Nah. The spicy chicken sandwiches were an EVERY DAY MUST. Easily the GOAT school meal.
BRO my fucking school only the spicy ones like once in a blue moon but you know damn well we got em we had a fucking FEAST
YES! That was the only good food at my school 😂😂😂
man the spicy chicken at my school was like wet cardboard 😩
@@jadont7818 It was a game of chance for me lmfao either you get the greatest, crispiest chicken sandwich you'll ever have, or you get a soggy wet piece of paper lol
Spicy chicken sandwhiches, curly fries, and the calzones were the play.
Edit: that was my middle school. My high school is goat. We have a salad bar like woodies. Pasta, paninis, nachos, pizza there was a ton more and it was everyday. It was great.
When Woody talks about "healthier lunches" he is truly speaking from a place of ignorance. "Haha these crazy republicans getting mad at that?" No Woody, it was us who were actually still in high school when it happened and all they did was cut our portions. I had to start buying food from another place every day because I could not get enough to feel full at school and could not stay focused because of it.
@Growtopia Mods California vs other states, where im from we had portions cut, lower quality food and a bigger push to milk and bread
@Growtopia Mods Sorry I came from a school that tested higher than average, which are the ones who get the least funding. And calling someone stupid for having a completely different experience than you while being in a completely different place. Ironic that's what you wanna call somebody.
Fr, I was in 8th grade when they forced our middle school and high school to serve 100% whole-wheat and 0% sugar in everything they serve to kids. Forced them to buy more expensive worse quality ingredients and serve smaller portions as wel
Literally the day they removed the calzone and good quality drinks out of the middle school was the last time I ever got lunch at school lol.
@@calebb231 fax
My strongest memory of school cafeteria is the lunch lady calling me a beaner
Im Mexican
She was also Mexican....
That shit is comedy
Lmfao XD uncle ruckus from Mexico
Colorism is real among Mexicans man, its fucked up lol. Were all the same people but not everyone seems to think so.
Lmao
@@rayluna2316 say that to all the irish floating around mexico haha
Woody, the school lunches didnt get healthier they just got smaller
Exactly.
They completely ruined my middle schools and high schools lunch, we used to be able
To get real drinks at lunch like lemonade or power aid plus our schools we’re making calzones once a week but after Michelle Obama forced schools to only use whole-wheat bread everything they serve at lunch at both schools absolutely sucks. Absolutely awful and they had to stop selling the sodas and drinks that have a lot of sugar in them. Michelle Obama ruined 2014-2020 school lunches
In my school you could get anything you could afford in your school lunch account, but all the options were shit tier foods like dry ass chicken patty sandwiches and baked lays and shit, before Michelle we literally got chikfila delivered to our school
Yeah around the same time they took away a vending machine and snack bar.
People were pissed and they eventually reopened the snack bar but it was trying to push more "healthy" snacks.
@@orcabattista8919 Michelle took away out nice white bread rolls, which were one of the only good things about lunch
The Obama launches had significantly less food, not even enough to feed a small kid.
Also fake food and not proper ratio of types of food. Too little protein, way too much grain
Not enough to feed a fat kid. It was plenty for me. A chicken sandwich with fruit and vegetables is plenty for a small child. You don't need three burgers.
I was in high school when Michelle set all those "healthy lunch" guidelines, they took an already crappy and undersized meal and somehow managed to make it smaller and disgusting. I've seen pictures of jail trays of food, they look so much better than school food..and they get that for free..makes sense
Speaking as someone who was also there. And had has actually eaten jail meals.
Shut the fuck up yea whiney brat. No, their fuckin not.
@@jacobevans489 You could at least buy overpriced commissary they took away the snack bar and vending machines. And you would be surprised at the shit tier food we were given. The portions were way too small for most kids.
Yeah same. the school took away the vending machines around the same time and got rid of strawberry milk lmao. As far as I know they still don't offer water other than at the drinking fountain.
@@noahpaulette1490 his name is Jacob Evan's lol,hes never been to jail
@@noahpaulette1490 but exactly, like the portions and quality at schools are garbage and they wont even allow snack machines as you said. All my school had was water vending machines..2 dollars a bottle
Michelle Obama didn’t make lunches healthier, she made them shitty and less calories and kids ended up not eating lunch at all during high school or just chips and cookies. Kyle had a great point there’s no such thing as a free lunch
I got my lunches for free and I still didn't even eat the food there most days.
