No! Morty! Don't make me re-install it AGAIN!
Too late, ...wind's howling.
Up for a round of gwent?
Place of power. Gotta be.
Looks like rain
How do you like that silver?
For me, Witcher 3 is one of the best games I've ever played.
I've tried to get into The Witcher multiple times. It just didn't click. I started playing again this year and beat the game. I'm glad I tried it again.
Yeah sometimes it helps to try it multiple times. You kinda have to be in the right mood. But doesn't happen to often. I completed it right after release and then tried several times to replay it but it didn't click a second time
Makes sense, it’s def a game you gotta play when you’re feelin it. Glad you finished it homie!
I am in the same situation with Morrowind. Like for more than a decade I keep trying to get into it, but I still can't. I grew up with even older games, but that shit is too boomer even for me.
Feel sorry for you RJ.
same ended up playing it through up to all the dlcs just recently, funny how it didn't click at first
To this day i consider the blood and wine DLC to be the best SP RPG dlc ever made.
+1
The Old Hunters in Bloodborne is even better I think
@@omegazx7236 The bosses were better for sure but i think as a whole i'd still put B&W on top
The side questing in this game is what really sold me on it. The world is very alive, despite the towns being so small and sparse. I love all the blurred lines with choices, how “no good deed goes unpunished” is just a nice change up from typical fantasy.
Eh I really felt the world felt dead personally. Like I know the world is dangerous, but noone on roads just seems dead worldish to me. Towns and cities are great and alive though.
Witcher 3 is a masterpiece.
Hopefully Witcher 4 lives up to it's legacy.
@@shaycray7662 As long as it's not below the quality of Witcher 2, I'd be happy 😂
Witcher 2 was very good, in some areas better than 3, so wouldn't say it's easy @@AydarBMSTU
@@shaycray7662 I don't know about that, the combat in Cyberpunk is much much better than W3 and the story has never been a problem in CDPR games. Their issues have always been stability.
Witcher 4 w/ the same scale of dynamic writing and more reactivity. but id appreciate it and a big W for me if the game has revamp combat, balance enemy scaling, and let players get sidetrack.
@@khal7702 Agreed. Witcher 2 was a very good game.
This game I've only played through once. Because I dropped like 400 hours into that game. Absolute masterpiece best narrative I've ever experienced inside a single video game.
Same boat, as much as I want to replay this I don't have the time to commit to a full playthrough of the game + all DLCs again
How is it compared to RDR2 (if you’ve played it)?
@@azku Both great games. I think rdr main story it's a lot stronger, but Witcher has better side quests and activities (overall). If I had to choose one, I think I'd go with Rdr
@@Jesus_rrs RDR2 is the best game of all time for me, and I almost didn’t play it. I was not feeling it the 1st time I tried it and ditched it.
Decided to give it another try this year and wow! What a game!
I tried Witcher 3 before and wasn’t feeling it. Maybe I should give it another try.
Is it a hard game? Is there any difficult combo etc?
Nowadays I’m more into roleplaying. Like in RDR2, it doesn’t really matter what horse you use, what weapons you use. Just do whatever you want. There’s no need for minmaxing etc. Is it the same for Witcher 3?
@@azku In my experience, i'd say you are able to play however you want. It being an rpg, gear matters more, but i'm able to wear whatever i want. I don't think it's that difficult when you get the hang of it. I've been putting Elden Ring aside for the same reason
Modding tools coming soon for the Witcher 3, could be interesting to revisit in the future
Blood and wine is my favorite videogame experience of all time. It was so fun, so beautiful and the final scene were Geralt smiles at you like saying goodbye, is still one of the fondest memories of my life.
What a masterpiece, wanna play some Gwent?
First time player in 2024, the hype is real. I've been absolutely hooked. And I fell for Triss, her voice is audible bliss. She's perfect. Absolute masterpiece.
CDProjekt Red is the master in writing dialogues
My favorite single player game ever, mostly for its atmosphere. I really disappear into this world. Its such an escape, the music, the environments, the characters. I love it. When the wind blows through the trees i swear i can almost feel it for real. Its glitches and oddities dont bother me at all, im too lost in its world.
