I'm a complete begginer, I know very little about soft and hardware, music theory, the only thing I have is my passion and love for music and sound in general. You can try and get close, but it’ll always be different somehow. My advice is to embrace it and go where the song takes you, not where you want it to go. Also try learning basic music theory, it’s actually really simple and you can find good videos on CZcams about it. Hope that helped :)

I was blown away to find out how this young producer does not have an ounce of idea on how chord progression came to be in the first place. He was clueless on what a major and a minor progression is about and when I told him, we are gonna use Key of G, I-V-IV modulating up half step for the Outro and will end in G#, he looked at me as if I am speaking an alien language or maybe Klingon.

You would be surprised by how many great musicians wrote songs that went to the top of the charts without knowing a single line of music theory. Did they use pre-made packs? Nope... They sat down with their instrument or sampler, and tried things until something made "sense" for them musically speaking. They could have learned theory and cut the time needed for exploration, but that would kill their creativity because knowing theory they would never try something they were told "won't work"; and that means no innovation would ever happen.

Knowing theory isn't gonna stop experimentation. If anything, knowing what's "expected" or "common" often leads people to try new things out *because* it's not what's expected.
I really don't see why people are so averse to learning about the things they're into. Learning music theory isn't so much about learning "rules that must be followed", as much as it is learning about how to identify and describe aspects of music in a concrete way.

@@kohai-kun9261 I didn't exclude that theory can lead to breakthrough and innovation; but it is clear that most of the great things happening in music history were not only driven by knowledge, but at times by the lack of knowledge.
When you know "something", you are setting yourself in a box with well defined walls; going outside these walls is something that our brain does implicitly; because we are used to accept some things as being true, and live and operate in the realm of what is true.
If you would know nothing about physics, you could think about creative ways to explain what gravity is, because you can "feel it"; and yet you have no clue of the theory behind it.
For music you can't follow the same process because it is not something you feel and there is room for getting it right in different ways. Music either sound good or not, and that is what theory teach you. Once you are bound to those rules that make music sound good, you follow them and avoid to go out of that path.
Learning is not wrong; nobody is against it; and the only ones against it are lazy people that do not want to put time in it, and just look for a way to get good at something or make money in the easy way.
From my perspective you need a base of theory to do anything, but when you start to fill the voids on your own, you may end up in places that others have been already (so you wasted time, because you could read a book to learn it), but you may also end up in a different place you would probably not end up if you were only following what you know.

Then if the results are a masterpiece or garbage, that is up to debate. I listen to music that sound like garbage of mixed sounds with no interesting qualities, and those are called artists. If I need to study to understand why that noise is considered music, then it is not art anymore.

Yeah when I heard the price I lol'd because it made me think about AAA video games which cost less than that typically ($60 or so). The chord packs aren't even close to deserving a pricetag like that.

I was watching a music video (by choice) when an ad came on using the click bait 'the one word that will make learning music easy'...or something like that...can't recall it verbatim. Out of curiosity, I was eager to find out the magic word that could have saved me years of music study. It was four minutes and nine seconds long and I decided to see how long the ad would play before they revealed this 'magic word'. Just to remind us all, there is no way to skip ahead on these ads. Well, I went right to the end and it still didn't reveal the word; I had to go to their site. Once again, a long, long video promising a 'word' that hadn't shown up as yet...because I had to stop after many more minutes...because I have a life. There needs to be some kind of over-sight committee to prevent scammers. It's refreshing to see someone calling them out. Keep up the good work.

Thanks I really appreciate this video,... mostly because I spend too much time (used to be screaming at my monitor about stupid music lesson ads) just shrugging helplessly at all the ignorance out there. Your second example of a professionally played piano performance,... sounds much more natural... but I think for a couple or reasons that is also a midi file played with a "virtual computer sampled piano', The 32nd note run run at measure 52 (G, F#, F, E) is inhumanly precise, mechanically perfect with no space or overlap of notes,... and the piano also sounds identical on every hit,... no room acoustics , not intermodulation distortion on the sound board, and virtually no change in the dynamic response in the timbre of the notes wether hit loud or soft, almost uniform loudness.
Having spent 50 years as a recording technician, self trained pianist who usually plays at least 3 hrs per day, and 35 years recording sequences on a computer with midi, and a hi res midi sequencer., I can tell the difference. Yes I saw an ad for a similar "chord pak" crap, and thought OMG.... and I have heard supposed professional "song producers" use "abeltonne" which of course has all the usual chords,... make cookie cutter songs... with virtually not an original thought contained in the whole melange.... it is truly sad...
Especially because computer tools REALLY CAN be USED to help people learn music theory faster. instead of reading a music theory book and not having the proficiency to play the examples Yourself, now You can watch piano scores of virtually any piece of music on YT and listen to a score being played of Your own devising. with a little effort and a little practice and discipline You can learn a lot.
A suggestion, if You play a midi keyboard into a midi sequencer that does somewhere between 480- 960 clicks per 1/4 note, and You practice or edit Your sequences, You can do a pretty creditable job of making something that sounds like a real human playing piano (because it is), and if played back with a couple of different pretty good synths or samplers that have layers of samples at different volume levels, it can sound pretty convincing. I think most of the strategies that companies use,... is to find the perfect sample engine. I've heard some good ones, but layering several virtual pianos (simultaneously) will beat most of those. On a real piano if You double hit a note the already vibrating note may be hit in, or out, of phase , which unexpectedly can dampen or emphasize that note, ...also a real piano's sound board has to resound to several notes at a time, on chords,.. and unlike reference loud speakers, sound boards have fairly non linear resonant modes, so they also have cancelation/ or enhancement modes, intermodulation distortion,... this can be digitally modeled , but rarely is. Acoustic piano's really sound different than sampled pianos!

I didn't need to check the unison ad when you told to check those out and come back. CZcams showed the ad for it just the right time 😆😆

wow! now that I know that all 7th chords are "pro-level" I'll never have to use "apprentice" chords every again! Thanks, flush valve!

7ths are pro… but 9ths, those are for masters. Have you ever used a 9th chord? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
      (obvious sarcasm)
