Cool Jazz track. I really wish that it could've been longer.

    Wonderful!
Some Chick Corea inspiration in there for sure(?)

You might want to check out the song Solitariat by Oliver Buckland, his stuff is very very unusual structurally and melodically and I'd love to see someone who understands music more than I do make sense of it.

I was reminded more of Spirit Fingers: e.g. Find (aka Tune 16; the best live video of it has that as name). The album versions are good introductions to their sound, the longer live versions of course show better the interplay of the ensemble.
But I'll second Nik (no 'c') Bärtsch's Ronin, his other project Nik Bärtsch Mobile (more minimalistic) or his record label Ronin Rhythm Records, for more minimal jazz.

Really enjoyed this. I don't know how unorthodox I'd call it though; it does sound similar to other contemporary mathy jazz-fusion. Vaguely reminds me of some (not all) of the last work Wayne Shorter was doing with his quartet. Still very much my jam. As much as I enjoy classic jazz in terms of that genre I've really gravitated lately towards this kind of fusion between pre-composed and improvisational.

One of his Patreona should request Doncab to him? Maybe P,P,P,antless. Short and sweet.

That was really fun to listen to, interesting music, and thanks for the - as usual profound - analysis. If you liked that it's probably worth listening to "Nik Bärtsch's Ronin", which "Ocean" reminded me quite a lot to; e.g. "Modul 36" would be a good choice.