Yep atmosphere is a magnet in games. Velen is just perfect, i really dont like seklliga
I feel like the filler content adds depth and believability to the world. It helps if you turn off the question marks on the map. That way you organically discover only some of them which are 2 crucial improvements to avoid the feel of “filler”. Seeing and wanting to clear all ?’s makes them a tedious addition.
This is still my favorite game of all time. I'm replaying it now with the next gen update and it's amazing. I always get so easily immersed in it. I can't wait for the sequel. My biggest disappointment with TW3(there aren't many) is that a certain someone wasn't in it. I'm talking about Lorveth....whyyyy he is only a gwent card. Btw Gwent is awesome and probably my favorite mini game in any video game. My PC has handled it fine 40 hrs in with no crashing too.
I've been thinking about getting into Witchers 3 after BG3 for a while now. Thanks for this!
lol, you release this right as I buy Witcher 3 to finally see what the hype is about. Everything is within the flows of causality
kinsman, at this time, at this place.
Started Witcher 3 last year for the first time right after the next gen update was released (coincidentally) and was completely blown away. Saved the Blood & Wine DLC up until a few weeks ago because I didn't want the game to end ... ever 😄. Was so happy that B&W gave me dozens of hours more 🤩. Now I must say its probably the best game I've ever played. The graphics, the world and character design, the side quest, the exploration, the combat, everything is just great about this game! :-)
Everything, exept the leaning of the trees in wind. Like the stems are made out of rubber. Thats the only thing i do not like.
It’s always interesting what either new or returning players think of a game as time passes. It would be great to see more of these kinds of videos from you in the future!
I am actually doing a play through now, so looking forward to your review and perspective on it.
My personal choice for best Video Game of all time
What a coincidence that you happened to review this, because I just started playing this again a couple of weeks ago. I have maxed out RT options on my PC but lowered some of the other graphical settings to maintain a steady 60 FPS. It looks absolutely beautiful and in combination with its art direction and music it is one of if not the most aesthetically pleasing games to simply wander in. Sunrises and sunsets across valleys and illuminating the silhouettes of trees are stunning.
Its RPG elements, combat and gameplay, on the other hand are pretty shallow and dated and perhaps have always been somewhat lacklustre. Removing as many HUD elements as possible and the point of interest markers makes exploration feel much better. However, in comparison to a game like Elden Ring, The Witcher 3 was not really designed for you to avoid using quest routes on the compass and so it's very easy to get lost in the dense amount of vegetation present across the map. As a result, points of interest are quite difficult to stumble upon, but I still prefer playing this way.
Thanks for reminding me about this game, I tried W3 on release but got motion sickness after a short time, I see there are now fixes and mods for this issue so it's back on the backlog 😎🤙
we have go full circle :3 back to your favorite game back then! it was great seeing you grow as a channel and a game reviewer nowadays
Yeah its pretty wild lol
Funnily enough I am currently playing Blood and Wine 6 years after I last played Witcher 3. Back then I had sunk so many hours into the game that I decided to save Blood and Wine for "later" and I am enjoying it a lot even though the game does indeed show its age
I haven’t done a playthrough since the current-gen update released but I did play a few hours to try it out and it makes an amazing game even better. Visually it’s beautiful and the close camera, the quick casts and the new default map filter are absolute game changers. 2023 was packed with releases and up until now this year has been busy as well, but when the time comes when the busy release schedule takes a pause I definitely am planning to do a new playthrough again
Currently 112 hours in my 3d playthrough, pretty cool that Il be able to compare my opinion of it with yours :D
Doing my first ever playthrough myself; I can see what all the awards were for - it's excellent.
After playing through 1 and 2 for the first time starting last Fall, I am now in the final stretch of my third Witcher 3 playthrough. The context of the previous games, combined with my own story and mechanics knowledge, are adding up to make this the most fun run yet. Excited to hear your full take! I agree the game does have its flaws, but since first playing 3 a few years ago, it has skyrocketed towards the top of the list of favorite franchises for me.
