- George R R Martin is asked about he and his characters being parodied in general, and himself by South Park specifically. Recorded on Feb 28, 2015, during a Q&A session at the Nacogdoches Film Festival.
I've seen countless GRRM interviews where he's asked about his 'A Song of Ice and Fire' books, or the 'Game of Thrones' show on HBO, as well as his many other works and shows he's worked on. The question posed here was about how he feels about he and his characters being parodied on SNL and South Park, which I thought it was a unique enough exchange that it was worth sharing. Enjoy GRRM, being GRRM.
I wasn't recording with CZcams in mind. As a result, it was recorded vertically rather than horizontally.
I was in attendance as a guest, I do not own the material presented, thus this video is presented ad-free.

George RR Martin has taken being on South Park better than any other celebrity, and its awesome.
Kanye west took it really well,he actually joked about it in his songs

Plus Russel crow and Richard Dawkins seemed to take it all in good stride as well as a few others I can't remember currently.

Same here, same for my girlfriend and she isn't even a huge South Park fan (and conversely is a much bigger GoT fan than I am). Actually, she starts singing it more than I do...(probably because she's obsessed with wieners).
Good on him. Roll with the jokes. Trey and Matt hardly ever are mean spirited with their jokes unless the person is deserving

Well considering the SP episode was in 2014 and this interview was in 2015 he probably got asked about it about 1000 times before this q&a. There's only so many ways u can answer the same question before u memorize ur best answer lol.

This isn't the only time he's addressed this or provided an hilarious response to it, so I'd suggest people go check out the other interviews as well. Sometimes he calls them "weenies," which is even funnier. (My personal favourite was when he said there was nothing wrong with weenies but that he was definitely on the booby side of that equation.)
