Wow that is some bridge 😮. Brunswick is a beautiful little city, especially all those homes with large front porches and old oak trees draped with Spanish moss. Thanks for sharing!
The "grasslands" are called marshes. Sidney Lanier - for whom this bridge was named - wrote a poem called "The Marshes of Glynn." (Brunswick is in Glynn County.). I grew up here, long before this bridge was built.
Same here when they built it in Brunswick lol i was down there when they built it was crazy lol sad part my family member committed suicide of the new bridge 🥺
Brunswick isn't a military town, but there are large submarine bases south and just north of the Florida line where St. Mary's and Kingsland closer to Fernandina Beach.Borh St. Simons And Jekyll Island are adjacent to Brunswick which has a charming downtown but some dangerous Hoods adjacent to it.
Yeah, Kingsbay used to be a big sub hub. My daddy and granddaddy used to work on them. And it only exists because Jimmy Carter loved ga and thought it would help the economy to add so many navy families. And it did. Then Obama pulled back a lot on the navy and those navy towns have suffered greatly
I hear ya buddy .My wife and I drove over that bridge a couple of years ago.As we were crossing she would not open her eyes. That bridge is so high u can see it if your driving on route 95 south and look to the left. But I think the cheasapeake bay bridge in Virginia is worse
Downtown is dead after six at night unless it’s the first Friday of the month. That’s why no one was around. Should have gone up father on Mansfield you would have seen one of the high schools. It is over two hundred years old.
Sidney Lanier Bridge. It carries US 17 and Georgia State Route 25 and is the largest bridge in the state of Georgia. It is often compared to the Talmadge Bridge in Savannah and the Ravenel Jr. Bridge in Charleston, SC because they're all cable-stayed and all carry US 17.
It’s so weird seeing the town 10 minutes away from me y’all should visit the Altamaha river next time y’all are in town. There’s a trail you can go walking down, low tide during the day is the best time to go
I love this because I know you guys haven’t crossed this before, but my family goes to Jekyll every year and that bridge is literally nothing to us now. (You guys should visit Jekyll it’s so nice! The only thing is that St. Simon and Sea island are very expensive!)
If you keep saying it's terrifying, it will seem more so. Take it from a person who hates heights. Change your talk, change your perspective, it will help.
Not necessarily. I visit Brunswick frequently (I grew up there before this bridge was built, and still go down to visit family and friends every couple of months.). I have never ONCE crossed this bridge! A few months ago, I was driving from Jacksonville to St. Simons, and the route over the bridge is the quickest so I was DETERMINED to do it once and for all. But as I approached the bridge from the south, I literally couldn't continue. I did a U-turn right there at the Jekyll Island causeway, and went back around through Blythe Island. I Could Not Do It.
Marshside grill in Brunswick is the best restaurant in the entire state of Florida and Georgia I've been to hundreds of restaurant in Tampa and st pete but Marshside grill in Brunswick is the best super friendly and super yummy..

Brunswick is so full of drugs. I HATED going to highschool there. Every kid was high. Its a ungodly place full of ungodly people. I grew up there. It is horrible. Dont be devieved buy what you see while driving. You arent experiencing anything nor know the people.
I went to high school there too, Glynn Academy Class of 1980. You must have hung out with the wrong crowd is all I'm saying. Sure there are kids using drugs in ANY high school, but there are more kids who aren't. Pick your friends wisely.
Y’all don’t stop providing great content of the Southeast, much respect!

Willies Wee Née Wagon. Hands down the best lunch spot but you do sit outside, if you can find a spot.
Looks like between Savannah and Charleston beautiful town 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳❤
Georgia is a great state and Brunswick is a great town I've lived here my entire life
The name of that bridge is Sidney Lanier on US-17
That old rickety bridge that used to be in Charleston before they built the new bridge used to scare the hell out of me.
Same here when they built it in Brunswick lol i was down there when they built it was crazy lol sad part my family member committed suicide of the new bridge 🥺
@@atlbabystud omg....sorry for your loss
Brunswick looks like a really cool town! Reminds me a lot of some South Carolina low country towns.
I had an old van with an engine that gave out at the top of the bridge. When i tell you i screamed 😅

This is sydney lanier bridge and it was responsible for bankrupting several companies. It was finished somewhat recently, like in the 21st century

Huh? If you're in Brunswick you'd cross that bridge to get to Jekyll Island, not St. Simon's Island.