I cant play the witcher 3 anymore without the "witcher 3 enhanced edition" mod full alchemy overhaul that will make it like it was in the first game, you need to re-craft potions and a bunch of these things that makes the game less streamlined but much more enjoyable for me
you need the tedium?
Witcher 3 is a great game, but it still falls short of the expectations seeded from witcher 2. I find it a fair bit less dark and less grounded and also the lack of any iorveth-saskia routes or characters altogether was extremely disappointing. That radenia in a winter managed to invade, conquer and absorb an entire country while the empire did absolutely nothing cause "winter" but radenia could do all that despite "winter" if you sit and think about it, it is a bit immersion breaking and its evident it was done for the story writters' sake.
The follow up to the poll was immediate lol
Yeah lol I mean like the poll said I wanted people's input on what was next
Love your content! I watched your video about your next 10 reviews, but was wondering if you plan on getting to Skyrim at all for a 2024 review?
I would like too, not quite sure if I will yet, depends on how busy this summer winds up being
Ciri's expression in her painting always makes me lol.
Great vid! I've been ashamed to say that I never did finish the game. Just couldn't get into it even though I played 1 and 2, but when 3 released, I just couldn't get the motivation to play it. A few months ago, I finally "forced" myself to play, and I'm glad that I did. Such a great game with so many things to do
God, it's almost been nine years since this was released. I remember being so hyped for its release, like it was going to be the next "step" for open world games. And that commercial where Geralt is just killing a bunch of guards. Jeez, what a trip.
I’ve been replaying it right now, I’m going slow and I don’t have a lot of time anymore so its been the best after work chill game for the spring, it takes place in spring / summer too
I just wanted to say: I love listening to your voice, and everything you have to say about gaming. And please don't overwork yourself ;)
Bro says 2 weeks all humble and casual 💀
For me the witcher 3 is my all time favorite, its one of the first games i was REALLY immersed in the world, music, character, story i could just walk threw skellige admiring the world feeling at peace. The only other game ive felt like that was cyberpunk 2077. Cd project red kills it.
I've started playing on PC after having it on xbox. With mods and the enemy combat enhanced, I'm absolutely hooked. The graphics are ridiculously beautiful, the cloak mod adds so much to the roleplay and scenes.
I never loot or allow my build to become OP... I find the game much more interesting and challenging when I'm always needing coin and need the potions and prep before a contract.
On xbox its age was showing, on the Legion Go, on Ultra and modded, its like a story book come alive.
Would be good content to highlight major mods that result from the upcoming Red Kit! Unprecedented creativity will be available to the PC modding community.
Loved Blood & Wine but it feels like a museum. I bought it but ended up just watching the cut scenes on Let's Plays.
Contrasting that to BG3 where everything is about me or my hot goth/vampire/whatever bonkbuddy they are both great but one involves me, one should be a movie.
Would love to see what you think of Withering Rooms - the reviews on Steam are glowing.
Baldurs gate 3 won't be remembered in a few years.
This game won't be forgotten.
Interestingly, I decided to start a new game of Witcher 3 recently, as I got myself a new series 40 graphics card, and wanted to see how the game looked with Ray Tracing enabled. So this is quite the happy coincidence.
Shows how difficult it is to make a game to suit everybody. I returned the Witcher 2 because it didn't play like a Oblivion or Skyrim, I just didn't get it at all, that you were kind of fixed in your role. After playing the Witcher 3 that's after watching clips and adverts of it. I went back and managed to rebuy to Witcher 2 (days before GoG) with a now deeper understanding of the story. Although I enjoyed my playthroughs, I found the potion side in Witcher 3 preferable to Witcher 2.
Looking forward to this review. Witcher 3 is one of my favourite RPGs ever, perhaps even my favourite RPG if I were to pick one.
