My ol man grew up in a rough new in Brunswick. Him amd one other kid were the only white kids in the neighborhood. He said when the rednecks would start acting stupid at school he would fight alongside the black kids because they were his friends from the neighborhood, and the rednecks would call him a race trader. It's wild to me that stuff like that is happening STILL in the late 90s! 😢
There are some nice areas in Brunswick like on the northside where the shops are like Target, Walmart, etc. There are some areas that have the potential to be better on the southside like the alphabet streets or MLK. Brunswick is just like many other cities. There is the good and the potential to be better. It is easy to bash a city by only looking at the not-so-good areas of the town. I have to say that Brunswick is trying to improve the appearance of downtown while still trying to keep the historical charm that the city provides. Even though Brunswick may have a population of only just over 16,000, it never feels like it because of the large trade area population of near 115,000. Those areas that you choose to look at may have an abandoned feel as you said but the overall city of Brunswick doesn't have an abandoned feel. Many residents from surrounding counties such as Mcintosh, Brantley, Wayne and North Camden county greatly depend on the city of Brunswick for job opportunities, shopping, dining, entertainment and for any other terms that a city would offer. Brunswick is a small town but it isn’t as small as you are portraying it to be. Downtown Brunswick, St. Simons, and Jekyll Island are all tourist destinations. People have move from all parts of the United States to live in The Golden Isles. Please come correct about our city!

Being from Savannah I can tell you Brunswick a smaller Savannah, Savannah a smaller Atlanta n Atlanta a smaller new York city. it's real killaz everywhere you go Brunswick right down the road from us n even tho Savannah is much bigger than Brunswick I know to show the up most respect when I go there cause I know how real any small towns are like gangsta nip n point blank said small town killaz.in Savannah we got 145 thousand compared to 16 thosand in bwick but I'm on my best behavior anything I step in that city .
I feel like saying the population is only 16K is somewhat misleading. That’s just the people within the city limits. There are more people within Glynn County that just don’t live within the city. We are all Brunswick. I was born and raised here but left in 2011.

Yall are talking about secular, suburb communities which are often intentionally placed away from most of this stuff.
