    I'll have you know that my stock travel trailer mattress is pure luxury camping. Like sleeping on a cloud... a cloud filled with angry bees nesting in a pile of broken twigs. Waking up with a crick in your neck is practically a rite of passage! But hey, that just adds some rustic charm to your morning.
    And let's not forget the delightful "cuddle cove." A perfect little indentation where you and your significant other can become permanently entangled, like shipwreck survivors clinging to a deflated pool float... in the middle of a bear attack. Just remember, intimacy is key, especially when you can't physically separate yourselves from the mattress!
    It's the true roughing-it experience. We are camping after all 🤷🏾‍♂ Sure, some folks might be wimps and opt for a comfy Brooklyn Bedding mattress or that fancy new hammock thing, but where's the challenge in that? This bad boy here will have you yearning for the sweet embrace of terra firma - you know, sleeping directly on the good ol' fashioned dirt. Now that's what I call communing with nature!

    No on the disposal from me. There usually is not a gray tank flush and it may be tough getting all the food material out of the tank, cleaning sensors, etc. The little bit from washing dishes in the sink is one thing but to purposefully put food in is not ideal in my opinion.

    @rcarey3965 Před 2 měsĂci +5

    Garbage Disposal - I would think you wouldn’t want that stuff in your grey tank - I wouldn’t, seems like it would be better in the black tank. It’s kind of a macerater for food waste right?

    After having been confronted with two low height overpasses since we started full timing - one of which required me to back up the motorhome for about a mile and a half to turn around - I will never travel without an RV specific GPS.

    We drive a Class C and the sounds coming from our dishes/utensils while we drove was maddening! I tried all kinds of suggestions...the one I LOVE is using tent camping bowls, utensils, cups. They nest and don't require a towel between to keep from rattling 😊

    As for RV GPS. I do use RV life in my route planning but this put the info into my iMaps app because I like how it gives me the play by play. But I will tell you, it you get off the highways it comes in handy. I mouchdocked at a friends and went into a little down town to get gas, my imaps put me on a road with a 10’ overpass when I tried to find my way back to the highway. So it doesn’t hurt to have an app that can tell you about height and weight in advance sometimes. If you know you are traveling where semi’s travel all the time go for it.

    Appliances: Replaced our $1400 Furrion 12v piece of junk inefficient fridge with an LG high efficiency inverter residential fridge and added an 800w inverter, for $580 total cost ($400 fridge, $180 inverter), and it works better, quieter, and uses only half the power of the Furrion. The biggest drawback is lack of door latches - but we use child locks, which (sort of) works
    GPS: I use Sygic Truck app because it plans routes and gives more accurate ETA's based on my top driving speed (60mph). I would rate it overall as good - NOT great - because it's a bit wonky, and it has some peculiarities that are less than ideal (slightly sluggish, likes to count driveways as roads ("Take the third right" - well two of the rights are driveways)). Also, if you're looking for things on the fly (restaurants, gas, etc), Google is better. Typically, I use both - Sygic for the main route, Google for local and traffic

    Two comments one on the garbage disposal idk but I suspect that putting ground food waste into you gray tank would end up being problematic because it will never break down like human waste does in your black tank and build up and start smell really bad. Second comment on the winegrard products I agree there much better solutions for streaming than what they offer with one exception the plan old 360 antenna not the 360 plus just the 360. I put one on my coach just to pick up over the air TV and it works great when I installed it at my house I went from around 6 channels to 50. The main reason I like the over the air channels when I’m traveling and there is bad weather around we can tune into the local weather. Great video you two are fun to watch. Safe travels

    Disposal sounds like a good idea. A few things come to mind. Weight on sink/pipes, vibration These could be mitigated though. I think, due to what’s being ground up, the macerator is dealing with “softer stuff” than say hard vegetable scraps and such so they might be lighter and lower power. Love to see you try it!

    This may be a dumb question but we just can’t figure this out.
    We have Newmar Baystar and we are getting ready for our first trip out and are filling our fresh water tank and want to use the camco drinking water fresher. We understand the instructions but how and where do we get it in our fresh water tank??? I would assume it’s simple but we just can’t figure it out. 🤪 the only place to fill the tank is by the hose.

    Love waking up with you guys! You're so down to Earth. Anyway. We are going full time starting this summer. Right now hubby and I are a little at odds about our microwave. We have a great micro in our house that I would love to replace our rv micro with. It's a little smaller than what is there and he is all "it has to be the same size!" We have a tiffin bus and he doesn't want to spoil the aesthetics. Any thoughts?

      If the one in the Tiffin works, I would just keep it. No sense in replacing something that fits and works well. 😊

    Hmm, Tv and convection oven. I guess Winnebago did that well as all mine are Samsung TV, and the convection is a whirlpool that are all the same as you can get for home at any big box store. Oh, and a samsung sound bar too. So this is good for some rigs perhaps, but some may already have decent equipment from the manufacturer.

    • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  Před 2 měsĂci

      That’s great! Our current RV has Samsung TVs and a Bose sound bar so those haven’t been swapped out. Our previous two RVs had none of that.

  • @Patty747
    @Patty747 Před 2 měsĂci +4

    Garbage disposals were originally designed so people would stop throwing food away in the garbage. They were for city people, to discourage rats from foraging in the garbage. In an RV you want to minimize the amount of food waste that goes into your grey tank, to prevent smelly water! At campgrounds most garbage is either collected or you put it in a dumpster yourself, it isn't allowed to sit outside your RV for endless hours at a time.

    Planning your route is great, unfortunately one day there will be a detour and you won't have time to re route on your own and Google will take you down a narrow road, alley street with low hanging trees, signs etc. You will wish you had the RV specific gps. Ask me how I know NEVER AGAIN for Google.
    Safe travels

    • @Five2Go
      @Five2Go  Před 2 měsĂci +1

      When we say we look ahead on a route, we mean we _really_ look ahead. We've traveled over 70k miles with our RVs and have never once had to back up because of a low bridge, bad turn, or tight street (just because of idiots in gas stations). I've heard several stories from the guys with RV GPS units about bad routing, super long and unnecessary alternate routes, and headaches with software updates and getting routes onto those devices. We've figured out what works for us and I just haven't personally seen the evidence that those things are worth it.
