Even though they're right but that's besides the point.
Especially if they’re right, for then you know the villain has a good reason to enact that specific plan. Under certain games, the heroes may even co-opt the villains plan for positive purposes (Tales of the Abyss, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 if you don’t count Amalthus)

@@TheLithp It's weird. The Maesters are all considered 'good', but then you have this one guy who the MC/narrator tells you not to like, except that the story presents him as a good guy, until the twist. And his 'twist' is presented as such.
I do agree that the Maesters as a whole are a sign of issues with Spira culture, but that works whether or not Seymour as a villain is a twist or not.
tbh imo Seymour is the weakest part of FFX's plot, as much as I like him. Combining his kind of confusing state as 'twist villain' with the fact that his plotline actually has very little to do with the main plot ('Sin bad, kill Sin' - removing him leaves pretty much all the story beats that aren't directly related to him in tact)... Great battle theme, though, for his last fight.

In case anyone was wondering, this is what Lysandre (the character ProZD is parodying) says the first time you see him in the middle of a conversation with Diantha:
*Lysandre:* "You played a young girl so wonderfully in your debut on the silver screen. Wouldn't you remain young and beautiful forever and always play such roles?"
*Diantha:* "What a strange question... Why would I want to play the same old roles forever? Youth may be beautiful, but it's not all there is to life. Everything changes. I want to live and change like that, too. So I look forward to playing different roles as I get older."
