i was watching you video on how to disable the parking brake on the radio, and i fallow your direction but i didn't work for my so i bought the DIYBypass cables for $10.00 dollars, follow the simple connection instructions and wallllllllllla, didn't work i did waisted my money, so i went back to the board and i try your way again and it WORKS GREAT NOW, in one try now i can see my videos.............Thanks so much 100%

No park brake mod required. Just follow the steps in this video and you should be good. Works on my 7600 NEX that I just updated to firmware 3.0.
Do you know if it works on DMH-1500NEX?

I know this is an old, but will this work with on the DMH-C5500NEX with firmware 8.12? I just baught this headunit and can't seem to get this process to work.
Don't feel bad if you have trouble getting it to work, it just took me over 20 attempts. I found it was easier to switch hands instead of swiping or moving your finger to the other side. Just use a slight delay between lifting your finger up, and pressing down with the other finger.
Nick do you know if you are on firmware 1.13 or 1.30?

@@crowly101 A couple of things I learned the hard way about this radio. You can't set the clock or date manually. It only works automatically with the GPS antenna. But I havnt yet hooked up my GPS, so I don't know for sure if it actually works. Also, the WIRELESS Android Auto only works with certain newer phones.
@@nicksklenicka8926 Yes I know, the GPS does update time on mine. I had a Samsung S10 wireless AA worked flawless, moved to a OnePlus 8 pro and had problems. It seems to be getting better with updates to AA. I am still on the OP8 pro hoping it keeps getting better. Great radio with a few minor annoyances I hope get fixed.
Does this work on my dmh w2700nex? This unit has a GPS antenna but doesn't seem to have a source off option.
This worked for me on the relatively new DMH-WT3800NEX with firmware 1.54. Worked on the first try. I conformed to the 10 seconds on the lower left corner, lifted my finger momentarily to get to the lower right corner and pressed (for something that seemed like it was over 10 seconds) on the lower right before Set On popped up. I DO have the parking brake wire (light green) grounded and had even used a switch on that ground to give it the previously required off-on-off signal, to no effect (well, it would play without the parking brake on, but as soon as you got over a few MPH, the warning message would appear). I assume that the GPS was telling the radio that the car was moving, so I tried disconnecting the GPS antenna, but Pioneer must have programmed the radio to display the warning message if NO GPS signal was input. This 10-second-two-step seems to be working through three straight drives in the car. Glad I found this fix; it was not showing up on most of my "Pioneer parking brake bypass" searches. I actually found it in the comments section on the Best Buy website. Thanks for posting this.

I have the 3800 too. I’ve tried over 30 times but I can’t get this to work.
I keep trying and updated to 1.55 firmware but having the same issue when u get to like 5mph the warning screen comes up

have a Pioneer DMH-WC5700NEX with the newest firmware 3.05 per the Pioneer website and have tried this procedure over 20 times and cannot get it to work or display the "set on" message. Have tried all touch screen areas and used a stopwatch. What an I doing wrong?

Has this changed? When I put my model number in and go to the page it looks the same however there is no download tab. It ends at manual/warranty. I have the DMH-2660NEX

You need to hook the radio to a hotspot on your phone (find the 'easy setup' in the settings) once you do that you go to the settings again under system information and it'll make you scroll and accept it

Hi Dean, can you help me out here…… where does the pink wire get connected to? I have an 08 Corvette with the crux socgm-17c and that does not have a pink wire or VSS wire. Also, what would I do with the green parking break wire?
I have same problem with my 2015 subaru forester XT. It sais the pink Vehicle Speed Sensor wire is supposed to go to the pink wire on the Pioneer harness... but there is no pink wire on the Pioneer harness. Thats the only wire I did not connect to anything so far.
Just a note. On the Avic-w8400nex it’s only 10 seconds on the left corner to set to on. Now to test if the rest of my wiring is correct.
This worked for me, but when I connect my iPhone with an Apple HDMI adapter to the HDMI cable, it just shows static on the screen. Any ideas? Could it be the Micro HDMI to HDMI cable?

I have a DMH-W4660NEX on firmware version 1.31 and this isn't working.
I've done the "set ON" thing successfully but it still complains about the parking brake if I try to start android auto.
FYI my brake wire is connected to nothing.
You may just need to ground the parking brake wire. I have a 2660NEX and that's all I had to do. The process in the video did nothing for me.
Same for me as Mike D. Didn't work initially without the grounding of the wire. I have 4660nex and android auto works now after I grounded it.

I got it to set on . But have not tried the hdmi .

tried this about 79 times with my dmh wt76nex no luck at all. its on current firmware parking brake bypass does not work. my other truck has the same head unit version 1.31 works fine id really like to flash 1.31 to this head unit

Tried this on the DMH-2660NEX and didn't work... Are you sure it works on these? There aren't any firmware updates for this one yet.

