    WHY SIGN UP TO PATREON?
No reviewer can benchmark best products or their favourites on CZcams, for fear of alienating brands away from loaning products. I feature broadly competitive products on CZcams but 'best' does exist in the confines of preference, objective comparison and consensus opinion on one level , and 'absolute best' that most will go along with, on another. It means you don't fall down rabbit holes of buying products that, relatively speaking, don't perform as well. I don't give awards which can be misleading by overlap with newer awards, and not being capable of responding to change as the product goalposts change or pricing in different countries. Also the model of monetising awards isn't one I want to follow so I can be independent and not influenced to say a product is say 'outstanding' because I know a brand would pay for the privilege of such an award, which is how many reviewers monetise. Ideally I want to be sponsored mainly by and consider my Patreon audience as my customers and if I can get to 300 Patreon subscribers, I can sustain 13th Note... but at the same time be a force for trust, honesty and credibility in this industry (which is one of my original aims)
    WANT PERSONAL ADVICE?
If you want single advice (or like what I do and want to support me) please make donations via CZcams Super Thanks (click on the dollar icon under the main window) or PayPal Me as I no longer respond to advice queries on CZcams. I charge £25 for a 1 hour consultation on Zoom which is cheaper than many others.

This video is being sponsored by Adam Audio as a guide to using this software with A series speakers for Audiophiles. In this sense it is not a review per see, and as I explain it will depend on your experiences - plus it is a guide to equipment needed and software set up. The software and mic were donated by Sonarworks as I explained in the video.
HOW LONG DID THE VIDEO TAKE TO MAKE?
In this case the time to make it was approx. 70 hours of work of research, listening to gear and swapping out systems, watching and reading other reviews after forming opinions, scripting, setting up cameras and filming pieces to camera, shooting b-roll, editing all clips with creative clips in software like Blender & After Effects, creating the thumbnails, publishing to CZcams, creating articles.
This all means video production is very hard work and another reason why I ask people to be my Patreon.

    NOTES
*1 COMPARISONS OF UNREVIEWED GEAR : Please don't ask me how a product compares to another which I haven't reviewed, as it isn't possible to comment on such products I haven't tested. Check out my website for reviews of products I have completed instead (hit the review tag, and separate tags).
*2 MORE ADVICE : If you are asking me how does X product compare to Y that I HAVE reviewed, or how does something sound beyond comment in videos, or system / further advice, please sign up to Patreon (small amounts!) or make contributions via PayPal where we text chat or Zoom etc. I can't answer all questions free on CZcams! I only charge £25 for an hour consultation on Zoom of all my experiences, which is cheaper than many.
*3 ABUSE POLICY : I encourage and like debate, and constructive criticism, but people who abuse or troll me, or my subscribers or commenters, post very negative and non constructive and uncorroborated comments designed to put me or others down (where they don't explain themselves), or they could be perceived as such, as well as aggressive comments / hate, or pit my subscribers against me, get their comments removed and I hide them from commenting again. I don’t need the hassle of these people for all the work I put in! Again I don’t mind people who disagree with me, where they explain, or indeed debate, but I tend to delete comments that are not substantiated where the poster doesn’t explain themselves e.g just ‘this amp is really bad’ as it doesn't add to the discussion and detracts from my efforts

I agree, room correction won't always be necessary.
    My five cents:
    - To fight room modes, I just play pink noise and run an RTA freeware on my phone. Shows me well enough where I've got to reduce bass. Big value of that method in small rooms.
    - In terms of bass nulls it's probably more worth to move the speaker to a different location
    - small speakers with not much bass won't create bass resonances in big rooms, no need for correction :-)
    - Above 300Hz I get different FR when I move the mic only a little bit. Not much worth correcting against room reflections there.
    - For some speakers the FR correction above 300Hz might rather smooth out speaker imperfections than room reflections. And some speakers sound boring with a linear FR. I'm kind of "Team McGowan" in that aspect
    - If you clap your hands in the room and hear the reverb then don't bother with room correction. No precise sound to be expected in that room.

Great software indeed! I own it for a few years already. At first Reference 4, and now SoundID Reference in a kind of hardware configuration you have demonstrated. It works great 👍. The only (major) problem I still have is that it doesn’t work over UPnP/DLNA in the new SoundID Reference version anymore. I’m still in very good contact with them to solve this (great service, anyhow!). For headphones it works great already, but not over UPnP/DLNA, unfortunately. If they get this working, it’s certainly a great 👍 tool for a lot of HiFi enthusiasts!

I have a dual purpose system...for 2 channel listening and home theater. This system is in my family room, which is imperfect in a number of ways. Your point about the benefit of using room correction, in a room where room treatments aren't possible, definitely applies to my situation. In my system, i use Anthem ARC. As i can quickly toggle room correction on and off, it's interesting to hear the difference it makes. Looking at it pragmatically, I'm not sure why someone would say it's appropriate for multichannel but not 2 channel. That really makes no sense...as the vast majority of listeners have imperfect listening spaces that can be improved by room correction software.
It will be interesting to hear your thoughts when you feed it through your H390. I have wondered how that would have sounded in my space, although i no longer have my H390 to test that. I do know that there is a profound difference with my Anthem/Parasound A31 setup.

Thanks for the walkthrough! As there is not a lot of info to be found yet allow me to ask a few questions since I am considering buying the A7V specifically for that feature:
    1) Is it possible to do the same SoundID procedure a third-party measurement microphone (assuming it has a calibration txt)? I do not really get the purpose of the reference number of Sonarworks mic...
    2) Is the separate Volt USB interface required? When doing measurements with REW and my mic I just connected the mic via USB-C and fed the speakers seperately.
    3) Last question: I read the speakers have to be connected via cable but I assume this is a separate step from the measuring itself, right? Asking because my router is in another room and I would need to take the Adams over there to connect them in order to feed them the profile.
    Appreciate your answer :)

      1. Yes. I think it will have a file you can input
      2. Yes, as said in vid - a usb type eg volt / focusrite etc
      3. You need a Wi-Fi extender with lan ports, which is what I use as my main router is in another room. When you feed the profile to the a7v they need to have Ethernet cables connected to the extender or router. You can take these out once profile stored to their dsp (ext setting)

I was wondering what is the impact od external dac on overall quality of the sound. I am a bit confused because A7Vs have an internal 24/192 processor build in. If I decide to upgrade to those speakers would my RME ADI-2/4 Pro Se make any difference?

It should be additive as the analogue chain ads up people often say. But then again because of the processing in the speaker you can get away with cheaper dacs or streamers if you use a dac with volume control etc. I would keep the rme as it allows all the functions within it like eq etc.

I have had good luck using the PEQ filters in the Wiim. You still need a measurement mic but REW is of course free..u just need a little patience to learn the software or find a good guide.

I'm considering a pair of A8H's for HiFi/Home Cinema use. Do you think those would be a good fit as the A7V's are?

I definitely think they would. And you can buy confidently knowing the studio ideal gets you great value.
