+Ken Kaneki The haunted train one was probably the creepiest! Arnold, Gerald, and Helga are on the train when it screeches, lights flicker, and Brainy (the kid who breathes) is on the train with them.
I'd say he didn't react to that because he understood that the zombie grandpa thing was just the dream being a dream and wouldn't happen in real life, but him fighting with his friend could go on and on if they kept holding a grudge.
OH DEAR GOD. This episode has stayed with me since my youth. I eventually told myself I only imagined it or something and went on to live my life. Now it's back and I'm not sleeping anytime soon again.
This was the scariest moment of "Hey! Arnold! I can remember. Is Grandpa on his deathbed or is he a zombie? And, if he was still alive, he'd be at least 120!
"I'm not Tommy" seems to crop up on every video about creepy moments in kid's shows. It really is the magnum opus. I legitimately had nightmares about that...
The fact that it sounds like he's being possessed by a demon (speaking with like two different voices like wtf) is the scary part for me. And the eyes, my god the eyes.
That’s probably due to the fact that it’s the grandpa’s spectral voice from beyond the grave speaking in its old physical form, it’s creepy because the two points aren’t humanly matching
I'm 16 years old and when I first saw it I didn't really scare me but now that I saw it again It still didn't scare me but It sure as hell stuck with me
I'll never forget this scene as an 8 year old. It scared me in a way that makes me remember it vividly. Crystal clear memory as if it was something traumatizing. I'm 30 years old now and i can't believe this specific scene still awakens that fear it gave me when I was young. What a great show, man. They don't make them like this anymore.
I remember seeing this as a kid about fifteen years ago. It's one of the few moments I VIVIDLY still remember and I am so glad someone brought this (horrific) memory back.
i’m rather comforted by how many other people had the piss scared out of them by this scene as kids, lol. it makes me feel better about myself. i remember seeing this around age 10 or 11 and shaking for about 45 minutes afterward because it was so unexpected.
moral of the story. Fighting with your friend is dangerous it can make you grandpa live long enough to be a creepy century and a half old zombie with a demonic voice. O.O
If you go into the settings and adjust the playback speed to the lowest setting, the scene where he starts to laugh is a pure example of an urban legend, curse-ed video tapes. Now that I saw it, 8 or 7 years later, I'm gonna be cursed into saying words like, "Tertiary."
This was just indescribably awesome. When you're watching Arnold and Gerald as old men in the future, who was expecting to then see 160 year old Grandpa still alive pop up. And it was a dream in a cartoon. It didn't have to make sense. :P
This scared the heck out of me when I was little. Also the ghost bride episode and the ghost with glasses in the boarding house. The headless horseman and the haunted train, not so bad, but I was still scared. Hey Arnold was one of the best out there!
Jesus, that was scary when I was a little girl! O_o Wait a sec.....Regardless of which of us were/are for or against the whole "The Patakis" Spinoff, how in the hell could the pilot have been considered "Too Dark" by Nick when I look back and remember plenty of stuff like this throughout the original series?! What the heck was in The Patakis then?! O_________________O I am all kinds of curious right now.....
While I agree with you, this scene is really only a couple of seconds, "The Patakis" would have been episodes long and really, when you think about it, Helga's position is disturbing because the show regularly portrays her family as realistically broken. Bob is abusive, Miriam is an alcoholic and Olga has emotional issues.
Danielle Pluzsik They're selling Chocolate Chocolate? Yeah WHAT WHAT ARE THEY SELLING? CHOCOLATES? WHAT? CHOCOLATES I CAN'T HEAR YOU THEY'RE SELLING CHOCOLATES THEY'RE SELLING CHOCOLATE YEAH
The undead zombie Grandpa Phil is the creepiest apparition I've ever seen and this is a Nickelodeon cartoon. Is there anyway I could download the creepy music from somewhere?
Had a fucking nightmare about this sh*t when I was 9, saw this same scene but it played out as seeing my own Mother like this at my bed side sitting on my toybox with decayed necrosis skin and gray pupil singing "go to sleep, go to sleep . . . " been staring her down like a hawk every night until I was 12 sleeping with one toy bat waiting on her pull that sight on me." Now im 30+ doesnt bother me much, even though she passed on . . . . God rest her soul, I hope.
The moment his jaw fell off really made this scene that much more horrifying.
I love how that was what made Arnold wake up screaming.
His grandpa had to be at least 200 in that dream.
thanks for saying this i was so confused
@@ZakWolfohhhhhhhhhh i get it now kind of a thinker
For me, it was the distorted voice and eyes, also the greenish skin. This and the sewer corpse scene in Simpsons lmfao :(
I like how they turned the creepiness level up to 11 by giving his voice a demonic filter. Cause an animated rotting corpse isn't scary enough
I know from beyond the grave for that who was right ? he's a zombie & y was he in that dramatization any how ?
The only other show I've seen be brave enough to do that is Adventure Time.
the creator of hey arnold did a great job making this scary because this scared me as a kid.
+Ken Kaneki Thank goodness I wasn't the only one who actually got scared of that ending.
