer is having a great day, it goes a long way.

    • @BritishRail60062
      @BritishRail60062 Před 7 lety

      @Adam Alldridge. Bus drivers in my area were a lot nicer about 10 years ago but since around 2008. The drivers in my area are just so shitty that I have just given up even bothering to speak to them at all. They just shove the F.O.B window up and don't even speak when you board or alight the buses. I have given up trying to nice towards obnoxious hostile arseholes like that which cannot be bothered to respond a polite customer. We are not all garbage and customer service should be mandatory when dealing with the public. I use an electronic pass, so I just look at the signal when I check in and wait for a moment for it to say "okay" or show the green light and then take my seat and I just totally blank the driver as they are not even there when I leave the bus. I don't like being like that as I am a friendly person on the whole. But its a matter of adapting to modern times which is a sad fact of life mate. However when I use TrentBarton, I get an amazing service.

      So glad you said 'most', we're not all like that.
      ''Civility costs nothing'' as my old mum used to say, it applies to drivers AND passengers alike i would have thought!
      They seem to have a nicer class of passenger in Nottingham compared to the North of Scotland where i am.

    Wauw people are so nice! I'm a busdriver in Antwerp and people are always complaining to us....Our company doesn't do so well, we are ALWAYS short on drivers because nobody wants to be a busdriver anymore. In part because of the agression and weird working hours. I love it though! Greatest job ever!

      Rollo Larson it’s the way buses are designed in the U.K. , and they handle cash so it’s not just about violence protection it’s to make life harder for armed robbers and thieves too , and break times are set by law for whichever hours they work , maybe America will follow suit with these in the future

    Bus driving had it's tedious aspects to be sure, but there are perks. You get to see beautiful ladies both inside and out of the bus all day. Better than the beach because you always have a reason to be looking at them!
    You have a captive audience seeing what a great driver you are handling this big ungainly vehicle, like taming a beast lol. You'd be surprised how many admire it.
    Most importantly, you avoid boredom because this jib keeps your mind occupied. On the other side of this coin, it can be EXHAUSTING.