School lunches were definitely NOT healthier after michelle obama
Same shit just smaller and somehow more tasteless
This. Even if they did get healthier, the quality went down and portions were smaller. The end result was that kids just didn’t eat it, which is worse than what we had in the first place.
@Growtopia Mods Not looking to get in an argument but I disagree. At least in my school system, I noticed a decline in quality when the reforms were enacted under Obama and improvements when Trump repealed them. Entrees changed and got worse and smaller in my experience to the point I would have to pay extra to get double portions. Poorer kids relying on free lunches can't do that.
@Growtopia Mods in my school when that became a thing all that happened was the food got worse and we got less besides the salad bar once a month but mozzarella sticks and fries became an actual meal after that was a thing and everything else got even worse
Not at all
"republicans hate healthy school lunches" lmfao he's so serious too
My high school had something called "Warrior bread" which was a hunk of greasy cheesey bread. I can't believe they served them lmao
This sounds fake and I know it’s real I’m sorry
My high school had something similar. It was like half of a 6” roll with the greasiest cheese on top.
Garlic bread with little bits of pepperoni
Michelle Obama's school shit was terrible. We weren't allowed to have vending machines and the food got worse tasting even it it was slightly healthier. They started doing yogurt with a bunch of fruit and other shit and that was good but not nearly enough actual food.
7:37 honestly kyle is spitting straight facts
I should of been euthanized
Michelle Obama killed our cafeteria in school, everything got simplified and tasteless. Eating out became the norm until my senior year in which The loss of revenue from the cafeteria made them ban off campus lunch for a while. It didn’t end well overall.
Michelle Obama only made it so that the school had to pick healthy options, it’s the schools fault for choosing to go for the cheapest healthy options they could
In elementary school it was all about the cheese stuffed breadsticks. I would save my home lunch snacks all week until cheesy breadstick day and trade people. In high school we had a choice of everything, pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches, tacos, etc.
High school lunches are undefeated lmao. My school is similar, we have a salad bar, paninis and pasta on top of all the other stuff.
@@jagerfromgsg945 maybe Im spoiled on pizza being from NY, but even the best school pizza was terrible to me
Woody didn’t know what a country fried steak is? Jesus, does he know what sweet tea is? LOL
It's not common outside of poor states
Well someone should open a restaurant in a rich state and make a killing. Gez. That's crazy to me 😂
Woody is an absolute Yank. "Country friend steak" and "sweet tea" shouldn't come out of his mouth, anyway
Before school got shut down, my coworkers were sitting around talking about the pandemic and a guy literally said, “This is ridiculous, who is going to feed my kids, huh?”
Meanwhile he drives camaro.
We had snack bags at my school for "Underserved children" all the kids that got them had new IPhones and nice new shoes like Jordan's and Nike shit.
Should've called his bum ass out. Lol
Sure lol
my school used to serve churros that nobody wanted so i would have like 5 or 6 churros by the end of the lunch period
My school had them. They were actually decent churros.
I miss the days when I would go in and steal TruMoo chocolate milk and the freeze pops.
Was in High school 2012-2016 so i def was under the Michelle Obama lunches, they got significantly worse from middle school to high school with the implementation of her rules. Also her rules allowed things like pizza to be considered a vegetable because of the tomato sauce, so the buzz words may have been “healthier lunches” but i don’t know anyone who was in school at the time or a parent of a child who was in school at the time who supported that shit. Maybe outside school it was a red blue thing but it was pretty universally hated by those affected.
My friend Josh qualified for free lunch and would get like 3-4 trays full of chicken nuggets so he could sell them.
At my school if you got free lunch you only got one tray of the small portion shit food. We had a snack bar but it was overpriced af and they got rid of it for a minute but people were pissed and they eventually reopened with some "healthy" options along with most of the old stuff.
That is not how that system is supposed to work, lmao. Most districts limit it to one meal a day, no extras.
