Xavier Watts intercepted Caleb Williams twice and returned a fumble for a touchdown as No. 21 Notre Dame handed No. 10 Southern Cal its first loss in a 48-20 victory .

Absolute domination. If Notre Dame's offense could match its defense, it would really be something (they need to fix not being able to convert on 3rd down).
It’s more about setting them up for success rather than runs and short passes on first and second down. Hartman is the best at downfield passes but they only let him throw a few each game.

At 1:57:15 USC has just scored a TD and the announcers are figuring out how USC can come back and eventually win the ball game. They had mentioned how in one “iconic game”, USC had trailed 24-0 at halftime. In the second half USC scored 55 points winning the game 55-24! I would call that a nightmare! GO IRISH WIN!!

I’m from Oregon, home of the Ducks and Beavers, and we have always had trouble with the Trojans! Kind of nemesis level opposition. I’m also Catholic and love the Notre Dame Fighting Irish ☘️! Growing up Notre Dame frequently ended up on TV. They were like the “America’s Team”, like the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL? No, they were like the Catholic National Team. It was great that they were independent for so long; I wish they still were. They have a great new coach and the enthusiasm of the team was a pleasure to watch. I do NOT like how the teams are allowed to push the ball carrier. In the past I kind of recall that was NOT allowed and came close to deciding a ND-USC game? So I was super happy to see ND prevail in this high level game! GO IRISH ☘️ WIN THEM ALL!! It was closer than the score suggests.

When the Irish go to USC they usually lose and when USC comes to South Bend they usually lose...it doesn't always happen that way but it seems to tilt that way. Both are great football powerhouses.
At the end of the second Watts interception, #79 for Southern Cal hit him late after he was out of bounds & led with the crown of his helmet to cause helmet on helmet contact. Why was no penalty called?

Growing up in Los Angeles in a UCLA family until 1973 when I began rooting for ND, I’ve always understood that USC doesn’t mind being called either, that more about how their opponents label them. With UCLA it’s USC and Notre Dame it’s Southern Cal.

NCAA officials are a joke. They tried SO HARD to help USC win this game. Some of the most biased officiating I've seen in a while. I kept waiting for the refs to put on USC jerseys. Unprofessional clowns

One thing that should be addressed is our special teams. We seem not to be close to blocking punts anymore! Our blocking on punts just isn't consistent!
When we are receiving punts, we are happy with making fair catches! I love the Irish. However, we miss Brian Polian, and it shows.
Brian Polian wasn't very good. I think you mean Brian Mason. Mason was Notre Dame's special teams coach last year, where we almost broke the record for blocked punts in a full season. We led the nation with 7 blocked punts in the 2022 season and came close to blocking many more. So far in 2023, we haven't blocked one single punt yet. Not to mention, with all those blocked punts and aggressive schemes coming after the punter last year, we didn't even have one running or roughing the kicker or punter penalty last year, where we already have one this season and we haven't even blocked one punt this year. Brian Mason is a great special teams coach and we all miss him. Unfortunately, his dream job called and was the only job that I think he said he would leave for, the Indianapolis Colts hired him for the 2023 season. Those blocked punts last year were difference makers and if we still had Mason this year, those might be the difference of being 6-2 and an undefeated season this year. Go Irish! God Bless!!

The problem is: Notre Dame just showed everybody else how to beat USC, and that will be a problem for USC for the rest of the season, wait and see.
I TOLD YOU SO! How many games did USC lose after the Notre Dame game! They provided everyone with the formula on how to beat USC and everybody followed that script. No repeat Heisman for Williams this year.
