It's funny that by 1970, most of the Nascar modifieds were still pre-war coupes. They didn't look anything like these hulks; chopped, lowered, and super sleek, but they still used the coupe bodies. I guess the tradition was just that strong.

Awesome! NASCAR footage from the 40's is super rare!

Wow, What a gem. Thanks a lot. One of the prettiest things I've seen in a while. It's like a dream watching it. I was born in 59, and these ghosts were still around when I was young.

It wasn’t filmed in color. Color Footage filmed before the 60s has usually been colored over by someone like technicolor or something.

@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar I'm pretty sure there was color motion picture photography available by the late 1940s in some of its earlier versions, though it involved expensive complicated processing. Whatever this is it sure looks better than the digital colorizing that makes most cars look like some shade of drab purple.

You better be more than sure fella, not only is this color, but color film has existed since the 1900s. Original process was called..mh, something I have it saved.
Color in it's normalcy has existed in wide use since the 1930s, thought there were people who had color cameras in the 1920s aka dufaycolor and Cinecolor. Kodachrome color cameras rare as soot and Autochromes which were more common. There's a whole 900 picture gallery of a 1926 color trip to Canada. A lot of dark gray vehicles... though it's unsaturated over time, and canada had a huge population of black and gray vehicles compared to Chicago (in refrence to downtown moosejaw)

It feels supper slow compared to the nowadays races that it almost feels surreal, car racing sure has come far. Im excited to see how races in 10, 20 or 30 change