@@xanthopoulos1825 that's because he's telling a fib
I remember this one kid who never ate his food, he'd just stare at it and if you asked him if you could have what he didn't want, he'd blow you off in the most rude way possible. He threw away every lunch he had for 180 days
6:08 Speaking from experience the lunches were not "healthier" they were just even more fucking inedible.
Woodys rich school with a bomb salad bar
You could totally steal from regular cafeterias
My high school was a charter school that had some sort of arrangement where basically every day was a different fast food
Sounds like y'all got to get big lol.
Michelle just changed the portion sizes and the amount of salt in food. The food was stilly shitty. Schools just need a damn garden that a science or ag class would take care of
Born in '92, went to two private schools my whole life. Preschool-8th, then high school for two years until I dropped out and did the GED. First school we didn't have food. You brought your own lunch, and you bought milk. You'd bring it in a lunchbox, Pre-5 had stalls in the hallway outside their rooms and they ate in homeroom. 6-8 was a transition period to get kids ready for high school, so you got lockers. You got your books, got your lunch out of your locker and the day's second half of books and went to homeroom, no trips between periods allowed for no particular reason.
High school we finally got normal lunch like the public school kids, but we still had to pay daily. Now, I DESPISE food. Like I hate literally 99% of the edible material on planet Earth for human beings. But my school was actually alright. You usually had two options each day, pizza was the usual constant, a side of French fries (occasionally tater tots) and a large soda for $5. Chicken tenders were alright, must be from the same place as a restaurant in town because they're the same, weird but still good in a nostalgic way. Like a dry pizza pocket consistency with a punch of salty flesh. Nuggets (medallions more like) were straight up fire, only rivaled by the Personal Pizza which was my order 90% of the time. 2 pizza slices every few weeks were done by a local family place, they were alright. Then I remember a really rare spaghetti dish and one or twice a month taco that no on was every thrilled about neither of with I ate. Maybe burgers or something but I don't eat them so I wouldn't even remember if they had them.
Usually smuggled food from home to eat at school, then pocket the $15-25 bucks a week I was supposed to be getting food and then parlay it either flipping drugs in school or YuGiOh/Pokemon cards/videos online for marijuana and cigarette money. Fries nearly always went to my bro would I'd chill with before and after school. He'd usually be waiting around after for his mom to get off work, so I'd stay and we'd get baked, figured a daily fry for smoke outs was fair trade.
And as far as stealing goes, things were always locked up except for two things. One, we'd constantly steal their lighters to use. And second, sometime they forgot to turn off the soda machine. So there were a couple times were we absolutely raided that thing. One time someone randomly had 2 litter bottles and he got 3 kids filling up bottles and like 8 kids running all over the school finding more random kids letting them know the machine was a go today. We were just handing out bottles and bottles of soda to kids like it was an Army regiment finding water in the jungle and making a production line.
But the Holy Fucking Motherload happened once while I was there after school one day. Someone found out that the freezer was unlocked, so like 5 kids just started taking whatever they could find and running stuff outside before coming back for more. Boxes and boxes of personal pizzas, French fries, chicken, potato chips, cookies, cheese, sauce.
No. You didn’t experience Michelle Obama ruining it. 2nd grade we had amazing food that was like chicken nuggets and we had grill out days where the principal would cook real hotdogs and burgers. Now we have rotten milk and undercooked food because they got no funding for food and they’re trying to save money. I don’t want to have to pick between spaghetti that’s been burnt into a brick or enchiladas that aren’t thawed out right. Only good lunch is walking tacos because it’s a bag of Doritos with burnt hamburger meat stuffed into it
@Growtopia Mods I’m willing to take the risk on unhealthy food instead of milk that’s chunky and months past due or burgers that have mold on them. I’m in school right now I leave for lunch because my college classes are a town over and I can drive so I go get subway or eat at the college where it’s not lowest bidder food. They took away grill days because it wasn’t healthy enough because it was hot dogs or burgers with ice cream and we all ate outside when the snow melted in April
Chicken fries and football fries were essentially currency in elementary school.
