      Your framework of thinking is as defective as the kind of thinking that has landed Kenya into the abyss in which we are.
      Firstly there is no such thing as Govt/Opposition matrix in keeping the Executive in check.
      The Govt has 3 arms and the arm that is responsible for creating all the messes we see around is the arm called the Executive. Oversighting that arm of the Govt is the responsibility of Parliament. And the constitution empowers you to directly determine the kind of people who occupy the TWO top seats in the Executive as well as in Parliament.
      Therefore if you decide to elect Executive thieves, and you also decide to elect dunderheads for MPs, then you have no one to blame except yourself.
      Secondly 2010 constitution re-arranged governance structures. It got rid of an Opposition, so the so called Opposition is only existing in your head.
      Thirdly it strengthened the role of Parliament in oversighting the Executive by kicking the Executive out of Parliament, unlike the old Constitution in which the Executive held sway in Parliament through Ministers and their Assistants
      Lastly, Parliament was realigned to work together in oversighting the Executive by removing "Opposition side" and "Government side". Instead, those were replaced by Minority and Majority sides, to emphasize their collective role in oversighting the Executive.
      So stop hoping for some non-existent opposition to save you from your Executive thieves. Demand of your MP that he/she must play his/her role in oversighting the Executive

      What you have stated is the sad truth that cuts across the country. Most of Kenyan voters don't understand the role of an MP. Some vote for "mtu ya watu". Some premise their vote on "even if he is a thief, he is our thief and eats with us"! With such lousy voter mindsets, you can only expect a rotten Parliament. Voters don't understand the role of an MP and MPs don't understand their role in invigorating Parliament. Weren't some of them found the other day going to State House to "look for development"? It is a tragicomedy situation we have in our politics

    Kenyans have been played like fools by the Kenyatta family. We thought we were getting independence and freedom from our colonial masters but we remained economically colonized. The civil servants in the various ministries and institutions have been helping the Kenyatta family and the colonialist and when Uhuru Kenyatta came to power they decided to cash out their investment and leave Kenyans bankrupt. A deal was made between Uhuru and Ruto to get them both out of ICC at the expense of Kenyan's inheritance. The Kenyan currency notes were changed during the Jubilee era now we know why. Kenyatta and Ruto pretended to fall out at the end of the Jubilee Government 1st term. Raila was tricked into a hand shake that made him an accomplice. Parliament can't provide oversight because most have also been compromised. The Kenyatta family control a considerable share of the banking industry of Kenya and are the biggest beneficiaries of Jubilee Government domestic borrowing. This is the biggest scandal Africa has ever seen. Everything we have come to believe about our politics since Jubilee came to power has been a big lie. The only real option we have is to declare the debt illegal and refuse to pay every other option will be equivalent to cutting the tree from the trunk instead of uprooting it.

    • @georgeodhiambo598
      @georgeodhiambo598 Před rokem

      Without discounting what Wanjigi has stated, it is possible for debt to grow as you pay. If borrowings over any period are in excess of repayments then your debt will grow over that period. The only way of reducing debt is by paying more than you borrow. Or perhaps by begging for debt right-offs, which doesn't come easy.

    Uhuru and Ruto must be knowing what happened and who benefitted. They must be protecting each other. Why did Ruto appoint former Central bank governor at the time most of this funds were borrowed as the current CS Finance and former PS Finance as Governor Central bank? Why is the government silent about the pertinent issues Jimmy is raising? Why is Azimio silent? Are they protecting Uhuru?

    • @georgeodhiambo598
      @georgeodhiambo598 Před rokem +2

      Ask not why Azimio is silent. All Kenyans should individually ask why ask why their MP is silent. This is the kind of stuff that the Constitution mandates Parliament to carry out under oversight. Parliament can collectively summon any public servant including CSs to explain the kind of discrepancies Wanjigi is talking about. They can demand any report/document from any public institution. But what do they do when they reach Parliament? They mentally divide themselves into non-existent "Government" and "Opposition" sides and vote mechanically on issues like sheep. It is Parliament which if failing the people of Kenya.