There wont be. The cheaper budget friendly options normally do not get updates man. You have to physically install a parkingbreak bypass. You can find them on amazon for about 10$

Why does the title talk about parking brake bypass, but the video is about updating the firmware?
Because he states that the radios that this works with need to be on the latest firmware for this to work. He states that this didn’t work on their original firmware and that the radios need to be updated.
according to this "You don't need the bypass!!" i have not tried it. but i have the DMH-1770 NEX i have a vehicle coming in this weekend. i have a bypass and a momentary switch, if this doesn't work. i will try this first.

I ended up just wiring the unit like normal without any switch. The standard features worked like normal. I heard there was an update you could do, but i ended up not doing it, and it still worked like it was supposed to. Obviously, you can not use features while driving, ( but you can use siri to as for directions,). That was all we really needed, or to place a phone call.
I read that with the update you didn’t need any brake bypass, but i also read many people that tried it caused the radio to go into a blank screen. I didn’t want to chance it, so i just wired it up to the emergency brake switch.

Jay which firmware are you on? I have it working too but am on 1.13 and 1.30 is current I am afraid to upgrade until I know it is working. If you are on 1.3 does the hdmi work? That is what I am using for video
I have this exact radio with the software upgrade. I can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve tried it several dozen times, all using a stopwatch and touching where he is touching. I am using a Maestro Rr and another idatalink product that ties the car to obd2. Any tips or ideas?
I have the same problem, the HDMI option always gives me the screen that says "viewing of video source is prohibited while the car is moving". Were you able to figure it out?

I have this exact model radio and I got "stuck" with the USB in "photo" mode because it was installed in an '01 miata and I don't have a parking brake sensor to wire to the radio. I was going bonkers trying to figure out how to get the USB back into music mode. This is even better.

@@crowly101 It doesnt work lol. I had to put a parking brake bypass in to get it to think the parking brake was on. I havent tried the hdmi though. Just android auto and settings
@@TheJordanLp1 Bummer that was my fear. I have the bypass installed too but because the deck uses GPS and another check the bypass seems useless. This was a all in one. Hopefully someone finds another work around.

The DMH-1770 NEX doesn't have a demo mode so I fail to see how I can do this. Already looked through all settings and no demo mode so unless you can tell me something I don't know, this is misinformation for that radio specifically which you said would work..
My understanding is that when he said to make sure it’s not in demo mode was for the firmware upgrade so that when it reboots, it doesn’t go into demo mode. If yours doesn’t have a demo mode, then you can try the bypass sequence on the screen just like he shows without upgrading the firmware. He did say that some of the radios won’t work correctly without the latest firmware so that’s why he shows how to check firmware and download the latest for your radio and install that latest firmware. But it’s worth a try without updating the firmware imo.

I have this headunit... Honestly my microbypass was working fine but I did this anyway!
I can't get it to recognize my usb. I have tried everything I can think of (yes I have the usb turned on in my input/output settings) but nothing works. Songs saved in FAT32 I've tried 3 different flashdrives. Only thing I know to change is try a Usb 3.0 instead of 2.0... waiting on it to arrive now.
Any suggestions as to what I might be missing if not that?

In the video he shows that you have to press source and then scroll down to get to “screen off”.

I just did it on my DMH-W4660NEX w/v3.0 and it still works. Took me several tries, though. Don't give up...
I have the exact head unit Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX. I left the park brake wired zipped tied and heatshrink at the exposed tip and tucked neatly away not wired to ground.
Did the update - got the notification saying on set. Yet I still can't get Android Auto to work. Help!
Same issue for me. Got the Set On but Android Auto says to park the car.
@@mkozma1 You're going to have to do the manual bypass. I used the green/hand brake wire on the head unit. I cut that wire in half, soldered one half into the black ground of the wiring harness and connected to one of the connectors on a sanwa arcade stick button (im dead srs lol) with the other connector going straight to head unit. Just pressed the button two times and that was it. Never had to worry about anymore.
This bypasses Parking Brake and VSS? Are there similar software bypasses for older models?
Older models typically just route the parking brake wire to ground.

I have the DMH-W4660 w/ 1.31 firmware. The Radio is connected to a Maestro RR (with the VSS wire connected) the parking brake wire was not connected. The timing must be exact in step 1 (10sec) once you move to the right side leave your finger on screen then you will see the “set on” display. It took me more than several tries. Also to reset every attempt just switch to a different source then source off. This will substitute to having to turn on/off your car.

@@SirPierreSe I installed the idatalink maestro and I went green wire from the stereo harness to the green wire on the maestro harness for specific to my vehicle.

according to one of the other posts, its just this, without an actual bypass. i have not tried it yet. i have a DMH-17700NEX and that unit has a delay.

@@FiveStarCarStereoInc I have a 2008 Ford Explorer none premium sound no sync. I put the Pioneer AVIC-W8400NEX with Maestro Idatalink in it and it takes up all the room in the dash. I was thinking about putting the Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX in for the shallow mount of the stereo. Thoughts? I don't us the dvd/cd anyways in my current stereo. You're thoughts on the new Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX?

Something similar worked on my AVH4500NEX.
MENU > SOURCE > OFF.
Hold finger about 1/2" up and in from bottom left corner for 20 secs or so, ( the 1st position in this video).
set on appears. This worked for me June 2021.
