I started reading comments before watching the vlog and was expecting something different. The vlogger clearly stated the owner of the company's name and his ancestry, yet I'm seeing seeing people stating the same as if that information was not presented.
The owner of the company is Chinese by descent, which is the obvious that was stated. Most people commenting would say otherwise if they were in Europe or USA. EVERY black person in USA is classed as an African-American, even if he or she has never set foot in Africa. The same goes for any other ethnic group, Asian, Hispanic, etc. In the UK, you are Black Caribbean, Black British, Black African, any other black, and it's accepted, but when the vlogger says Chinese ancestry, it's seen as racist.
The essence of the vlog was to promote a successful Jamaican business and the astute leadership of its Chinese owner to navigate the challenges and stay on top.
Well done Elite Jamaica, for highlighting the cultural diversity of Jamaica and how when cultures blend, the result is success.
Thank you so much, it's the same when I listed Lee chin as the richest Jamaican they said he was not Jamaican he was Chinese. Can't please people and they are entitled to their opinion so I will just continue to post quality content as usual.
@EliteJamaica You can educate a dunce, but you cannot educate a fool.
@@EliteJamaica some of us Jamaicans read without understanding
The inability to comprehend or overstand. Some people just like to have something to say to get into the conversation whether it's relevant or not.
Jamaicans don't know their history. Neither is tasters black owned. Chinese came to jamaica and .are patties popular. Alot of the instruments reggae artists learned to play were Chinese and Irish owned, but yet jamaicans say reggae is black music. Dem say vp records teef but no other local label has helped to push reggae around the world. Big up WI original Chinese jamaicans.
Very few jamaicans know that the original Chinese and these new sets of Chinese aren't friends. The original Chinese ran away from this set you see coming here now. Buyer beware.
This man has done so much for Jamaica.... Nuff respect
Yes, I like the way he do his research and find out the information and explain to his audience. I want some of the CZcamsrs and they will tell you other thing or someone and then some point they say oh me don't know what that is as if they don't know to go on Google and find it. Yes so we go for there research on information that you can rely on. I'm not saying it's 100% but it's better than most.
My childhood recollection of business owners from the 60's-80's in Kingston was that the Chinese Jamaicans owned bakeries and supermarkets - The Indian Jamaicans owned Jewellery shops and Pharmacy's and the Syrian and Jewish Jamaicans owned the clothing shops. That is a generalisation of course from the mind of a child. History will tell us that these peoples ended up in Jamaica usually as indentured slaves, so were paid wages; or fled from persecution in their homelands - so were often in a better financial position to start a business. Of course there are many that took wage jobs as well; contributing to the labour force and the development of the island. Out of many one people!
Of course all of those people know one thing that we seem to just don't understand, they know how to live and work together. When you're in America you see these people with live together to every one of them can get their own even some East African practice this. But black people as soon as the child reach the age where he supposed to be an adult He's out there trying to struggle his own nobody is trying to do anything for development if a family has 10 kids every one of them is doing their supper thing and they can't get along.
Thank you for your delivery of the facts as I recall them also. I don't know about the other 13 Parishes, but in Kingston & St Andrew during the late 50's to mid 60's Bruce's Patties(Chinese Jamaicans) on Retirement Cres was King and the ONLY bakery to make Beef Patties with a crust to die for! Shout out to the Tastee group(Chinese Jamaicans) who stepped away from Bruce's in the late 60's, started a small bakery in Union Square, Cross Roads selling Patties, Coco Bread & Beef loaf and later built the flagship Tastee Patties on Half Way Tree Rd to accommodate the crowds & take the Crown from Bruce's. Tastee had improved the Patty and most of us had to have at least 2 daily!
