  • My washing machine door hinge fell off so I needed to fix it. I managed to find the required part on-line quite easily so here I am replacing the hinge.
This is a Candy DQQ150UK (washer dryer) It is also the same as a Hoover DQW150
Apologies to Photonicinduction for (badly) using one of his catchphrases ;)

After 8 years of service my machine door came off in my hands this morning! After i stopped swearing and counting the pennies (or lack of) i remembered there is such a thing as spare parts, just ordered mine so will be looking for my hammer as soon as it arrives! Thanks for the vid

Brilliant vid. I was wondering how to get the broken (and stuck on) hinge off, but didn't know where to hit it. Now I do! Thanks a million.

good video, was nice to see you had the same issue i had. the screw was a good idea as i spent 10 minutes trying to pickle the bit out of one with a glasses screwdriver.

Useful video. The only thing I would add is that when refitting any screw back into plastic apply a little grease or Vaseline and initially turn the screw anticlockwise applying a little downward pressure and you should feel the screw thread drop into the existing plastic tread rather than trying to cut a new weaker thread.

Spot on. You have to get the screw threads to follow the threads already cut into the plastic the 1st time.

It was a good video and encouraged me to repair hinge of my machine myself. But it should be mentioned that it is not necessary to screw up all screws. For opening door frame you should screw up only two screws.

Thanks for taking the time to video. My main concern was the door exploding in a shower of springs and small parts when I opened it but at £10 for a hinge and £300 for a machine, what the hey?

Hammer and no battery screwdriver. Bit behind the Times eh 😊.

It wasn't mentioned in the video as nothing electrical was done on the appliance

Seems like a common problem, although I was lucky that my hinges must have lasted 8 years?

No mention of taking the hinge back off the main part as it was required to put on the door first. Now, where's my hammer. If anyone else reading this I've also read that you don't need to pull the whole door apart - just enough to put the hinge in (as the spring bit can be difficult to get back in). All in all I think I have mastered it (thanks) and am off to the spares shop.

Yes this has been my problem :( I got the part and have fitted it BUT the sprung latch is not working / wonky -- need to try again now....

IMPORTANT Remove the plug from the mains before doing Anything on an electrical appliance! This was not mentioned in the video.

Would never trust anyone using a hammer like that, what a tool, him, not the hammer, also it’s easier to put the hinge on the door rather than this way round