This game slaps so hard, i Have over 300 hours on this and 3 playthoughs with one with hardest diffuculty, selfpoison blade build op af
And Then went Back to Witcher 2 and played it 4 Times, story is goat on that one
you now instantly pick up herbs, awesome. that was the only thing standing in my way for return. time to find the copy or buy a new one.
One of my fav games of all time. The music, characters, story just give me such a fuzzy feeling whenever I play it.
I actually always used legendary swords, over set swords. They had more interesting mechanics. Like the sword that passively levels up its power after performing the 10 hit combo without taking damage.
The Witcher 3 is the best game I've ever played, for me it's the best game ever made. I have around 300hrs into the game with 1 Platinum. Planning on getting the Plat for PS5 sometime in later future.
9y since W3 came out You can feal old now
The Witcher 3 is a game from an era when the industry was still exploring the limits of the open world formula, the seamlessness that it promised, and whether a great and complex story can be combined with the inherently non-linear game structure of open world. The game still holds up extremely well in the story, side quests, choice and consequence department, and mostly in the combat, but some of the content filling and padding and grind (although only a concern for completionists) is now more apparent than ever and has been disliked in recent years. But in any case there is no such thing as a perfect game, but at it's time it truly did feel to me like the best game made up to that point.
CDPR reached the epitome of open world.
This game is the best game ever made
Hell yeah, The Witcher 2 is also my favorite! To make Thr Witcher 3's combat and mechanics deeper and more in line with The Witcher 2, I highly recommend using the mod "The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition Redux" (the original is sadly unavailable)
I loved the story through and through. No other game ever has had me so engrossed within almost all of the quests. Only BG3 recently kept my attention as much as the Witcher 3. Currently playing Hogwarts and Cyberpunk. May take a look at the Witcher 3 again once I review all the mods available.
Open question , with some Some context first - I've started the Witcher about 6 Years ago , played about half way to three quarters through it and eventually just gave up and moved on to whatever else caught my attention at the time. I didn't touch the expansions , which IIRC were too high level for my character anyway. Now I'm interested to go back to it. The question is : Would you recommend a fresh start or picking up from where I left off? Id like to rediscover it but the reason I gave up is cause it was so daunting with so many things to do and a never ending list of boxes to tick and loot to collect that it just stopped being fun but feel like a chore instead. Like I said i really haven't touched it for about 6 years now, but i guess i could get a recap of the story on YT up to the point I stopped. Blood and Wine in particular I regret not trying, as I hear its awesome. Open to suggestions :)
Finished last week or so after 155hrs on my first play through and it was only the main story. Basically did all side quests just because but it took me like 7 years on and off because of burnout. Good game.
I remember playing this game for a whole week straight at launch. Really good times. What an adventure it was. Nothing like playing an RPG completely blind and getting the best ending too! ❤❤❤❤
I’d like your thoughts on the game with the mod “W3EE Redux” installed. It addresses most of my issues with the base game, including making combat and alchemy much more involved for the player, and removing character levels so that even common monsters and bandits have a chance of killing you.
How does the levelling work then? Places of power only?
I got so used to lock-on being a standard in these games so it got a little bit difficult to go back to a game where you are fighting multiple enemies at the same time that didn't have this
Everyone on CZcams will have a Witcher 3 video before Joseph Anderson gets to his...
I guess that the lack of variable endings is disappointing…. But dawg. This game’s location-based storytelling will likely never be topped in all of video games.
I dunno. I love it so, so much. So much.
Velen is depressing, but reaching novigrad after many hours felt like a breath of fresh air! And what a fantastic series of quests that city has - who doesn’t love that city? It’s my fav city in all of gaming.
And oxenfurt during the sunset trying to find Whoreson Junior… love it. Skellige is also phenomenal. I love Cerys’s quests. So good.
And the ending… is fine. The main villain is lame but the draw of the game was always reuniting with Ciri. And what a phenomenal reunion that was. The battle at kaer morhen, returning to Novigrad and Velen to kill the crones and imlerith, the avallach quests across the universe… unforgettable.
And the DLC! Jesus Christ the DLC! Hearts of stone is front-to-back amazing. No question. And blood and wine? The best video game dlc of all time.
