  • Yujacha is a simple Korean tea made from the yuja fruit. It’s fresh, sweet, tangy, and has a strong and unique citron flavor and aroma. It’s perfect for warming you up in the wintertime, and is full of vitamin C. If you have a cold, it will always make you feel better.

I lived in Korea for 10 years and enjoyed the tea of this fruit.
Today, I live in Texas near Houston and I have a Meyers Lemon tree. I make tea with my meyers lemon and can hardly distinguish the difference . For sure I found that all Korean fruits and veggies are of top quality and super taste.

Taeddy bear It is sweet and tangy. I'm not sure of the taste with real Citron fruit, but with lemon it gets bitter because of the peel. My husband loves to drink and even eats the preserved peel. It's a little too bitter for my taste, but I can steep it in hot water and drink as a tea. 😊

Liss Aldana It’s ‘yuja’ in Korean, ‘yuzu’ in Japanese (that’s what it’s called in English). It’s got more skin and pith than juice. It’s not eaten like a usual citrus fruit. It’s skin is the main thing. It’s made into a dry powder or wet paste with salt, this sometimes also with chili pepper added (in that latter case it’s called ‘kosho’.) It can be made into marmalade, used to flavor all sorts of savory or sweet things. Or as in this case, cut up and sugared to be made into hot drink that Koreans call citron tea. You can even slice the fruit and float it in your bath.
It’s special because it’s fragrant in a unique way. It’s more softly floral rather than sharp and acidic, and not as sweet and orangey as a Meyer lemon.
They’re almost impossible to find and even when you can, each individual fruit can cost several dollars. But the trees thrive almost too well in California. I don’t know about anywhere else. My one tree produces more fruit than I know what do do with.

Some Costco stores in America sell "Honey Citron Tea". Though I know that it could never compare, it gives a nice idea of how the real thing tastes. We drink it hot and cold, but because of the thickness of the mix we also use it like jam on toast. Sooooooo good.

I tried this recipe with regular lemon and meyer lemon. The meyer lemon version is very similar to yuzucha. I prefer the regular lemon version for its acidity. I think a mix of both would be good too. Now it's the season of meyer lemon, it's a good time to give this a try.

I just bought some of the commercial jarred stuff from the Korean grocery store and OMG, I cannot stop drinking it! I've been having at least two cups a day. I just bought the smaller jar to try it and I wish I'd bought the bigger jar. I'm dreaming of all the delicious possibilities for this magic mixture once the weather warms up...mixed with sparkling water, in lieu of sugar/simple syrup in mojitos...mmm. Right now the hot stuff is very soothing for my slightly under-the-weather throat. If the commercial stuff is this good, I can only imagine how good the real thing is!
For those wondering about the flavour...it's definitely unique, kind of floral and fragrant, but the best description I think would be kind of a cross between grapefruit, mandarin, and lemon. Slightly bitter, sweet, and a bit sour. But all-around DELICIOUS.

Check out my English Captions everybody! I will let you know when I finish the Korean ones.
BTW, if you like to translate the caption into your language, CZcams added a good system that makes it easy to do.
    1) To start: Click the settings icon (it looks like a round gear) at the bottom right of the video.
    2) Then choose "subtitles/CC", then choose "add subtitles/CC." You'll get a choice to choose the language you can translate.
    3) Then you'll see my english caption, with a space to translate each line!
I'm interested in any language, but especially Spanish, Chinese, and English. I can do English and Korean!

+Maangchi I wanted to ask is something wrong with Korea's water cause a lot of korean shows i have watched i've seen people use like a water filtration machine i believe that's what's it called or they drink bottled water but never tap water from the sink faucet but they rinse stuff off and bathe with tap water but don't use it for drinking or cooking is there a reason for that?

I got the last packet of lemons and half a lemon was 1/2 cup and it was enough to drink 2 cups of tea. I tried it with a bit less sugar but it was still too sweet but the general taste is really nice and refreshing. Thanks for sharing this crazy fast recipe! :)
