I'm just amazed that someone who plays at the highest level is just here on youtube chilling and watching stuff with us. It's so surreal to hear "oh it's us."
The God's are human.
He's like a Volleyball playing Bob Ross, he's so chill
Ah, that is a great comparison! His voice is mad soothing.
When you have tens of thousands of hours into a sport, you arent as surprised with amazing plays anymore
on the court he's pure energy tho
didn't expect this man can talk in a such soothing and relaxing tone
ikr omg xD
Facts
So damn soothing. Wtf 😳
"Thats something you gotta watch for from brazil"
ah yes if i have the chance i will certainly remember it
Lol
Yeah noted for my next game against them
someone once tried to convince me that libero was the easiest position. i switched spots with him for a day, i’m a libero, and he stopped talking
yesssssss!
I have to say the easiest position is decoy
@@coachoikawa4951
is that an official position? regardless though, there is no “easiest” position, to be a decoy you have to be a convincing threat to the other team which means you have to be able to make points and have the stamina to keep up the appearance that you’re going in for the point even when you aren’t
@@boshlovely2002, Of course, a decoy is an official position, like defence specialist it is only shown in-game, but the setter, middle blocker, opposite/outside hitter and libero are shown on a starting lineup.
Keeping stamina to be a decoy is easy, most of the time it's just an approach and a fatigued jump, never really putting your all into it.
If the decoy isn't an acceptable answer, then I'll say the hitters are the easiest positions, the setter can either bring the ball to you or you can be good enough to hit a bad ball, most of the time the setter is good and can bring you the ball (i said most of the time), the setter is the hardest position, the have to send a ball to a hitter overhand, and to a lot of people overhand isn't easy, but not only is it overhand, you need your hands to be in a certain position to get the right speed and as little spin as possible, for blockers, you have to analyze and not fall for any decoys, you have to use the 3 types of blocking which I don't know the names of but its where you keep your hands straight, you turn your wrists down, or you put your hands flat, but these methods only work on the type of hit, for a straight or a cut, you would keep your hands vertical, for a dink or feint, you would put your hands flat, for a spike you would turn your wrists down. The libero is also extremely difficult, you need to be fast and have fast reactions, depending on the type of hit you also need methods on receiving them, there are too many so I'll say a few, overhand, underhand, pancake, one arm, and many more.
But as a hitter, you need to find the ball, jump and hit.
I'm not saying the position is easy, I'm just saying its the easiest.
@@boshlovely2002 OOF
"Some one ought to go for that." "Somebody should have covered that" the quintessential libero.
"We call it the Marouf" 👌🏻😅
You always talk about "wow he's only a couple inches taller than me thats crazy", i was anticipating something like 5'9 or 5'10
You're 6'1???
I’m 6’. So he’s 6’1 about but that’s insane for an opposite.
Yeah, 6'0 is not very tall at the international level. Look how small 6'5 Taylor Sander looks on the court. Most of the middles and opposite are MASSIVE men! Like 6'10 or taller! It's nuts! LOL
My God I'm rattled. Love watching Erik Shojo, I thought he was 5'10 or something 😂
When I found out Erik was 6ft and Jenia Grebennikov is 6'2'' (who are both liberos), I realized how short I was at 5'11'' as an outside.........
@@kellytehuna Lucas satkamp is 6"8. N Wallace is 6'6 nd he is an outside hitter
I love how you give us the behind the scenes, how Ishikawa practices fake hit set, and how you guys tried setting a hitter on first contact (failing a bunch) to get it work. It communicates hard work and practice vs "talent".
I love his reactions. 🤣 “I don’t know if that was a smart play...”
I see the title and thought: oh no one more clickbait
Than I saw the name of the channel and recognized Shoji from USA national team and: WHY HE HAS A CHANNEL?
Wow. I remember watching Erik playing around with his brother when they were about 5 years old in Klum gym while my friends and I were playing; they were already super good players as little kids. Super awesome to see how great of a player he's become.
thank you! wow klum gym! that’s crazy!
5:39 Bruno channeling his inner Atsumu Miya
The amazing thing about Lucas is that no matter what the first ball is, he's always up there, available for the setter. He is amazing athletically.
I love the deep inhales when Erik is watching. It's almost like he's in the game that he's watching every time!
Ishikawa and nishida play was definitely my top favorite play of the year! Literally crazy!!!!!!!
So insane!
a lot of these were presence-of-mind plays but i still enjoyed the reaction we need more haha
Thank you for watching! More videos to come!
OMG, I just found out your channel by chance, and I'm really excited to see you ^^
Thank you! More videos to come!
It's so cool to see videos like this. You get a perspective on professional volleyball that is so humanizing. The talk of other players and their habits is so casual and cool to see the perspective of a professional player off the court and who they actually are.
the guy from Japan. pound for pound might be one of the best hitters lol
Thank you Erik for doing this, is very smart, you know all the players
I love how your competitiveness shows you get when you see the highlights of Brazil or Japan! I can definitely relate I used to be a libero lol the hype is always real.