All Patties in Jamaican were Jamaican Chinese Concoctions So this Should not be a surprise
The Jamaican patties are not a Chinese concoction. They are in fact based on the British Cornish pasty which the Colonials introduced and consumed in the colonies. Of course, Jamaicans adopted and made their own changes to the pastry. In fact, these patties were made in various households. and even sold and exchanged among neighbours. The Chinese really started to more fully commercialize the product by baking and distribution through their bakeries and "corner shops" And as they say; "the rest is history"
@@JanetCousins-to3hzI agree with you. People are so willing to dismiss the contributions of black people. Commercialization requires money that poor black people didn't have. Patties were made at home and in little corner shops. Chains used to be only in kingston. Haitians also do patties.
If it was introduced by the British it's still not Black. @@JanetCousins-to3hz
@JanetCousins-to3hz There were no such pastry in Jamaica cuisine before a Jamaican chinese introduced it. Patty is actually a combination of several pastries with influences from several ethnic groups in Jamaica.
Great.Bravo to Mr. Chin. I am very proud to be a Jamaican.
From what I know, Juci Patties rear their own cattle and also buy from other local farmers. They also have an outlet which sells beef products to the public at the depot. Excellent company which supports the Jamaican economy 💯 Thanks for the upload Elite Jamaica.
I went to high school with the owner of juici patties. His name is Jucki Chin. Jucki is Chinese ancestry, but he's very jamaican. Jucki is originally from rocky point. Jucki wife is jamaican he's jamaican. Jucki can't speak, not even one Chinese word. His wife is not Chinese. Your headline is misleading. Big up, jucki
Are you denying him his Chinese ancestry?
@@EliteJamaicahe is JAMAICAN 🇯🇲
I totally agree with you that the headline is misleading. He is a genuine yardy.
@@EliteJamaica Not denying his chinese ancestry.
This is the way you started the video.
"do you know that juici patties is a Chinese owned business."
With all the chiny taking over jamaica talk going around nowadays, your first line would make it appear that it's some recent chiny people own juici patties. Chinese is a nationality which often confused with race. The man is a Jamaican a loyal Jamaican from asian decent.
@@EliteJamaicayou sound crazy. Are you even Jamaican????
Tastee & National Bakery are both founded and operated by Chinese Jamaicans & are around decades before Juicy Patties .
wtf !! Which cave have you been hiding in. Did you know Bob Marley’s dad is white ? Jamaicas motto is out of one people ! Black , Chinese ,Indian ,Sephardic Jew ,Taino ,Lebanese , Syrian , English . Dog , goat , chicken , fish. Ok no more 😂
Yes I was maintenance supervisor at National Bakery. My wife named the magazine Fresh off the Line. She won a dinner for us at Devon House
Juici is Jamaican regardless of black or Chinese owned.
Good information, bro .
This thought right here is why the black man as a whole is failing globally!
Funny because the average black person is never embraced into their fold the way the average black man/ woman worships other races. See how that’s working out. Own nothing and demand no reparations from England and Spain because “ we are all one” right? Then bawl and wonder why we are always at the bottom. Strong families, enough capital, group economics and sense of self worth is what builds up a society not racial inferiority complex and ignorance.
Jamaica.. could not have had a bettah motto...Out of many one people! ❤
Agreed.
JAMAICA IS 98%% BLACK African!! What many people yall be talking about 😅
Our blessed national motto Out Of Many One People. We in Jamaica mix up mix up background. If you know, you know…😮 sorry for those who don’t know.😂

