I love what a pragmatic, spacey kid Arnold was in season 1. I know they downplayed his flaws and quirks in later seasons, but to me, they made him a more appealing character.
Yeah honestly, Arnold felt like he had more personality in the first season before they sort of made him a one dimensional straight kid. And the other character were outrageous enough that it didn’t really affect the shows stories and humor, but Arnold was a much more interesting character in the earlier seasons.
Yeah and his voice was the best too

its around season 4 where hes often very serious (beforehands he was more childlike and had more quirks)

I saw this in a movie theater in like 1997 before "Harriet The Spy". Some representative came out before the movie and said that we'd be a test audience for a new show that was coming to Nickelodeon, then they played the pilot episode of Hey Arnold. Ah, fond memories of my 90s youth.

Hey Arnold needs to have a season 6 or reboot series of some sort. I know we just had the Jungle Movie a few years back but I still want to see more of his gang, his tenants, and of course, his parents. And with what’s been going on in the world lately there is plenty of story potential for a reboot.
It almost had a sequel series that would had focused on Helga in her teen years.
