The Council of Trent issued an anathema to anyone who denied the Canon of Scripture they set forth, protestants deny this canon. Protestants are wrong, since the council of Rome which predates Protestantism by over 1000 years, the Church has regarded the books they reject as scripture. The doctrine of Magisterium gives the Catholic Church interpretation rights as well, which is why protestants have 33,000 denominations, they fumble with scripture to their own destruction.

Both cant be right. I have one saying:
Do not call any man Father
      Only one mediator. no co-mediatrix

As a Catholic who wants to learn and understand the Bible better I'm looking for resources or groups where studying and learning the Bible would make it a more wholesome experience.
To my surprise, there are 5 Catholic churches where I live within a 4 mile radius. I checked with all of them and none had any Bible study groups or classes. A few weeks later one of the churches called me back and said they would have a Bible workshop. I said great, can you tell me more about it. The lady then said that a guest bishop from south America would give talks about the Bible for 2 weekends. Problem is he's giving a talk, that's not a class or study group.
For the heck of it, I checked with a Protestant church 3 miles from my house and they said they do have a Bible study/class that goes year round 3 times a week. That really blew me away. The Catholic church is the largest in the world. Have the most amount of money and resources yet they put so little effort in teaching their followers about the Bible. Actually no effort was put in by them at all.
Anyways I read the Bible myself and within a few months I never felt more complete and closer to God. The Catholic church has value to Christianity and the community. But I don't feel its essential, just like any other church. What IS essential is for one to seek God thru Jesus and read the gospel. That in itself is sufficient for salvation.

Luther also wanted to remove Revelations and Epistle of James. Some others with him told him to not do that. To my Protestant family, can you imagine Revelations being out of the Bible. I could remove books and add a word that coincided with my ideology of the Christian faith. Would you then accept that because you did not agree with Truth from the first and only Bible from the beginning of Christianity? As Pilate asked Jesus “What is Truth?” If you go to the Bible to find out, do you realize you do not have the Truth in Protestant Bibles? Could you change the Bible you have now and have it accepted by other Protestants? Truth seems simple, but must discern just as the Apostles did. Seemed much easier then because they personally knew Jesus. But they spoke to many who did not know Jesus. Why has the Truth of the Hebrew Bible that Jesus knew, not good enough for Christians after 1500 years? I sure don’t know nor could explain. Even I am like the Eunuch who needed an apostle to explain the Words of the Hebrew Bible so he could understand and accept Jesus as the Messiah spoken of in prophecies. Would love to have been with the two men on the road to Emmaus when Jesus, The Messiah, explained how and why the prophecies were fulfilled. Then they recognized Him in the breaking of the Bread, what we call the Holy Eucharist. Fantastic experience - another one!

Those 7 books were canonized by the CC in the late 4th century BEFORE the Jews had even agreed on a closed canon for the OT. All the Council of Trent did in the 16th century was to reaffirm dogmatically what numerous Catholic councils had declared previously...WITHOUT CHANGE from the 4th century....what the approved canon was. Previously, the ecumenical Council of Florence in 1440 reaffirmed the 73 book canon....Trent made it dogma because the "Reformers" had no authority to even suggest removal (it finally happened in the 19th century).. It does make a difference. If you’re Catholic, you should have a Bible that is approved by the Catholic Church. There are of course several in the English language. Nowadays what makes a Bible “Catholic” is that it includes all 73 books of Sacred Scripture. Most Protestant translations nowadays only have 39 books in the Old Testament, while Catholic translations have 46. Both Protestants and Catholics have all 27 books of the New Testament.
The books that are often called deuterocanonical or “apocryphal” by Protestants and Jews are as follows: Sirach, Wisdom, Tobit, Judith, Baruch, and 1 & 2 Maccabees. These were written not long before Jesus was born in the Second Temple period.
There are also additions to Esther and Daniel not found in Protestant translations that are included in Catholic ones. Beyond that, Protestant and Catholic Bibles are mostly identical.

