I think this was a really good choice of a video to analyze. The clash between a team with a very aggressive offense(Brazil) and a strongly coordinated team led to an iron defense (Japan) also shows just how good the teams balanced with each other, but Brazil is just a really good team. Hope to see more videos like these :)

I think it might be because being tall in this sport is such an increadible advantage. that means if you are shorter you need to be 10 times better. Brazil is pretty tall and therefore there will be a lot of people who think they dont "deserve" the cred to win against a short team like Japan. Japan plays better they are just short thats all. It makes the sport a bit unfair but a sport is a sport and as you say all Athletes have deserved a spot in the team. They are all amazing. Japan is just a bit more exiting to watch

@@ErikShojivolleyball As a Brazilian, I can say that the "soccer addiction", even though is real, that is just the tip of the iceberg. A lot of brazilians are sports aficionados that dedicate themselves to different sports, volleyball being one of them. And when you have that generation after generation you basically keep getting "fresh batches" of potential good players. On top of that, I believe we also have good trainers to help these athletes grow and mature into what you see in videos like this.
It isn't really a "one factor" thing, but rather, there is a set of facts that help foster players, trainers and overall teams like this. What Erik says about "part of the culture" is totally correct, though it is also the oversimplification of what happens.
Disclaimer: I am a volleyball fan, not an expert, so I don't hold professional value on my opinions, so take them with a grain of salt.

for real. Its crazy to think these players probably incorporated such stuff into their play since their middle or highschool days already. Japanese players are really technical.

This match is probably the match that made me love the sport, idk how many times I've rewatch it..to my new volleyball eyes,Leal is so freaking cool,I've always been blocked, but seeing Leal blasting at the block and sending the ball flying like 50feet in the air is just the coolest thing ever, it's like saying “you can try to block me but I will just blast through"

When I started playing tennis, one of the first things the coach tried to teach me was split stepping. It’s a necessity.
In volleyball, specially at higher levels where the ball might be coming at 100+ kms, I would believe it’s also a necessity.
But I don’t know if everyone learns how ti do it at the high school level