Amazing video game that I’ve replayed in full 3 times or so. I cannot wait to get back into it at some point.
This game is in my Mount Rushmore of games. Flawless masterpiece.
This game is getting a big update may 23rd? Including a map editor?
I am totally ashamed to admit, I never actually played the DLCs for this, I heard they were pretty solid and I think I got the first one day one with every intent to play it but that never happened!
I think a revist to the Witcher games might be in order now
I too didn't play them immediately after completing the game, but after some time I gave Hearts of stone and blood and wine a go. They were as great as the base game with good villains and tons of side quests, whole new map and even better campaigns
I'm playing the witcher 3 next gen on PS5. No crashes at all yet here. Seems very stable on console. Love the auto oil application feature and quick cast that they added. In some ways this game feels like a game that came out this year and still better than some AAA offerings. I 100% velen and novrigrad. Not sure if I want to do that for skellige. Kind of got burnt out a bit on how many guarded and hidden treasures I did (so might just skip those). The abandoned areas that you liberate are always fun to me. Never got tired of those and the hidden side quests you find by exploration are really interesting. They are not mmo fetch quests. The lore and writing around them are usually quite good. I'm having a great time with it, can't wait to see Mort pass me up in progress in what feels like seconds lol
Ps5 sucks. It can't even play this game in native 4k like the xbox can and doesn't even have gamepass.
Laughable 😂😂😂😂😂
I have gamepass on PC. It's pretty great! I'm happy to see you are enjoying your Xbox. I bet the next gen version of Witcher 3 runs well on that too. I highly recommend the game :)
Hello Mortismal Gaming,i'm witcher 3 player, and i need to know. How i can unlock all combat abilities,by using just one ability point per ability? And in wich patern i should do it? Becouse i have noticed, that line of five abilities can be opened,by choosing wright ability. So can you tell me what is wright patern to open all red abilities?
You speak wisdom, I am still under impression from W2, years after and having multiple playthrough and endings.
I got burned out on w3 and I still have to fully finish the game. After 100h the sword cant take you so far gameplay wise.
Not gonna lie, I find cyberpunk easier to replay, its me tho, not the w3 :3 (fillers In w3 did burn me out the most)
Have this on pc and just picked up the goty addition for ps4 for 4quid. Be nice to see what the "next gen" looks like.
Lol ps4 can't even play this game in native 4k and neither can ps5.
CDred is releasing official mode tools which should allowe creating quest. I really hope that someone will use it to better integrade choice from W2 and generally make "Nilfgaardian invasion" better plot line
what there should be
>Henselt is in power if you let him live and he had defeated Nilfgardian invasion into Aerden, so now it's about Redenia vs Nilfgaard fighting over Temeria
>Roche plot around Annaise, either Radovid loyalist or he is still hiding her (quet to either give her Radovi, to Nilfgaard or let Roche rise her up as normal girl)
>Skeliga king ellection have influence on the result of the war (joins war, stays out of war, total Nilfgardian destruction)
> Radovi keeps his ssanity if you save Triss in W2, witchunts are only on Phillipa and Lodge for kingslaying, if you give him Philipa he will stops witchhunts
> more end results (basically, if you didnt saved enought sorceress, Yen will die
there are some things I would like to see with Ciri, where instead pf "did you buy me an ice cream;" her choice to stay depends on how you had treated people who had helped her
Witcher 3 and Skyrim are those type of games you can play over and over again
One of the best Western rpgs I've played along with Baldur gate
, Icewind Dale, Deadfire, DAO, and Neverwinter Nights 2.
Looks like rain.
I love this game, probably spent around 300 hours in it. That being said, I don't know if I would be able to get through all of it again. Kudos and good luck.
If you haven't played a long while, Is NG or NG+ more fun? I have a nearly 100% Death March playthrough from years and years ago.
Personally I never felt like NG+ added much to this one
I beat this game for the first time 3 months ago on the next gen update and the only time I could get the game to crash consistently was in Skellige when exploring on sea. Turning off raytracing fixed that for me and once I had my fill I turned it back on and continued my playthrough.