"Oh its us" and "it finally work!" One of the highlights of this video. Supporting team USA 🇺🇸 from PH 🇵🇭! and you're my inspiration that's why my position in volleyball is libero! 🙌🏼. More volleyball content E.Shoji! 🔥
yo thanks for making this video it’s super cool to see your perspective on the high level game and other teams
I love the insider info you provide about eh players like naming one play after a player, also I love how you don't overreact to plays that aren't as surprising or considered smart (no direspect to all the great players in the vid tho, they are all amazing) so your reactions are more genuine
I’ve seen this original video, but for some reason your commentary and insight made this video 13 times better, thanks man!
Eric,
I appreciate how you LOOKED BACK at the bench knowing Speraw would give that incredulous look of "really? Now? Well, at least it worked."
LOL
Your insights on the players, teams and the plays are really entertaining.
Erik SHOJI ugh my high school vb heart is bursting. You are such an icon ily
I always watch your videos whenever I’m stressed from studying. Your voice is so relaxing! Please continue making videos ♥️
I love your reactions when you watch the brazilians playing hahaha. It feels like you've had some memorable moments playing against them. Keep up the good work. 2021 I'll be going to watch the VNL game from Brazil mainly because it's in my city
Thanks !!! I found this vlog of yourss......I always inspire to play volleyball😊😊
Hi Erik..
I'm a big fan of yours because I'm a volleyball player and a libero also. Every time I watched your games my focus is on you because like you said I wanna learn how you position yourself, how you move inside the court. My most favorite part of you was when you hit the ball while moving backwards towards the service area and you get the point. Your reaction was priceless and I was like "Erik Shoji is crazy! I love him more!"
💙💙💙😂😂😂
New subbie here 😉
I love the sport! And I love how a pro like you is doing reviews. This is legit stuff. Love team USA AND JAPAN!
Im very glad you did a reaction on this🏐❤️Greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭
so glad i found this channel !!!!!!!! about to watch all your videos
HUGE FAN!!!! You're definitely top 3 Libero of the world, I love how energetic you are when u play
Simply amazing! 😍🏐💪🏻
Your videos popped up in my recommended list (probably because I watch haikyu and have been lately trying to be more athletic) honestly it has been so enjoyable seeing your reactions and analysis of these various volleyball complications. Really helping me learn and take notes on the sport, thank you.
thanks so much for watching and im glad youre able to learn some!
Finally, this vlog of yours will enable me to know your personality more, ❤️best libero in the world
Awesome! Thanks for the insight Erik
thanks for watching! more videos to come!
Thank you so much for the content! It's unreal how you're taking the time to upload videos for us to see while you're in the middle of your pro season! It would be insane if you uploaded a reaction to your guys 2014 world league championship win against Brazil. While you're reacting you could also compare how the squad has changed in the past 6 years. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching!!
It’s great to see videos about technique but I love to see videos talking about IQ!

Omyghaaaad! It's good to see your idol volleyball player analizing gameplays. My #1 libero! ❤️ Philippines

It's interesting to hear a professional's comments on professional games. I am intrigued!
Yay! I’m glad you’re intrigued! 😀
Finally, the channel I’ve been waiting for.
Yay!
Hey you the one who is being called the fastest volleyball player
I am so happy that u have an yt channel ✌️😃
Hi Eric, I have been your fan since 2015. It's great that you have your YT channel now. Am looking forward to seeing more videos in the future, aside from reaction vids. You can add your game takeaways and personal experiences. But keep up the good work and continue being the best in the court. I'm your 1000th subscriber btw. haha
Thank you so much for the support and for watching! And Thanks for 1000!! I will be adding more technical points into my videos so stay tuned (my next video is all about passing). Thanks again so much!
Please keep these videos coming!!
I was just watching random volleyball videos and suddenly this video is recommended like OMG I DIDN'T KNOW SHOJI HAD A CHANNEL and I also really liked the video I instantly subscribed
Thank you so much for watching!
Honestly why are you so damn chill and a pro at the same time ???? Why didn’t I know of you earlier lmao.
thank you!
Love your videos so much! Sorry to hear about your game. Hope you can take some lessons from it into the next one and get the W! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tips with us. I love hearing your observations and you seem like such a nice person 😊
Awww Thank you so much and watching! Don’t forget to tell all your vb friends and teammates 😉. I appreciate your support!
It was a tough loss but we will learn and hopefully improve! 😀
You should do a random Q&A. For one, I’d like to know who your crush is among volleyball players. :)
I’ve been thinking about doing a Q&A! We will see! Thanks for watching!
This reaction video is awesome so are the libero like Yamamoto . Amazing digs. I've seen you play in Fukuoka Japan. the USA VS POLAND game in World Cup was superb. will wait for more exciting reaction videos. a fan from Japan 🇯🇵
Imagine playing with so many international players... what a dream
Спасибо, Эрик. Ты показал нам отличный волейбол!
The play at 7:57 , that’s a smart yet difficult hit. I remember seeing Kanani Danielson make that hit from the outside and place it in the back corner during her senior year playing for the Rainbow Wahine. Impressive amount of control, power, and finesse, to perfectly place that hit
New to this channel..loved your reaction btw..seems so down to earth..wish you happiness.. take care buddy.
