Damn, this is really heartbreaking in a "you really shouldn't be that upset over this, it's seriously not too big of a deal" sorta way. It's like how newspapers, home phones, and dial-up are all similarly being phased out in the wake of something superior. I guess it's just a little bittersweet - they've all had their time in the spotlight and it's tough to see them go, but we're all better off because of them. God speed, all.
It is bitter sweet. also home phones are still a thing, they're just more expensive than having a mobile phone, even two of them.

This station is broadcasting on a frequency shared by analog TV, due to the analog TV shutdown, the areas that were also used by FM radio are also not allowed to be used
This station is using VHF Channel 6 audio frequency as a loophole to broadcast legally without obtaining an FM commercial license, as it was easier to obtain a low-power television license.

theres still some analog tv transmitters broadcasting in Canada. including high powered analog transmitters. I receive CJCH-TV-6 on 87.7 from 175 kilometers away.
That's because the Canadian government wasn't as greedy about selling off that 700mhz and 600mhz spectrum to the cell phone companies as the FCC was. They left analog low power to run alongside digital as they know the remote areas can't receive a digital signal reliably.
but I think they ended broadcast earlier this year on analog... idk