+Ken Kaneki The haunted train one was probably the creepiest! Arnold, Gerald, and Helga are on the train when it screeches, lights flicker, and Brainy (the kid who breathes) is on the train with them.
+Ken Kaneki What about the ghost bride?
no, this is scarier than that.
The nightmare when Arnold dreamt of going to visit his cousin Arnie is top notch as well.
Creeped me out so bad as a kid too lol; but what's funnier is Arnold isn't even concerned about his Grampa part of the dream! XD
Me and homeboy use laugh our a$$es at this part.. LMAO 😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂
He was probably just happy to have Grampa still with him, even if he’s a zombie ❤️
Why would you let a creepy zombie-like 152 year old on your bus? The bus driver was probably scared shit-less!
HAHAHA So true
+Michael Pierce What did I tell you short man EHEHHEHEEH
In NYC? As long as that 152 year old zombie paid the fare he doesn't care.
Michael Pierce lmbo right!!! But then, he coulda simply been a spirit which can just appear almost anywhere...
As long as he doesn't bother the driver and behind the yellow line who cares
"I can't let that happen to Gerald and me"
...
He isn't concerned about his grandpa become a grotesque walking corpse? XD
His grandpa was already a grotesque walking corpse. Grandma too.
It did kinda spook him out of his sleep
I'd say he didn't react to that because he understood that the zombie grandpa thing was just the dream being a dream and wouldn't happen in real life, but him fighting with his friend could go on and on if they kept holding a grudge.
@@zauztheblacksmith And his grandparants would both pass away in their 90s and phil probably at 91. The average human lifespan.
@@thenextdouglassbubbletrous1062 Actually, Arnold's grandpa was shown to be pretty fit for his age.
Zombie. And a ton of people agree with you.
If grandpa Phil was alive in the bus. He would have to be at least 150 year's old
Headless horseman was pretty scary too
Train Engine 25
Phil was in his 80s. Arnold was 9. So if Arnold was in his 70s or 80s here, Phil would be at least 150 or older.
I love how he doesn't once mention his grampa being zombified, talking in a demonic tone and his jaw falling off. xD
This scene is one of the earliest memories I have as a child, which really speaks volumes about just how creepy this was to kids.
I’m 27 and I still remember how I got my first scar. I was 2 and I cut my head on a LEGO,
69th like
Well, that was disturbing.
I'm not stu. Muahahahah
I AM SPONGEBOB, DESTROYER OF EVIL This is where the scary videos collection is. IF I HAD ONE
You're not perfect.
"I can't let that happen to Gerald and me! Oh, and I'd better make sure Grandpa's jaw is screwed on while I'm at it."
Even as an adult, this is still terrifying!
You know! For kids!
EEEUUUGGHHHHEEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEEE!!!!!!!!!!
Yea us 90 kids were tough unlike the snowflake kids these days.
They used to make cartoons that adults could enjoy too
A "family" show!
@@Yezel93lol it doesn’t make us tough to watch hey Arnold dude…we were just normal
man people said "I'm not tommy" was really creepy, but this takes the cake in out of nowhere disturbing moments in kids cartoons
"I'm not Tommy" seems to crop up on every video about creepy moments in kid's shows. It really is the magnum opus. I legitimately had nightmares about that...
This scared me more than "I'm not Tommy", but I can admit that was another horrifying moment
I like how Arnold didn't mention his dream Zombie Grandpa' and instead focused on Gerald's friendship bond.
“ya can’t keep me buried forever short man”
dang this gave me such nightmares as a 7 year old
Same here.
becky floyd same here
becky floyd same here
The jaw falling off just made the whole thing twice as creepy. 😂
The fact that it sounds like he's being possessed by a demon (speaking with like two different voices like wtf) is the scary part for me. And the eyes, my god the eyes.
He's 170 years old, how is he supposed to sound? lol
+Taylor Lynn Of course he was possessed by a demon. How else could he still be alive?
+Micheal Polant He's almost like the dying Skeksi Emperor in THE DARK CRYSTAL.
He is almost eye-socketless
That’s probably due to the fact that it’s the grandpa’s spectral voice from beyond the grave speaking in its old physical form, it’s creepy because the two points aren’t humanly matching
I must be the only one here that wasn't scared of this as a kid; but creeped me out as I got older
i always laugh at this
scares me more now than when i was young 🤣
This actually made me burst out laughing as a kid
I'm 16 years old and when I first saw it I didn't really scare me but now that I saw it again It still didn't scare me but It sure as hell stuck with me
That got me good as a kid not gunna lie lol
I like how his jaw falls off and his remaining head is just floating lol
*That feeling when two elders are arguing on the bus and the zombie grandfather of one is cackling behind you*
The fact that Arnolds broken relationship scared him more than Zombie Grandpa.
I randomly remembered this scene existed and scared me as a kid, so I came to look if it was as bad as I remembered.
Yeah, still creepy.
I'll never forget this scene as an 8 year old. It scared me in a way that makes me remember it vividly. Crystal clear memory as if it was something traumatizing. Thumbs Up if Grandpa scared the shit out of you when you were a kid!
This fucker scared me as a kid!
What a jaw-dropping dream.
That Zombie Grandpa has been engraved in my brain for twelve years so far.
Notice how when his jaw breaks off, the top of his head floats in midair.