Our school had Chili day. It was amazing. Not because the Chili was bomb, which it was, but because of the home made cheese bread they served. One lunch lady in particular made it ALL at home. It was essentially twoslabs of thick, sweetbread with a solid centimeter thick layer of real cheddar cheese in between them. To this day everyone that went to our school from '78 to '02 talks about that cheese bread and tries to copy it. I know one guy for sure has the real recipe but i cant get him to give it up lol. It's the KFC recipe of our town lol
Breakfast pizza both the cinnamon and sausage ones SMACKED!!! Also thanks giving lunch was always good ❤️
I would always stack as much breakfast pizzas as possible under each other, usually coming out with 3 pizzas. I was in heaven
The dry turkey, packet gravy, and instant mashed potatoes.
The amount of food waste caused by lunch program is downright depressing. They would make everyone take a really low quality fruit/veg that would almost immediately go into the garbage. You couldn’t refuse it either, they MADE you take the tray full of food you weren’t planning on eating.
I had quite a few of those “field trips” where you had to pay for everything that day, including admission and food. During a handful of them my mom called me in sick for the day, then took me to the same place herself. She knew I’d get a lot more out of it being able to do whatever the fuck we wanted instead of following a group. We’d get to see the whole zoo, and I’d talk to classmates and they’d tell me “We only got to see the Africa exhibit and the ocean exhibit because Billy wouldn’t shut his mouth.”
My mother also did this numerous days when no field trip was planned. She’d call me in sick to take me to the zoo or a museum for the day. And honestly I learned a lot more from that than being in class sometimes. I was always a step ahead of everyone else in grade school so those days taught me more than the class could.
Thanks mom.
I am glad that I had teachers that liked me enough and would pay for me just so I can go to. I think it's because I was an awkward kid and they knew I had a single mom so they probably had pity for me.
That’s a great mom.
@@ciel1083 That’s really great. I grew up in small town, USA so I also mostly had very friendly and compassionate teachers. It still surprises me how many teachers there are that seem to either hate their job or the kids they work with. Seems like it’s mostly due to poor pay though.
@@kcroz1104 I’m not gonna lie I can guarantee at least a few of those times we were going because *she* wanted to go to the zoo that day 😂
My mom is great though. She’s always done everything she could for me even when I didn’t see it. Could never thank her enough.
Breakfast assistance were just being implemented when I was in school and these kids got huge frosted donuts and chocolate milk. Kid from a neglectful home getting tanked up on sugar everyday isn't recipe to just sell SSRIs and Insulin later on.
We had snack bags and the kids that got them all had money iPhone jordans /Nike and name brand clothes.
They would get poptarts chips and all kinds of shit.
Man, turkey and gravy and chicken nuggets were great. And, if everyone got served, we'd get seconds. Good times.
Turkey and gravy was the best and spicy chicken sandwich’s were also really good. The chicken nuggets were always soggy for some reason.
2005 went through elementary right through Obama’s plan the meals got worse than before I don’t know if it was just my school but it got worse than before and is still worse than before
Thanks for the shoutout even tho it's not me in the story, thanks Taylor. Lol. - Tim
every once in awhile my school would put a grill outside near the lunchroom and make burgers, always teetering on the edge of well done or over cooked and the line would last until the end of lunch, never worth it
@Growtopia Mods Not every school
8:00 Actually my high school did something like that for poorer kids - I got a daily meal for taking out the recycling after my lunch period and it tasted all the better, never complained once about the food since I knew I earned that shit
I don't remember much about our highschool food but the pizza was popular along with their vending machines until they had a health kick and changed the ingredients for it and got rid of the vending machines.
Lol everyone remembers the day the vending machines had to go or get replaced with garbage 🤡🤡😂😂😂😂
"Healthier lunches" that cause tons of kids to get GERD and constant heartburn/ acid reflux. YEEEEAAAA "healthier" is what it is
Shoutout true moo. I shouldn't have taken regular chocolate milk for granted
My middle school used to get quarter pounders delivered from the mcdonalds across the road every day, they were available at the snack bar. 2000 was a hell of a year.
We used to bring home made snacks to our Kid's entire class on their birthdays. They were good ones, brownies, candies and cupcakes. Michelle took over and the school looked at us like we were trying to poison the kids. No good deed goes unpunished.
