I have a very strong personal connection with this song. It's the first song I learned from just getting lost in the music and watching him play it on guitar, no tabs just my eyes. Interesting story: his guitar is missing one string (high E) because at the time of writing this song he had a broken guitar which was missing strings. He did not want to go outside to replace them. While composing the song I imagine it would have felt and sounded similar to this performance.

People need to understand that this is meant to be a light acoustic rendition. He's not going to hit the same notes at the original recorded version. But that along with the condition of his voice should be enough reason for him not to go all out on this acoustic session. His voice is still good but not in the same shape that it used to be.. so cut him some slack.

You don't need to be a psychic to know that's his intention, it's obvious. He likely cannot hot the high notes, yeah, but that doesn't matter when it's this kind of performance.