Ive already narrowed it down to something to do with swapping equipment causing it, seems like an odd one
@@MortismalGaming should support that info to bug reports if you can find a way to..
Like many people, I tried it 3 times (on ps4) and I just didn’t enjoy it. Bought it again on steam this year for €5. After 8 hours I stopped playing because I got so HOOKED I’m gonna wait for a sale and play the Witcher 1 and 2 before it. Gosh what an amazingly crafted game.
I just finished Blood & Wine after starting my game 9 years ago.
Def on my replay list once I get through a never ending backlog of games I've yet to play. Just so many...
The atmosphere itself is just superb
I don't think you mentioned it, so a question: have you read or attempted to read the books?
Ive only read a couple, never did get around to finishing them
As others have commented, I highly recommend the W3EE mod (current iteration is W3EE Redux).
Addresses many of the gameplay issues from the vanilla game. I wont play this game without it
Been waiting for this since I discovered your channel
One of my top three games. I haven’t even played Blood and Wine.
The Witcher 3 is my 3rd most played game on Steam-just behind Civilization VI & Cyberpunk 2077. Though I suspect it might fall to 4th place if I play BG3 for too much longer 😉.
Damn, i was just looking if you had done a review for it, and BAM
My favorite Action RPG of all time!
Hi Mortym! Here we are in 2024, and still haven't beaten TW3. I have 116+ hours in it and still feel like I am not even half done...
How is it on steam deck? Seems like a good game to play laying around
Should be pretty good, I mean they got it working on the switch and it has a dedicated steam deck setting
Instal autoloot bro) and infinity weight. Its make game better)
Yeah, I always install what I call anti-tedium mods for any and all games I play. My bar for tedium is very, very low... Durability, weight and screen management (auto-loot, apply oils etc.) begone.
@@louieberg2942 Especially in this game they are so poorly implemented that i don't bother
Happy to know there's one game I have more hours in than Mortim 😂
i didnt even bother replaying this game after i finished it and both expansions. I dont know why, even though it could be curious to check out the HDR and Ray Traced visuals.
The Witcher 2 i completed about 4 or 5 times? I enjoyed it that much - you have 2 very different story paths and game was just long enough not to bore you to death. The original Witcher is in the same bag - i only finished it once, having a bootleg dvd version of it for the lack of anything else - and i had no internet back then. It was release version you can imagine how buggy it was. I tried to get on it later with the finalized edition but again couldnt handle it :(
Is it working? I tried to play earlier this year, and it kept crashing
free comment's howling.
I still play skyrim. 800 hrs till date
Rookie numbers right there
@@yesboss6024 how much is yours 8000 hours??

@@Shehzada-e-tharki man I had prob 800 on ps3 when it first came out haha

The best thing about this video is finding out he already covered witcher 1 and 2
Hope you watch those reviews, I'm very proud of them!
They sure are good ones. Especially since they are more personal they feel more special. But you made me download witcher 1 again. Put in a few mods and now I'll lose a lot of time
I had been playing Witcher 3 when I was in the middle high school (13-15 years old) and I finished this game at 250 hours of gameplay
It was wonderful especially I was playing it from time to time in christmas, vacations and so on, so I had time to rest before next chunk of game
Now I am in college and I can't see in foreseeable future any possiblity to play such extensive game - its biggest advantage for me had become its biggest drawback
Maybe one day i will try it again
I had so much built up resentment due to being dissapointed by massive hype. D3 i waited for three years before getting into it, d4 is in the same process, but witcher 3 has fuckton of great stuff for the dark souls hc type and a casual dialogue type like myself. It's a masterpiece and i feel like an idiot for not trying it earlier, but knowing how stupid I still am, i would've not appreciated it enough.
Last night, I finally went back and finished the end of blood and wine.
This my goat game, just in front of elden ring. Truly amazing experience playing this for the first time.
It's been years already and I still need to tackle Heart and Wine sidequests to fulfill "Geralts retirement".
