But maybe having more options down the line up will be better for Oilers in the long run, we will see

The Flyers were considering a deal that would have sent Eric Lindros to the Oilers in a package around Doug Weight. It's ironic since the deal the Rangers had with the Nordiques for Lindros also included Doug Weight.

The fact the Islanders tried to trade their whole 2012 Draft for Ryan Murray still blows my mind today. Dude was literally labeled as high floor, potentially low ceiling.
Also for context NYI had 12 selections in draft including pick 4!

Flyers trading up for the 1st in 1975 after the back to back surprisingly didn’t lead to more championships. Mel Bridgman was one hell of a power forward but he wasn’t able to help the team reach Dynasty status.
Kuch and mcdavid prob would be jjst as impressive as leon and mcdavid are together to be fair .
Leon was rumoured to be traded for PK glad that didn’t happen either.
It was never rumored. That's what Montreal asked for, Edmonton laughed at them and hung up the phone. Thats the furthest it ever went, it was never close

Elias Petterson trade with Carolina was all a smoke screen to stress him up to sign an extension of there contract. Sure they had some fears he could leave them in the summer when contract expired, but I seriously doubt any team could and would offer any eqial level player for him - when his contract expires.
Most prime players do not accept "rent-a-player" deals.
That Carolina offer was too much of a joke to be taken seriously

Iginla almost ended up in Boston before he went to Pittsburg, TSN had even reported it before I went to bed but in the morning it was reported he went to Pittsburg… my friends wouldn’t have believe me if I hadn’t taken a pic of my tv.
Boston swept Pittsburg that year a lost to Chicago in the finals, I still think Boston would’ve won the cup that year if they hadda had Iggy

Lol the Oilers were never close to trading draisaitl for kucherov, and they were even further away from trading him to Montreal. They literally laughed at Montreal and hung up the phone
I honestly doubt kuch was being considered to be traded. He’s the best player in franchise history theyd be more likely to move Stamkos if they were to move any big names at that time.
