  • I now have a year's worth of actual data detailing the cost of living in Phuket for one whole year. I won't tell you lies about this being the cheapest place on Earth, I will tell you the real truth with facts and figures to back it up. Thank you for sharing! Glad you're enjoying your time in p
Phuket. I know it'd cost an order of magnitude more to have this lifestyle in NZ or AU.
    Good luck and keep posting!
    Cheers!

Wow! That’s a lot of money. Most households don’t spend that much in the US.😮

You got a crazy deal on that house. I've looked on fazwaz and can't find anything nearly that cheap. What international school did your daughter attend?

The same house is for rent at the moment for 85,000 baht per month 😳 My Daughter attended Lighthouse International School in Rawai. It's average to be honest.

Oh and also I think the best place to look for rentals is Facebook Marketplace. I found FazWaz quite frustrating as a lot of the listings were out of date.

Thanks for your comment. Yes it is a larger amount than most people would expect I think. We live a good life, but not super flamboyant.

Crazy, I live in Florida and am retired. My wife and myself live on much less, much less.

Rent is our biggest cost, do you rent or own your property? We are also still supporting a 16 year old child 😉

So 77k for your entire family of 4. Would you estimate a single person could live well for say 30k?

Phuket is the Miami of Thailand. If you wanted cheap Phuket you missed out years ago it was.

Absolute nonsense. I lived on my own in Ao Yon Phuket for 2 yrs with living expenses Usd500 a month which included 30 beers a week, local grub, meds, motorbike rental.i owned my own place so just add rent😅

    • @luluandjay_escapetothailand

Yes entirely possible to live on less. But it's actually not absolute nonsense... this is our actual life! I have friends that live in Ao Yon and their budget is a third of ours. But I am happy where I am.

What a joke 60000 baht a month on rent it’s like burning your money with your budget yes you can spend any budget, but wow, yours is excessive to the full

    • @luluandjay_escapetothailand

Do you live in Phuket? If I was single person looking for a one bedroom unit without a pool then sure this budget may seem excessive. But let me assure you that if you need three bedrooms and desire things like a pool and you want to live in an area such as Rawai or Bang Tao then 60K baht for rent is actually cheap for what is available right now. I have friends looking right now and it is impossible to find anything decent in Rawai for less than 60K. I'm not exactly sure if you are comparing my budget with one that is also for three people? Love to hear about your budget if your situation is similar.