I'M NOT TOMMY!!!!

Radconl 12345 but seriously, they fucked my shit, with this episode... 😣
HUHUHUHEAHAHAHAHAHAH
MrReaperofDead so your tommy
well fuck....I must have repressed this memory....now I remember....
As a kid, this scene made me laugh, don't know about the rest of you.
Then again I've always had an affinity for horror.
the best part is where Arnold says WHOOOOAAA!
Bull crap that it thought that shit was creepy as hell when I was little.
This was really creepy, but for me as a kid it was really hilarious seeing Arnolds grandpa like that.
“well, I can’t let that happen to Gerald and me!” Dude. Your grandpa’s jaw fell off and you’re worried about your friendship?
Why in all my years of watching this show and this episode did I never notice that grandpas mouth fell off lmfao. I’m dying laughing 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
incase y'all are wondering, hey arnold now comes on teen nick after 11 pm
I think it's the combination of the fact that he'd have to be like 150 years old and the music, plus the jaw.
Look at his neck at 0:15 when his jaw falls.
I sort of laughed when his jaw fell out.
According to TV Tropes this would fall in the category of "Nightmare Fuel."
I remembered watching this scene with my sister during 8 years old..it’s terrify us…after that,I m not seem grandpa Phil the same way again 🤣

This scene and Speed Demon from The Powerpuff Girls is scarier than at least 98% of horror films and shows

LMAO, I actually remember this part, I would actually cover my eyes when his jaw fell off., since this was one of those most reruns on classic Nick.
This and the opening scene of “Are you afraid of the dark” when it zooms into the clown doll, always closed my eyes with both
head
Oh I like Are You Afraid of The Dark.
Whoa. I didn't remember this part. Then I clicked on this video. Suddenly a part of me totally remembers hiding this away from my mind... Awesome!!
This is really creepy for a cartoon! But then again this was back then when cartoons weren't crap! #90s kids!
Grandpa,
“Oh what did I tell you short man?!! Hehe!! Hehe!!”
One of the scariest scenes on a nickelodeon show
His grandfather was not alive in his dreams, it was his demon talking to him and only he saw and heard it.
holy shit, this is terrifying 😂 next to the haunted train song, this one still fucks with me lmao
Future and Evil Zombie Phil in Arnold's Nightmare.
If Grandpa is still alive he would be like 170 years old
Grandpa's Neck is not even connected after that jaw fell off.

When you realize short man was grandpa calling Arnold by his last name
Which is even more funny when you consider that Shortman is also Grandpa's last name.

gosh this was creepy, I loved this show but it had it's weird moments for sure.
