Rube Goldberg: The Master of Absurd Machines
Rube Goldberg was a cartoonist who drew absurd machines that performed simple tasks in complicated ways LIVES ON in JEEP engineering
Thank you Sir. Your in our YJ Fanatics Facebook group!! Jeep on brother ✌️
You are welcome! Yep, I am in the group chatting with everyone quite often!! Keep a Jeepin!!
Ah he made it look to easy, I’m fixing to fight mine for 4 hours and end up needing a window after I throw a wrench through mine😂
Thank you Sir. You’re the top Jeep master.
You are welcome! Hope the video helped.
Thanks for the vid man after the lousy week I've had (Mother having surgery and me getting a really nasty case of food poisoning then the flu) its nice to just sit and casually watch you do whatever its going to be...lol your calling should have been a high school auto shop teacher :D
JUST DONE THIS TO MY YJ, TRADED A COMPOUND BOW FOR 2 DOORS... LET THE HIGH SCHOOL FIX THEM CUZ THEY HAD A FEW DENTS AND RUST THEN I BOUGHT ALL NEW TRIM AND HANDLES IN AND OUT, THESE THINGS NEEDED LOTS OF PARTS... ANYWAY THEY CAME OUT GREAT.... GREAT VIDEO... NOW MY WHOLE 91 IS BED LINED AND PAINTED TAN... HAVE A GOOD ONE...
As soon as I find and purchase the parts for these door there will be a rebuild video series on them. I'm happy to have them for winter time. Before it gets to cold I need to get a back window for my hard top that I purchased a few months ago! Thanks for dropping in!! Have a great day!!
Great video. Thank you
love your DIY videos for us YJ owners. Thank you for the education \m/
You are welcome! Glad you like them and hope they help you! Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment!! Have a great day!
You make it look easy, Great step by step explanations. 👍
Thanks 👍 Glad it helps!
Good info
Your videos are so informative! Thank you so much!
Glad you like them! You are welcome.
Wow wing windows. I love and miss those!
They work well! Thanks for dropping in!
A big help, I completely forgot the latch access panel behind the trim panel.
Thank you finally some one that really knows..
Glad it helped!!
I had to brake clean that mechanism completely spray it it and re 3in1 oil it. Works like a champ now.
It didn't help my specific problem on a 2001 TJ, but it did get me in the general area where I could find my lock rod was bent....thanks for the guidance...Van Buren, AR
Sweet! Glad the video helped! Thanks for leaving an awesome comment!! Have a great day!
10/ 24 thats some top secret info right there buddy. I've done this before and you make it look easy. Also I had trouble finding good quality replacement latch handle . 90 yj
Glad you like the video bud!! I added the links in the description area below the video. Thanks for adding a cool comment! Have a great day!!
Fantastic video. I actually did pull the rods out but wow loosening up the tabs to the rod one tab broke. Where can I find a replacement? Or can I just fabricate something? In your video you mentioned to be very careful but I guess I wasn’t.
This has hard rods. My 92 has more like a cable. Are they interchangeable?
93 YJ full doors looking at where the two bars attach (see pic) it does not appear that these allow you to disengage the metal bars to work on reattaching a new indoor handle ? Hmm Can’t attach a pic
Can you do a video replacing the wing window?
I'm eventually going to rebuild those doors and sell them. I'll do that video then. When will that be? I have no idea at the moment.
The half door handles are pretty similar but everything is easier to get to.
The CJ/YJ full doors are sweet though! I love the little vent windows in the front. How did the door line up with the windshield angle? My soft uppers line up perfectly but in order to get my hard uppers to fit properly I have to wedge a wood chip under them to angle them up a bit. Just wondering if factory soft top YJs had a slightly different windshield angle, or was it just my doors out of alignment?
Im really gonna enjoy rebuilding these doors. I'm like you .. the little vent windows are awesome! Love 'em!! Ironically after adjusting the door hinges and adjusting the striker bolt, everything lined up great! The windshield angle fits nice and tight as well.
Not actually getting to look at your uppers, just basing this off your comment, here is what I would try. First look at the door gap around your half doors where the doors align with the tub. If the gap is even all the way around .. door alignment is good. If there are places where the gap is uneven, adjust the door until the gap is even all the way around. Then ... make the windshield angle match the hard uppers, then flex the steel rod soft uppers to match the angle of the windshield. Soft uppers are forgiving by bending or flexing the frame to fit as needed. Of course, this is as long as the adjustments aren't extreme enough to make the skins no longer fit the frame correctly. I have 2 sets of half doors, my full steel doors and then the full soft cloth doors. It would make a great video showing what I just described to you. So .. I'll put that on the "to do" list. I dont have soft uppers for the half doors but I can demonstrate on my full soft doors because they split in two. Always good to see ya dropping in!! Have a great day!
You implied that the clips holding the rods are hard to come by, do you know any place that sells them?
I was told not long ago that some autoparts stores had then in the "Help" section. I plan on going to check that soon. If I find a place online that sells them I'll post a link to them. Good seeing ya drop in! Have a great day!!
What do you use to lubricate the mechanisms in the door?
Lithium grease
Can you remove the rods like that on a TJ???
They are not exact but very similar. So this video should still guide you in a good direction. Have a great day!
I have a big issue with my doors. The metal rob that connects the interior handle and the system always falls out making me have to roll the window down and open it from the outside.
There should be a metal clip that locks that rod in place. I havent personally checked but Ive been told the clips can be purchased at an autoparts store int he "Help" section. When I confirm them I'll post the part number and hopefully a link to purchase some in the detail below the video or pinned to the top comment section. I'll tag another reply to you when I find out. Hope it helps!! Have a great day!
@@Poweraddicts I have that same problem. Did you ever get the name for that?
You think the procedure is the same for half doors, I'm missing a latch on my drivers side half door, the outside latch works Good just missing the inside latch, trying to find one somewhere
Jeep is usually pretty good on using the same parts for different models I'm pretty sure your half door latch is the same as a full door . Just the rods and latch location will be slightly different do to the door shape :)
I've changed the ones on my half doors. It is pretty similar but actually easier to get to once you take the panel off. I didn't even have to remove the rods from the latch
Thanks, just gonna have to find one, still gotta take the panel off to make sure the rest of the parts are there
I've got some half doors that I'll tear apart to make some videos off of. I'll try and get the door handle one done ASAP for ya!
@@Poweraddicts thanks brother, I appreciate that.