Very great entrepreneur indeed, people seems to think I am saying something bad about the owner or the business without even watching the video.

@@EliteJamaica it is bad bro.. this is extremely awful we own NOTHING if you ever see how these "chinses jamaican" owns EVERYTHING that bring income for jamaica ! what make it worst a family of chinese could be here for 150 years and still have full blood chinese in there family and that because wealthy chinese like this man is keeping it in the family by allowing there son/daughter to marry there cousins!! that crazy non of the wealth is going in the hands of BLACK jamaicans we are slowly going back to the 60s but instead of americans living in upechelon society it will now only be chinese..15 years me give it
Thats why we need a black family starting a patty business, because this is culture food & we need generational wealth.
Why not buy a Jucci beef franchise like other black jamaicans?
@@IamLeightonOwning a franchise means you have to take direction from the parent company.
Ok, pool your money in local communities and choose as a group where/who you all wish to invest it into.
That is how a lot of the Chinese and Indians did it.
Black migrants to the UK did this in the 40s/50s/60s when they weren’t able to get loans from banks to buy housing, but then for some reason never taught it to their children.
Thanks for watching, please share
I already did!
We've had Jamaican Patties here in South Florida...Hammonds, Five Star Bakery, Charlies and Golden Crust...some reataurants also sell Jamaican Beef Patties from hotcases. I can get Jamaican Beef Patties from the dining facility at my Job as well. I hope these well established businesses will continue to thrive.
Island Grill also.. a Chinese Jamaican woman She also sits on the board of ncb
Juicy patties is a family own company , it is an example of how it is to
work together as a family unit and to create something together out of nothing .......so we need to stop looking at the Chinese and start looking at our self
I said that in the video that its family entrepreneurship.
Well said!!!!!!!!
As long as he is Jamaican who cares.

I was born in London, England.
To Jamaican parents.
I’m not British.
What if you were born in Jamaica to British parents, what would that make you?
@@EliteJamaica - British, no?
A dog born in a barn, ain’t a horse.
@user-fd7ju5sb6b So why you fail to acknowledge Jukie Chin’s Chinese descent.
It took it for granted that most Jamaicans knew that Juici is owned by Chinese Jamaicans. So too is Tastee Patties. Other popular Chinese owned food service and/or manufacturing businesses, apart from several supermarkets, include the Island Grill chain of restaurants, National Baking Company Ltd, Purity Bakery, Lasco Group of Companies which has also branched out into pharmaceutical and related products and personal and small business financing. Many if not most of the superretts" and "corner shops" and bakeries in rural communities are owned and operated by Jamaican born and newly immigrant Chinese.
The man was born in Jamaica he's Chinese Jamaican most of the bakeries in Jamaica are own by Chinese Jamaican that's not news
True most of the business are Chinese owned but some people don't know that. There weren't too many black owned businesses when I was growing up. Probably still the same even with many trying to be entrepreneurs.
Say it again for the one's in the back please!
Jamaican owned
Yes Jamaican but not black owned, contrary to popular belief. If you watch the full video I think you will understand the aim of the video.
Nice video. I also heard my mom talked about Wilfred Patties that was near Cross Roads
Ok, thanks for watching
Juici Patties is Jamaican owned.
I didn't say it wasn't I said its not black owned, so are you denying the owners their Chinese ancestry?
@@EliteJamaica you said it was Chinese owned, that's incorrect

There is a Chinese lady of CZcams creating a divide of true Jamaican people.. separating black people from Jamaica.. someone from her community (Chinese) needs to check her and shut her down because it’s not good for Chinese owner businesses. We black people are the only openly accepting people of other nationality in the Caribbean and abroad.. so respect due to a great and resilient people .
I know who you are talking about. I don't much like her either.
@@annmariebusu9924 she needed to be shut up because they have been supported and accepted in our community as neighbors and they thrive because of it.. there history is lower than ours as slaves.. now their cousins from the mainland is trying to take over Jamaica.. Jamaica wake up fast before it’s too late and we Jamaicans get evicted from our home..
It doesn’t matter and that’s really great that it’s Chinese-Jamaican. The Chinese has been an active contributing part of Jamaican society for centuries!
I love the Chinese and they’re a part of my collective Jamaican DNA consisting of people from Ghana, Hong Kong, and India .
Thank goodness for China and her descendants, for making this world a BETTER PLACE!
There's no Jamaican DNA.
If we bawn ya, we a Jamaican.
Not the Jamaica Chinese fault
that us bllack Jamaicsns are more consumers than producers of goods .
Now Elite. Do a video of similarly successful black owned and run businesses. There is a lovely florist on Hagley Park Rd, black family owned and run and several others on that same Rd.
You're rushing to judgment. The vlogger said nothing bad about the owners of the establishment.