Thank you and Thanks for watching! 😀
OMG you have YT channel, you are my idol and some of your other team like Anderson and Christenson. Hope to see you guys playing again in one field.
Eric Shoji!! Great Libero!! Your fan from Malaysia here! 🔥
Thank you! 😀
you are the best libero seriously ♡ love from brazil
No entiendo nada de inglés. Pero igual me veré todos tus videos. ¡Eres un crack Shoji! Uno de los mejores líberos del mundo. Saludos desde Bolivia.
Subscribed, Erik! 😁 Hellooo! You’re one of my volleyball heroes!
Thank you and thank you! 😀
the Best Libero i've seen...😍😍😍
i'm supporting your team since 2014 World League...Luv yah...😘😍
Thank you!
New subscriber!! Eyyyy, love this video.
Yay! Thank you so much!
Hello, libero here, would really like to appreciate my thanks for being such an inspiration and motivating me to do better. I have spent many hours watching your matches picking up small skills here and there and really just want to thank you for being so amazing
thank you so much!
I love how you acknowledged that front row setters love to just go up and tip it or slam it when it comes over short, as a setter is so satisfying since we never get to hit
I am a super fan of yours! I'm so happy you started a channel!
Thank you so much for your support and for watching!
@@ErikShojivolleyball No, thank you! you inspire me!!!
Casual youtuber by day, professional volleyball player by Wednesday. 😄
Erik, i've been loving and enjoying your videos so far. Keep up the good work, and honestly seeing you passionately talking about volleyball make me happy too, especially when you talk about all the techniques and details about it. I'll be waiting for your next videos, and p.s you could have some little game with your fellow players to talk about volleyball too!
+ oh and you are so close to 1k sub!!
Thank you so much I appreciate you watching and hopefully subscribing! 😀🤣. I just need some of your vb friends and teammates to subscribe! 😀. What kind of game do you mean?
@@ErikShojivolleyball ofcourse i subscribed to your channel!😊 like guessing game? You and your friend give each other clues about one player, and try to guess him. When you get the answer right, you can start talk about the skill of that player that you (and your friend) admire or his incredible techniques on volleyball, something like that, you can add a video of that player to make it more like content video. Sorry if this idea is not into your liking, but i'll wait for more videos of you!
That sounds like a fun idea! I’m actually in russia right now playing professionally so I’m not with any USA teammates 😢
@@ErikShojivolleyball you can keep the idea till you go back home, but you can also play it with your fakel team mates😊😊
But if i could request, i would like to see Micah and Ben Patch play the game together with you, both of them are funny! Lots of love for team USA!😍
I will 100% keep it in mind! Until then thank you for the support and I hope you keep watching and telling your friends 😀☺️
Hi Mr. Shoji!! I’m a really huge fan and I’ve been watching USA and your volleyball highlights alll the time! I’m also from Hawai’i, Ewa Beach! 😊🤙💛
thank you so much!! yay Hawaii love to hear from vb peeps from Hawaii!
WHY DID I DISCOVERED YOUR CHANNEL ONLY NOW? Why??????????? Love it
My libero crush is now vlogging? 😲😲😲 I love watching your digs and saves. 😁
This is what i've been waiting for.
Thanks for watching!
Her Mr. Shoji, you're a great player and this was a very cool video. Thank you.
Oh my god! You're an iconic! Great libero! With great connectionwith the setters! Wow! You're now a youtuber/Dad/Athlete! Love you so much! 😀😊
Not a dad. That’s my brother haha
@@ErikShojivolleyball Oh sorry! Love lots😊 More videos to come! So excited.
lovely find!
I like the way you shout on the court
The Japan vs Italy play at 2:32 is beautifully executed volleyball.
Things to note:
1. Strong serve from Japan for pressure
2. Great reception and high OPP attack down line from Italy
3. Incredible dig from Japan
4. Smart off speed shot to 3 from Italy
5. ANOTHER incredible up from Japan, played low, but...
6. Bump set from Japan to OH and played into the block to gain another in system swing opportunity
7. First contact off the block played high, but Ishikawa sets it
8. Nishida gets a no blocker swing opportunity and absolutely blasts it home for a kill
One of my favorite highlights I've seen in a long time! Chills
recognised you as soon as i saw the thumbnail 😂 auto subbed!
Thank you! 😀
When I get stressed I watch his videos cuz his voice is so calming 😌✌
hi Erik! greetings from a big fan from the Philippines!
Hi!😀
Wowww. Couldn’t stop listening to your voice!!!
Awesome video again thanks, I'm learning so much each time !
I'm 20yo setter, a very small one 170cm 😅 (5'7), and I've been playing volleyball for a year now.
I've been practicing every day so that I could be a better player for my team mates and catch up to them.
And I was wondering, would you recommend running as part of conditioning for stamina etc ?
Thanks a lot, and looking forward to watch your next games !
Thank you for watching I hope you can get all your vb friends and teammates to watch!
Keep working and getting better! I do suggest running but more sprints and agility for conditioning!
I lovee youuuuu! Lodi!
