    I was playing single lane yesterday and got a portal after 7 tiles without a single split. So my world was only 7 tiles long and each wave instantly spawned after the other since there was no expand button

    I'd strongly suggest prioritizing getting those range upgrades on the ballista over the +1-2 dmg modifiers/status effects. Obvious effect of more time to atk enemies, but especially on triple it let's those ballista on the pathless side of the tower join in the fight sooner, helping reduce the chances of enemy breaches.
    ...mainly salty about that one round near the beginning where you chose Shield damage over range several waves before shields were relevant.

    I think all the additional gold generation mechanisms in this game are a bit of a noob trap.
    Banditry is probably the best, but it costs 3 card investments to get running and you have to be sure you're in a strong enough position to be able to take the penalty and you have to plan for gameplay with that penalty in mind for late game when armored fast moving missiles and shielded fast moving eyes will punish banditry even if you had the vampires, bats, and ghosts figured out.
    Houses are a very distant second. Having a ring of crossbows around the main tower is okay for the first half dozen waves. Then you come up against the wall that many of the placed crossbows are in abysmal positions to actually contribute to the fight, have no additional height benefits, and basically serve as a flaccid hail mary when go from bad to impossible. If you're going to place a tower next to a house for a little additional gold generation--which is all it is, a *little* additional gold--you either need so much gold that you can waste on an effectively useless tower or the house itself has to be positioned in a lane to be tactically relevant at the bare minimum. I say build your ring of crossbows for like 6 rounds tops and once you've got a little additional room to work with start selling the initial crossbows and place them in better positions.
    The haunted houses are just worthless. The only way a haunted house would even be worth placing is if you had a double adjacency to two tombstones. They don't generate nearly enough gold even then. Worse is if you spam them, and then whatever additional gold gained is swallowed by the money pit of having to spam the requisite mana banks/siphons to fuel them. I've heard you can make them better if you collect the cards that increase their efficiency, but that just makes them worse because those cards picked to improve the haunted houses could've been bleeding on your mortars. It could've been additional poison applied on your poison sprayers. It could've even been another level banditry which is far better.

      I agree on the haunted houses, but regular house economy is no joke. It ramps up as the game gets later and you’ll have like 3k earned per house if I remember correctly. Definitely covers the cost of the crossbows you place to gain the income, and those crossbows aren’t totally useless either

      @@thaonekid2 regular houses are arguably overpowered...LOL.
      I'm not sure how much income you can get out of haunted houses, but I think they may be ok as an investment since you can recoup the initial cost by selling the mana banks/houses and keep the interest...so to speak. It does force you to use a valuable card on them though.

      Haunted houses I think only work well if you use them in conjunction with mines. The HH give gold as a percentage of the max tower HP, and mines increase that max HP, so each mine increases every haunted house income.

    I think the problem early game while triple defense is that he kept setting all his ballistae to most health so they were targeting all the enemies with health first. This allowed all the armored enemies to get close without taking any damage since the fast small enemies didn’t have armor so they were the first to be targeted but served as a distraction to let the big boys come through. Same with the shielded enemies. Having all the lanes the same length just playing into that further.
    Also the particle cannons and airplanes should have another chance; I don’t think they were given enough upgrades, attention or good placements. I might be just complaining to much doe 🤷🏽‍♂️

      actualy, most health takes highest total health into account, even if they have armor or shield ontop of it. earlier levels most health is just the way to go on 2/3s of your ballistas, but you would need to swap it to most health AND most armor before the rockets come. rest is valid though, both radars and plasma cannons are 2 tower wonders for runs, and upgrading them is real bad value.

    I believe the earliest possible portal would be on level 5 on triple defence. Both side paths turn to face centre path, one of which then extends by one tile then turns in again. This will force a portal directly connected to the tower.

    Honestly, I think you did great with the fact you tried it in triple lane. That game mode is hard, and a particle cannon run on it is even harder until the strat that works for you clicks in.
    As far as that last run it feels like the problem was the robots getting too close. I think you were right about needing to make more cannons target armor but maybe forgot? (I can't tell)
    * P.S. Maybe similar to other towers the level of particle cannon matters? But it's something that I am unsure of. Just 1 more thing to test I guess (this game has a lot of that).

    I did a saw blade run yesterday and my map had a total of 4 splits on a single lane map. It took until around 15 before the first split, and I didn't get saw blades until 30.

    One mechanic that would be cool is if you could spend your leftover exp for "Weight Points" you could put on certain upgrades or towers to make them show up more or less often, something you could add or remove between games for free without having to reset everything

    You should put some ballistad that are close to the tower on near death and least health so they pick of the easy kills instead of 1 guy tanking for 3 enemies that all get through at once

      he is uploading his old videos i think to youtube, i went to his twitch and he played one game on 1.08 i think. Its annoying to watch him use turrets that have been nerfed, and the bosses are all much more difficult to kill, especially end boss.

    Wanderbot, I wonder at what wave you think houses pay for themselves at.
    If you read this comment, I want you to make an educated guess.
    I calculated this based on one of the better cases, of 27 instances of house payment, which is on the high average to give the houses the best chance of paying themselves off on a good map.
    It's assuming you're also using Ballista's for defence, and getting them up to 470g, like you do in most of your videos.
    It takes until level 36 for them to pay themselves off. In order to get to this point, you have put Ballista in non-optimal locations where they are rarely engaged in combat, and when they do they rarely cause a significant impact.
    Considering most of your runs are dying before you get to the point where your houses have paid for the Ballista, I really suggest reconsidering the house strategy as a whole. These days I either ignore Ballista entirely (At which case I will use them for houses and only houses) or ignore houses entirely.

    I love this game. Probably the best tower defense game in my book. Does anything else compare to this? Hands down my new favorite.

      Yes for me, i always loves playing tower defense in warcraft 3 mods, but after that stand alone TD were mostly bad or at least i didnt like them. but this game is really cool

    Devs, if you are reading this, how about letting people pay xp to toggle fully unlocked towers on/off? Or maybe only letting it happen after you get all of that tower’s achievements or after you unlock all unlocks? I mean i would love it to just be flat toggleable, but people like wander seem to not like that… though then i think they could just not toggle stuff off…