They also own our music. Many of our musicians have serious problems getting their royalties.
I am a mixed Jamaican, African , white and Chinese.... So what should i be referring to as being. I AM JAMAICAN AND WILL ALWAYS BE.
I notice "white" in lower case. Proves there is no White nationality.

In the Fifties there was Goldens parties and Johnson's. Goldens was very popular at Christmas time. It was near Christmas market and Ward Theatre at Pantomime at time. King Street. Parade.
A lot of people concerned in the comments about black owned or Jamaican owned. It is not a good thing that the majority of Jamaicans are black and own so little. This is a major reason for wealth gap. Blacks should try to own so they can pass on generational wealth and improve our future generations. We all start of from scratch which is not smart. My community had a black owned supermarket and it was a source of pride for us kids. We still shopped from all the business but its a welcome addition and positive outlook for future. I grew up in a time when blacks were not hired in the cibc bank till PJ was elected. We should highlight some black owned business to encourage youths.
Juicy all the way

CHINESE HAS DONE SO MUCH TO JAMAICA, MANNERS AND RESPECT
I am a black Jamaican, likewise my wife. Assuming we migrate to China and have a child there who looks just like us, but gets Chinese citizenship by birth. What would people think of us if we returned to Jamaica and told people that our child is Chinese. I can think of a long list of adjectives that would be used to describe us.

It would have been interesting to do the history of the patties and the different brands

I remember when the first juicy beef patty store open in May Pen , Clarendon , I always stopped to get patties . Long Before Juicy beef , there was a lady in Lionel Town , Vere Clarendon, miss Gatty , I believed her patties was the BEST . I congratulate Juki Chin , I remember seeing him coming from school sometimes he would stopped at Police Station in Lionel with his buddies to play table tennis, He has pioneered a successful business chain in the Juicy brand . God Bless ! Out of many we are one , may God bless you all my fellow Jamaicans .
I lot of business are owned and run by sow many Chinese people and has been for a very long time 👍🇬🇧
Most people really think that Juici Patties is black owned.
From the 1800’s
Majority of major business in Jamaica are Chinese own. China knows if you control a country’s business sector then you can hold that country at ransom. Jamaican do not have a robust investigation body like the FBI or CIA to focus on a lot of these Chinese businesses people that were put in place decades ago to shape our business model. They are also lots of Chinese businesses in the USA however they are being watched we don’t have that capability.
Sad to say I have never tasted a juici patty. We don't have an outlet in the country where I live.
Juici Patties is a Jamaican brand, I am a supporter of 👍🏾❤️

I gave the video a chance despite not liking the title. Such a title would not be relevant 10 or 20 years ago. It isn't contrary to popular belief that the owners have Chinese ancestry as this is widely known by anyone who is Jamaican.
Juici Patties is Jamaican owned, not Chinese owned. Jamaicans don't look at race first. The owners are Jamaican like any other Jamaican and that's intrinsically Jamaican culture.
I like both Juici and Tastee. The business model of Juici definitely impacted Tastee as Tastee was primarily in the capital and Montego Bay and wasn't accessible to all Jamaicans. Juici came in and went to every corner of Jamaica and so many Jamaicans acquired the Juici taste which impacted Tastee when they were ready to expand. An example of this is Ocho Rios with atleast three Juici stores in a quarter mile radius and these stores are always full compared to Tastee store which entered the Ocho Rios market late. This dynamic is what is fascinating between to two business models. Tastee squandered an opportunity by not expanding when they were the primary patty shop in the country.
Please be careful on how you focus on race when it comes to Jamaica. We do not want to be like our neighbors up north. Being Jamaican is what binds us.
Yep... I knew long time...

Muffin53375...Very valid advice. Unfortunately, a tiny few have a problem with the word, "Chinese." The video is a compliment and in no way, a slight. However, we certainly cannot fix stupidity.