All the passages about the ten commandments are the exact same in the Catholic Bible. Through the years there have been several different ways of dividing things into ten, since there are more than 10 "thou shalt/thou shalt not" statements. The Catholic division is how Augustine and many Church fathers divided the commandments. The "do not make graven images" part is included under "thou shalt have no other gods beside me." Also, I think @PD-yd3fr doesn't understand the meaning of "graven image." A graven image is specifically something that is worshipped as God or in place of God. Nobody could have nativity scenes or cross necklaces if all reverent images or statues are to be rejected.

Understand too that Martin Luther was quite anti-semitic so his exclusion of a number of Jewish books from the OT was not surprising. One of his problems with the Church was that he believed that they were not trying hard enough to convert the Jews. If there was any doubt that his protestations against the Jewish people was nothing more than 'banter' (for lack of a better word), then the release of his book "The Jews and Their Lies' in 1543 certainly put a stop to that.

Watch the movie “Heaven is real” and it will get you started on little Colton Burpo is his name and when he was in heaven, that’s who he spoke to and he confirmed his looks when his dad, a pastor, was flipping through pictures and when he came past the pic of the painting Akiane did, he said that’s what he looks like. I just know when your body has something happen and near death, the lord uses that to show them either taking them home or most have said he gave them a choice but he still had work for them on earth. For me, I was not walking on the same or righteous path for many years and when we walked, he and I spoke about how he’s always near me and would not ever leave me. He was right behind my right side and when I ran ahead and seeing if he would be there, I stopped, turned around and there he was. He never left me. It changed me in a profound way and it got me back on the right path. Even family and friends say they could see a complete change in how I am after that. Here’s one thing from my Covid experience: I had been given a high chance of not making it through the night in the ER by the doc. During of which I was in the hospital for 3 days and on that 3rd day, I woke up with the Covid doctor and team doing all the tests they could like chest X-ray, blood labs, renal output etc, and on that 3rd day the Covid doctor I had came in and said she was here when I came in and saw how bad I was and she could not find anything in my body that would show I ever even had Covid. It was as if it was erased from my body. Most patients, she said, stay at least a couple weeks or more as bad as I was. She discharged me that afternoon. “3 DAYS”! Almost like it took 3 days for Jesus to die and come to life. It baffles me why he would do that for me and the doctor said she had no medical answer other than it had to be of God. I think that too. That’s my story and I feel I’m not looking for anyone to believe it so I now go on in my life knowing I was given a miracle. I weep when I was given that when there are others out there that are worst off than I or far more deserving then me that they should have gotten that miracle. So I always ask… Why me?
All NDE’s I hear about seem to have a commonality. That they believe in the lord and that he’s not just some fictional person in a book of stories. It makes it more believable when I read scriptures that I know what he looks like. I sometimes feel like I let him down but I read a daily devotion the other day that said we could never let him down and he has more grace than we know.

I find it hard to believe that the Apocrypha is the main difference between the two.
For starters, the original manuscripts are gone (withered away?....lost?...burned?.......2000 years is a long time).
Since there were no Copy machines back then, a new church had a person (scribe) do the "copying" by hand from another church. At the same time, the "copying" involved understanding the intention of the original author and the scribe determining how the members of the new church were to make sense of it. That is, even though they maybe spoke the same language, the region used certain words that did not have the exact same meaning so the scribes, most likely, used their "local" words.
As I understand it, those who came up with the King James Version used manuscript "copies" that had been made 4 centuries before. Were these "copies" the same ones that were used for the Catholic English version?
If you place Bible verses side-by-side (Catholic verse on one side and KJB on the other), do they use the same exact words?

