@@vop4813 I'm not sure what you're driving at. It is originally a Swedish song, but it is also in other languages. She may have used some Swedish words, but she definitely used Norwegian, as she grew up in Norway. In fact, you can pick up the dialect from "Kem" in place of "Hvem". If I am mistaken, let me know. But it is difficult for me to tell, because I am not a native speaker, and even though they are mutually intelligible it is made even more difficult in folk music that uses interesting wording sometimes.
@@theherk oh yeha you are right! I was just too stupid to jump into a conclusion and thought Aurora was just singing it in swedish with a dialect lmao sorry
As a Swedish person, I’ve heard this song thousands of times, but I’ve never heard anyone sing it so beautifully before ..!🤩😭 (Also I understand all the words in it :))
”Vem kan segla förutom Vem kan ro utan åror Vem kan skiljas från vännen sin Utan att fälla tårar?” ”who can sail without wind Who can row without oars Who can part from a friend without shedding tears?” The next verse is the same but you switch out the “who” for “I” and then “But never part from a friend without shedding tears”
actually as someone who's been making music since i was little, i have an explanation for this. 1) is just the simple fact that most people don't like hearing their own voices because they sound so different from what they themselves hear when they talk or sing (think about how you feel when you listen to a voice message you sent to someone). and 2) is because as a musician, your instrument (so in her case her voice) becomes your work. and while work can absolutely be fun, inspiring, whatnot, it can also become tiring and you can feel like you're always giving your best but still not perfect which can make you feel like you're working into a void... that's a normal feeling (at least the chasing after perfection one), and a necessary one in order for improvement to happen. but there's the option that this is why she doesn't like it. (and don't hit me with the "but she's perfect already" shit because no musician likes to hear that. we like hearing that we're good or any comparable word of praise but not... perfect.) also in the end this is just my experience, might be completely different for her
Like just picture it, some major viking character just died, we see a close person of them react and rush onto their body, sound goes mute and we only hear a fae singing this, it would be aurora, shots of the mourning and aurora just singing while she bathes in a waterfall would intercalate, as the valkyries take the fallen warrior to Valhalla
First time I ever heard her she was a guest in a performance of a song called Helvegen by an amazing band called Wardruna. I fell in love immediately. Her voice takes you to another time and place and it's just mesmerizing and enchanting and beautifully haunting.
