Every scene with these two says so much about their characters Gus is a perfect version of what heisenberg wants to be He has the trust of mike and his staff is well taken care of Even the cops love him. Over the last 20 years gus fring has run an impeccable operation Heisenberg burns it all down in a half a year.

The way he changes his expression to a heartless drug lord from a friendly restaurant owner is so fucking fantastic. He should have won an emmy for this role.
The most terrifying part of this scene is the fact that the drink machine doesn’t have any labels on it but apparently Gus knows which one is the Diet Coke.

I'm curious why he uses pounds rather than kilos. He's a chemist. They use the metric system. Drugs are typically measured in metric. I know it's America, but still.

The most telling part of the scene is when Gus asks why Jesse and Walt says "because he does what I say." Gus does see some of himself in Walt where he didn't a second earlier. It's one sociopath to another, communicating through their mutually understood language of power and control.

Just recently saw a video where Giancarlo tells how he discussed with Vince Gilligan for quite a while about how he wanted to play this character as more of a respected businessman instead of a mafioso type. He created this character more than the creators did.
Worst mistake gus made wasn't getting involved with Walt. It was trying to kill Walt at every opportunity he had out of paranoia. If gus hadn't been constantly trying to kill Walt, and had offered him a strings free, come and go type of business relationship with actual. Job security, Walt would've stayed cooking and respected gus while they could have run a long lasting business together. Instead, Walt killed gus because he was constantly worried that gus would kill him, which he would have if Walt hadn't killed him first. Ironically, it was gus's cautiousness that got him killed.
I'd argue it was Walt who started this vicious cycle. like Mike says in his final scene, Walt could have just kept his head down and known his place and become filthy rich like a Gael type person. but he is arrogant and addicted to the feeling of power. that's why Mike says he's an explosion waiting to go off.

He saved Jesse from Gus' guys because Jesse was his B Plan If things with Gus dont work out. And finally, he didnt save Jesse from the Nazis because of guilt, but because of revenge only. Getting his power back.

It's such a good detail that what got Gus to break character, is the insult of Walt comparing himself to Gus. Gus prides himself in being careful and Walt saying that was a slap in the face😂
I've watched so many overhyped shows just to get disappointed with their downfall, and even I can say Breaking Bad deserves every drop of praise it gets.
You just know gus was impressed by walters ability to clock him as the contact he was looking for. He shouldve known better than to work with him though because it was clear from the beginning walt was like him and he wouldnt stop until he had complete power and control of the business just like he wanted.
And then Mr. White provided him the 38 pounds of excellent chicken and that's how a great business partnership began between this two men.
And then Gus screwed up when he threatened him and his family