No, there are many omissions in newer versions of the Bible. Unfortunately the catholic church doesn’t have real biblical study which we are commanded to do. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
      And consider -
1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
1 Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
1 Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
Mark 7:7. “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Hello, I just want to point out that we catholics do study the Bible. Actually, discussion is one of the main activities we do during cathecism, vigiles, when we gather to pray the rosary and some even like to discuss it one on one with the priest during confession. If you approah a priest, I have yet to find one that doesn't welcome questions and different perspectives on the Bible. I know there is that myth that catholics do not analyse or discuss the Bible but at least that is not my experience. I mean, the fact the conciles even exist is prove that the Bible is discussed. You may say that only the highest ranked priest attend conciles and such, and that is true, but that doesn't mean the rest of the Church is not present. We are in the sense that outside we keep discussing and our concerns are brought through the bishops, archbishops and cardinals, etc. But that is just for topics and situations that need a definitive solution. Discussion happens in all levels of the hierarchy and is pretty much horizontal most of the time. Only those things that are pressing get a definitive solution and those are meant to keep the Church united. There is a good balance (in my opinion) between horizontality and verticality in the Church structure.
I hope this helps. Sorry if the writing is not perfect. English is not my first language, but I tried my best. I know at times when writing my tone can seem a bit cold. Sorry for that. I love reading protestant perspectives, even if I do not agree all the time and obviuosly not in every topic. Thank you very much.

To clear up confusion about the what church is established, guided, and directed by the Lord himself one only needs to look at the church he began when Jesus Christ lived on the earth. He has said "One Faith, One Lord, One Baptism" Not 10,20, etc different churches and different beliefs. When Jesus was on the earth he established a church with Specific callings (Apostles - Prophets, Seventy, Elders, Bishops, Patriarchs, Deacons, Teachers, Priests), he also has the Priesthood Authority given from Jesus to his Apostles and others in the Church, He had Revelation or Communication between God and man for the directly of the Church as a whole, and finally it was his church or "The Church of Jesus Christ" versus someone elses church whether Lutheran, Catholic, St Peter, Methodist, etc. That Church fell away over a short time after the Apostles were killed and the church that he established was no longer on the earth. We had the Catholic church begain at the Council of Nicea and other Prostantant churches form in the 1700's. What was needed was a complete Restoral or Restoration of Christs original church and all its tenants. That Church was restored back to the earth in the early 1800's by Christ himself and Prophets and known today again as "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has that Priesthood power restored (See church History of restoration of the Priesthood), Same callings and positions in the Church ((Apostles - Prophets, Seventy, Elders, Bishops, Patriarchs, Deacons, Teachers, Priests), and Living Prophets today on the earth that receive Revelation or Communication from God for the direction of his church. Furthermore, the Lord has give us additional scripture to draw us closer to Jesus Christ per the Book of Mormon, D&C and Pearl of Great Price. You dont' have to take my word for it but one can reach the Book of Mormon, Learn about his church and pray to God for answer and confirmation if one is earnest. Again, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his Kingdom once again restored back to the earth preparatory to his second coming.

Man, that's a whole lotta lies, Jesus established the catholic church. Said church was not lost or repressed for years as that would mean almost 1800 years of people failed to follow Christ's real church. So Jesus who founded his church did it wrong as it would take one of his own actions failing in order to say this making it so all those people had it wrong and a couple of random people out of nowhere in the 1800s got it right? Really, that's so hard to believe it's outrageous. That belief system requires arguing that Jesus made a mistake or that God failed to keep his church around through his people. Clearly that's insane, God doesn't make mistakes or fail.

@Joseph-Haddad I know it can be difficult and even shocking, to learn that something you were taught and believed was not just a mistake, but a lie. But I won’t lie to you. That verse in that chapter says nothing about Jesus sharing the task of intercession with Believers who’ve past on before us. Not at all. It doesn’t even imply or allude to such a thing.
Who ever taught you that Past saints intercede for us who remain on Earth, did so out of Ignorance of Scripture or by design, but it is just not true.
That whole chapter is about how we should conduct ourselves as Saved individuals knowing that We have an avenue to Heave in Jesus Christ, even the Lord God Himself, that those in the past did not Have as when God appeared in Fire and Smoke on a Mountain in the Old Testament, and people could not approach or touch That Mountain without fear of Death!
Knowing now that we are in the Presents of Heavenly wittinesses from Past Saints to Angels and even God Himself, even though we are still on Earth, we should conduct ourselves accordingly.
But it says nothing about Jesus Sharing his authority to intercede between Man and GOD with ANYONE else. This is not the only Scripture that the RCC has misrepresented to try to make them fit their narrative. Yes we can pray to intercede on behalf of each other who are alive as Paul instructed us, but there is one Intercessor between Mankind and God and that is Jesus Christ our only High Priest. That will never change according to Scripture. ( Hebrews 7:25 and Hebrews 4: 14-16)

