why is there no stock of Aune s9c pro in UK apart from the faulty one on ebay and the one that comes with the headphones from I think it was Eden Audio..Very weird

I just received my new 22i speakers, and they are an amazing speaker. Full range no fatigue on the tweeter, and a nice tight bass. The highs are not rolled off at all, they are very accurate and articulate. I have them paired with a Sugden IA-4 class A amp. That is an amazing pairing.

Certain songs show that they are playing but there is no sound?

Late to the party here, Simon. Great review. I'm putting my first headfi rig together in anticipation of the forthcoming Verum 2s release. Today I dug out my long retired Aries Mini. Going to use it to stream Tidal to an Aune s9c Pro. Having connected the Mini to my main rig earlier I reckon the headfi rig will be excellent. So yes, the transport dilemma is easily solved.... get a good DAC!

Being a huge Auralic fan 😉 I was wondering if you would like to make a review of the new Auralic Vega S1 streamer/dac? It's only £ 1999,- so the theory of deminishing returns in this case isn't as obvious I suspect. Best regards, Jos(NL)

Totem has enjoyed the highest regard from owners. That said, they have pushed the Bison. But why. In their highest ranks we find to Torrent Driver. Absolutely superb. On the more acceptable end of pricing we find the Bison in a single or a twin. This frustrates me. The Totem Forest and Signature Forest have been around for a very long time. It’s expensive. A tower speaker that boasts incredible results. It uses a driver called the Hi Vi D 6.8. The cost of this driver is only 168 dollars Canadian. This Totem Forest speaker needs a refresh. If Totem utilized the Purifi 6.5 woofer? Not a single person would consider the Bison line.

Thanks Simon. I’ve bought the Poly Mojo 2 and it’s one of the best audiophile investments I’ve ever made. Portable music is sublime and when I use the combo in one of my home systems, it renews my love of music with the way Rob Watts has voiced it. Love it!

I am looking everywhere for an amp and to pair with Focal Kanta 2. My budget is $6,000 but the catch is that it needs to fit on a console table that’s only 15 inches deep. I would love the h190 or any number of other top tier integrateds or separates. I just don’t have the space. Will the h120 give me the best out of the Kanta considering my predicament? Anyone know of better options that fit on my table? I could get a DMPA8 and stereo amps provided they fit.

Great review, I have the A7v’s for music production, and i was shocked how tight all the references were. I was using KRK v6 s4’s, Adam A7v’s kick them out the park

I’m using the A6 ME into my Denafrips Iris DDC into Denafrips Pontus 2 upgraded FPGA. It sounds great. Haven’t touched the EQ or Linear PS yet. I’m happy as it is tbh. Maybe at a later date.

For NAS im currently using Emby. Their app is just nicer to use imo. You can set DNLA to control the WIIM

I have a PC and I stream from it. Sounds great. I don't see any reason to buy a streamer.

Nice review...the halo may looks very nice and decent price...never had the chance to hear it...however , I had the chance to demo the aqua la scala and formula DAC's in my system...so glad i had the demo first before selecting....because the la scala is very nice but I would not have selected it over my already present DAC...then i tried the formula and let me say that it's a game changer but at a costly endeavor...so I would say don't waste your money on other inferior DAC's...save up and get the formula and I can assure you will be happy with waiting...and If possible get a home demo in your own system...

My streamer is a Raspberry Pi/Allo DigiOne sig/Paul Hynes SR4 LPSU running Logitech Media Server. It's the last bit of gear that I'm looking to replace as I figure I'd have to spend a bundle to hear a significant improvement in SQ. What's more I'd run the risk of being disappointed with buggy proprietary software or be forced into forking over for Roon.

I run a DMP A6 Master Edition as it has the better clock. Into a Chord Qutest. I am extremely happy with the sound quality it's very 3d soundstage very musical. I run it into a Burmester 082 amp and Wharfedale Evo 4.4 Speakers( pending upgrade).

I have to comment . Generally being duel mono construction does not automatically mean it’s fully balanced . From my experience with pro audio gear fully balanced equipment ( in side ) is crazy expensive . A decent fully balanced compressor is over 40k , more for dual channel . So I’m thinking a fully balanced DAC , and in the overpriced land of hifi would be around 40k .

I’d have to say that a used G1.1 is really hard to beat.

Simon, great content. Perhaps you could help me with a query? At a budget of around 4000 GBP including the DAC, which power amp would suit this DAC? I need something that can sound good at low volumes too. I only listen through USB / Mac with Qobuz and high res files, I like to feel the sound out in the room as much as possible if that makes sense. Perhaps a Denefrips Thallo? Actually I was going to go all in on a Denefrips system but there would be no headphone amp, hence my looking elsewhere.

when you talk about the hdmi option connection. can i use hdmi from graphics card to in put hdmi fiio r9. then the output to a soundboard hdmi ?

just bought gold 100 half price as new model coming out £960 with five year warranty and that piano ebony is to die for , replaced my kef ls50 meta with these and wow the difference , using roksan attessa streaming amp with everolo dmp-a6 and svs 3000 micro .......

Quality went down hill. Bad decisions. That's why there not around now. Company when bust.

I've recently got a Cyrus 8 Integrated amp. To get me into the line I'm amazed by the sound. I'm going to pull the pull one day on newer products. Their new stuff had amazing reviews.

Do either of them have balance output for external DAC?

How would one play songs from Bandcamp mobile app, using the WiiM Pro Plus software with EQ? The idea of the WiiM EQ working to improve the sound from integrated amps nowadays is nice, but I have the impression that no matter what product I try, I won't get what I want unless I use my desktop computer into my amp. I currently have the this problem with Bluesound using my mobile phone and it seems no product out there solves the problem simply.

I'm about to buy the SS6. Do they come with the screw to screw into the underside of the speaker. I also have the Monitor Audio Gold 100s based off of your reviews. So the SS6 are for those speakers.

As you mentioned the right speakers are important in choosing an amp, other variables such as vinyl and digital sources and recordings come into it. It would be handy as we cannot listen to how speakers and amp matchings sound on certain records to have a ready reckoner matching chart to help us or recommend which speakers go with which amp.
