Hey @Oteil I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job. I think you should have someone go to section 203 at the Sphere during sound check. It's an amazing arena but we couldn't hear your bass at all throughout most of the 3 nights we went to on week 3. Your bass is really getting buried in the mix. I know you're hearing it well on stage through the ear monitors but anywhere above the 100s sections it's almost impossible to hear you. When you're playing the high notes it comes through but when getting down and funky in the lower registers it was a bummer not being able to hear you. The overall sound is clear there but it's definitely not loud enough. I usually wear really good earplugs at any shows I go to but they weren't needed at all at the Sphere. That's not a good thing when you're trying to feel the groove and get your dance on. The sound is so low in there that you can easily hear anyone talking within a few rows from where you're sitting. I'm not sure why the bass isn't cutting through but either the person at the soundboard doesn't know what they're doing or no one has gone into the stands and different sections to give a listen to everyone playing with a packed house. I'm urging you to have someone go to the sections during the show and see if they can hear you as cleanly as the other instruments. Personally I wanna hear you the most but I'm a bass hound. I've spoken with alot of people who think the same. The vocals and guitars are definitely the highest in the mix but it's the bass that makes most people dance. At least for me. That was the only bummer out of the 3 night's we went. Well that and the fact that everything needs to be turned up. It's gotta be the lowest volume I've ever heard at a concert. My ears are already shot which is why I use good earplugs but it was no problem talking to anyone during the shows and it was annoying AF to hear people talking throughout the shows.