Christ alone, Scripture alone, Faith alone, Grace alone. Any prayer offered other than to Jesus himself, simply bounces off the ceiling and comes back to you. That’s why I left the Catholic Church. If it’s Jesus plus works is, what it takes to get to heaven then we’d all fail. I have issues with Catholics that are different. I was saved in a Protestant church (assembly of God) and was taught when you sin against another person, you have to get their forgiveness because they were the one that was offended by the sin. But what I don’t believe is when you sin, it’s not a catholic priest you should be asking forgiveness, you didn’t sin against them. So how can they forgive you in that regard. The other thing is when you’ve finished talking to the catholic priest (for lack of a better term), they have you saying how many Hail Marys or lords prayers etc… that doesn’t cleanse you of your sins, that’s just memorizing what they said to repeat. And I’ve known some teammates in my army unit that were catholic that drank to get drunk and slept with women etc and when I asked them later about their walk with the lord and how can they do this knowing it’s a sin, they just replied it was ok cause they’ll just ask the priest for forgiveness in mass and clean slate the whole thing so they could keep doing it for another week. I just put that in the category that maybe their relationship with our Lord may not be good. I’m not perfect and I am a sinner. I will sin till the day I die, because we are human and not perfect. But in my relationship with the a lord, I strive to pray to him and work on not committing sin knowing I will never be perfect, Jesus was.

There is no reason for them to be in the real true Bible! They are NOT God inspired.
This time period is often referred to as “The Silent Years.” Because none of the Apocryphal books were written by a recognized prophet of God, they cannot be placed on the same level as the Old Testament Scriptures, all of which were authored by a prophet such as Moses, Samuel, Daniel, or Jeremiah.

The difference between catholic and protestant. Protestants believe faith in Christ is enough and catholics believe faith in Mary and Jesus is required.
Mary’s intercession is not only useful but necessary for salvation: St. Alphonsus Liguori.
St. Alphonsus de Liguori IT is impossible for clients of Mary to be damned, if they faithfully honor her and commend themselves to her.
St. Anselm "Just as it is impossible for persons to be saved who have no devotion to Mary and are not protected by her, so it is impossible for any who recommend themselves to her, and are therefore watched over by her, to be lost
St. Albert the Great: All those who are not your servants, O Mary, shall perish.
St. Bonaventure: Those who neglect our Lady will die in their sins. Those who do not call on you in life will never get to Heaven.
St. Ephrem calling devotion to our Blessed Lady the charter (or passport) to liberty, and Mary herself the protectress of the damned. Mary has both the power and the will to save us.
Father Alfonso Alvarez claimed the devil told him to "Give up your devotion to Mary, and I will leave you alone."
St. Catherine of Siena claimed God told her, "No one, not even sinners, who devoutly recommend themselves to her, would ever fall into Hell"
Blessed Henry Suso I put his soul in Mary's hands. Therefore, if his Judge wished to condemn him to Hell, her most loving hands would have to handle the sentence.
St. Bonaventure: "In you, O Lady, I have placed all my hopes." I have therefore the utmost assurance that I shall never be lost, but shall praise and love you forever in Heaven.
St. Antonine let all tremble for their salvation who make but small account of their devotion to the Mother of God, or grow careless and give it up: it is impossible for anyone not protected by Mary to be saved

No difference, figments of people's imagination. If God was any good he would have made it very clear. Ask yourself how many sects of God religions there are and why it is open to interpretation.

Estimations show there are more than 200 Christian denominations in the U.S. and a staggering 45,000 globally, according to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity. So in conclusion, BOTH the Roman Catholic Bible & the Protestant Bible are NOT the INFALLIBLE WORD of God & are NOT the INSPIRED WORD of God.!
Blame it on the Holy Ghost.!!
