This was my daddy's favorite song we sang it in the car all the time he was career Army and flew away alot . Hes in heaven now just like Merle and I hope they sing this song together to entertain God .

Love me some Merle. Ever since I was a youngster I've admired his talent. Had the good fortune to see him once in Lancaster, Texas. Little place call " Borrowed Money's Crystal Chandolier " When I say little I do mean little. Place had not even a stage. Let alone a drum riser. The band set up over in one corner. Tables were cleared except for a few around the perimeter. The main floor area was for dancing. And there were lots of folks dancing. No seating to speak of. If you wanted to sit you sat on the floor. Which I did. Right in front of the band. I couldn't have been more than 14 feet from Merle. I have been to plenty of concerts in my time. But seeing merle in Lancaster Texas in that small venue in 1979 was THE VERY BEST !!

My Daddy's Favorite too I lost My Daddy too to Covid Last Year! He was 73 He played guitar and sang Merle was his favorite and this song was his favorite!!!! I think the same thing hoping they could sing together in paradise May Your Dad REST IN PEACE!!!!!

I lived in NYC my girlfriend lived in California - this was one of her favorite songs - when she went back home we sang this song at JFK airport - tears were in our eyes

The mighty Merle with a wonderful band on this sad love song that he wrote. Mickey Rafael with his mouth harp adds so much to it.
Mickey Rafael is the "icing on the cake".
I remember him from before he worked himself into Willie’s band. He was backing up a friend in Dallas who played the guitar and sang. I never met Mickey but we nodded heads a few times when I was heading in and he was heading out a place where I drank beer 45-50 years ago.
For some reason my cat loved this song I would play it or sing to her she perked up.. I miss her she was eighteen. Then the next year my mom died. It's a good song but sad at the same.

One of a kind voice,brilliant story telling, and just reminds me of happier and simpler time when I was a kid hearing my dad listening to him.There's nobody that could ever compare to ....THE HAG!