In kindergarten only they had plastic bags full of milk instead of the basic cardboard packaging. They had slits for the straws and, of course, kids would miss and pop their milk bags with their straw, spilling it everywhere.
In highschool we had a canteen where we could buy what we wanted, damn they had some good shit
woody eating cavier everyday for lunch not knowing what country fried steak is 🤣
Agree with Kyle . The County fried steak was the best all through my public school
I don’t know about y’all but shrimp poppers were BANGING especially if they were a little over cooked you slap some ketchup/hot sauce on them and they were KING
I was in middle school when they Implemented "Healthy Lunches", it wasn't a Healthy Lunch, it was half of a lunch. I had trouble eating growing up, it sucked.
Them pizza sticks were bussin tbh
Kyles “Jesus Christ” after Taylor explains his triple chip scenario 😂😂
Grade School we had meals they picked. Worst ones were the Turkey Drumstick and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich where the cheese was pretty much melted plastic.
I’m from the UK so I guess it’s probably totally different, but my secondary schools (age 11 to 18 for Americans) had pretty decent food. The first one actually had a sub counter where it was essentially a subway just with better ingredients and my school after that had a different hot meal every day and loads of sandwich and panini options etc. However my primary school when I was a little kid served the most budget food, I think most the of the meat consisted of scrotum and labia.
Senior year I had shop classes 3rd and 4th period and 5th period lunch. We got Papa Johns pizza every friday so I would cut out of shop class early while everyone else had to clean up and was always the first in line.
Yall had double portion options. If I wanted a double portion I’d have to pay for two lunches
There was this kid that was on Ritalin in my class. Shout out to Tim.
I'm late and was addicted to dry ass school cornbread for some reason.
In high school a lot of us would sneak out through the wood shop and go get Wendy’s
Taylor describing how his Ritalin buddy wouldn’t eat and his mom getting mad reminds me of my childhood lol it’s damn hard to eat when your on speed😂
Dorm cafeteria chicken fried steak kept me swole and stuffed. Packs into Tupperware well too
The problem with Michelle Obama’s “healthy school lunch” plan is that it outlined minimal and maximal nutritional requirements (between x and y amount of carbs, less than z calories, at least v portions of vegetables) which in and of itself isn’t bad, but brought about some issues. For one, schools with low budgets often source food from an outside vendor, meaning that school’s lunches are essentially TV dinners. They’re pre-prepped frozen dishes that the cafeteria workers just heat up and serve. When these guidelines were enacted, those manufacturers had to find ways to make TV dinners healthy. Because of the fact that TV dinners are inherently full of preservatives and unhealthy ingredients, this meant that quality of ingredients was cut across the board. White flour switched to the cheapest whole grain possible. Fats were almost entirely eliminated. Sodium levels were cut. Now, as you can imagine, a TV dinner that’s been made worse in order to be “healthy” is going to make kids think that healthy food tastes disgusting. And it did.
This wasn’t as much of a problem in schools that had the budget to create meals from scratch, as even if they had to make some substitutions, those meals would always usurp their frozen counterparts.
My school had a coffee shop inside as well as a line for cafeteria food, grilled, salad, and pizza. Also we had a consenssion stand you can buy cookies and baked goods made home ec kids. We also had a vending machine.
I’ve worked at every level of school. I feel like the food has actually gotten worse than when I was in school because of all the restrictions they have. I ate like a king in school. Now even the Pizza Hut they buy is gluten free.
In Vegas we had 2 choices, papa John’s pizza or whatever crappy school lunch meal they had that day.
In my highschool they had the slow kids clean and the slow kids had a store they sold stuff in. For the school to make money
It was a long really good sausage with chips , now that I think of it I think they had the same supplier as the fish n chip shop down the street .
I had processed food in elementary school when I lived in a big city and it wasn't very good. But in middle school we had a option to get a slice of Pizza Hut pizza or Taco Bell burrito if we didn't want the regular school lunch. In high school I moved to another state in a small town with a lot less students. The food was way better bc it was homemade but was only like 150 kids in my whole high school and in middle school before I moved from had 2,000 students. So I see why the food was homemade bc a lot less people. The small town I lived in didn't have many fast food options so most of the time even when I was senior I stayed and at lunch at the school. I was the only senior that did that lol.
