At the end of his speech, he's telling the crowd that when he finishes speaking and at the end of his waiata, not to clap. He explains that clapping was not someting our ancestors did. The crowd either didn't understand or were so amazed by his skill they just couldn't help it lol. Moe mai e koro.

As a young lass I would often sit in and listen to the kaumatua speak on my marae - a passion. I remember this man very impressive as a speaker and elegant/light on feet/quick/ fierce as a performer too. Thank you xo ... aww kia ora mr. Anzac Pikia

I remember he came to Mokoia Intermediate 77-78. Gave us a display of skills with the tewhatewha. The whole skool was gobsmacked. So we all wanted to learn tikanga, mau rakau, karakia, whaikorero. Awesome Rangatira! To this day i still go thru my karakia, & teachings. The Mantis hahaaa moe mai ra Matua

I feel like those are some ancient words he is speaking in his whaikorero. The man.

That is some mean skill and discipline. Mad foot work at 6:17 especially at 6:21, you here the people wow at it and you hardly see where his right foot goes. Ano he tipua te tupuna nei i ona mahi hapai tewhatewha.

Awww te rangi I tona korero te ataahua hoki, it's very rare to hear the tune of a korero of this calibre, this is before they even sang, the old chanting, my grandmother spoke like this like she was singing when she would karakia.

    Te Irirangi:
    "Ka mutu ana taku korero
    Ka mutu ana taku waiata
Kia tau ki te ahuatanga o te M āori,
    Kaua e pakipaki mai!"
    Crowd: 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏽
    Te Irirangi: 🤦🏾‍♂️