Michelle Obama’s idea “healthy” food was giving us raw uncooked broccoli and zucchini as well as changing our chicken from REAL chicken breast to frozen processed chicken mush sandwich’s.
And don’t even get me started on the vending machines.
Grade school food was awesome in the early 90s. Junior high+ it was trash.
In high school me and my friend stole giant cans of beans for shits and giggles. They left a pallet of them in the cafeteria what did they expect?
It’s all about off campus lunch
Someone taught me sauce is free if you put the sachets under your plate xD
Woody really ask what's a country fried steak 😅
I’m in high school now and it’s so low quality
At my school, we weren't allowed to bring our own lunch. Pre-Obama and all that, they were just greedy as fuck.
just saying, in Japan they dont have janitors. The students clean the schools, save money and put that towards the food.
Lolol I was the kid that shit in the urinal. I would have LOVED to be a kid in Japan and watch other kids clean my shit up xD
@@joshuablair252 oh, then you would have been dealt with. having all the teachers hate you is one thing, but the student body? yeah, that would get corrected quickly
They actually had kids whom cleaned the school to pay for fees and food they were in the cafeteria doing dishes mostly
Grade School Best Lunches.
1: Mini Cheeseburgers
2: Cheese Calzone.
3. Taco Pockets
4: Square Pizza
You had to say you were vegetarian to get the Cheese Calzone on Wednesdays...I was a Vegetarian every Wednesday.
the food thing in schools was already awful before obamy. i made good money selling candy in jr high. id get 50 worth of hard candy and bulk mini candy bars a week and turn it into 150 a week plus paying 2 people in the other 2 homerooms to distribute there. we got caught several months into it. they got iss and i was told good job but dont do it lol.
Shout out to Tim
Had a Chinese day at my high school that was the best but honestly my school wasn’t big so they could making pretty good lunches and you could buy a lot of stuff too
I almost got caught stealing from the cafeteria
The school district I went to was the same food they gave to people in jail around our area, it was ok but not great same as all schools
I liked those burritos with nacho cheese they used to have.
7:40 Apparently Kyle's forgetting that not everybody gets paid and giant lump sums from CZcams and is set for years and years in the future some people have a actual job and can afford to have a giant nest egg saved up and if something happens like they get injured and they can't work or they lose their job for something that's not their fault Kind of like this whole covid situation then their finances are gonna change from where they were at when they had the kid to no fault of their own which is why they have those programs to help people out.... But to be fair some people ARE just idiots and have kids when they can't afford to have kids
If you can't budget $5 a day, 5 days a week, to feed your own child, you need to reevaluate your spending habits or find a new job.
Michelle Obama’s lunches left high school athletes who really needed the calories a portion size of like 6 chicken nuggets, a spoon of corn, and a small salad.
damn you guys got 6? we had 4 and nothing but died drinks
The best meal at the (my school in perticular) german equivilant of high school for me was something that roughly translates to fluffy pancakes and oh lawd that was the best shit i allways got like 3 servings when you normally get 1
Has anyone ever had a Frenchfrie Friday? Ours got takin away for fist fights due to said fries
I use to steal the PB&J's,😂
Ours was Asian chicken, had rice, peas, carrots, was the best shit ever
Same
Chicken and jalapeño sandwich🔥
I used to have French bread pizza it was the best and we had gross apple juice so I got 3 oranges and squeezed them to make orange juice
Yo what the fuck are you guys talking about. We're out here eating over (and somehow simultaineously undercooked?) cooked pasta, raw ass unseasoned fries and american cheese sandwiches.
Japanese schools dont have janitors. The students keep the schools clean and nice.
I just realised Kyles school was a prison
I miss the goddamn pizza quesadillas
Woody’s wrong on this. The problem with school lunches wasn’t that they were healthier, they were shittier. They just shipped the food in pre-packaged food trucks and microwaved them. I never ate them, but it was normally chicken nuggets, pizza dippers, and other shit that wasn’t even healthy. The only healthy part was the fruit the school forced you to take, but most people threw them out. Basically, it was a massive failure
Taylor grew up in a very privileged school
Hot wings was the GOAT in middle school
I ate a lot of that shredded lettuce salad
