The musical score for The Northman was composed by two guys named Robin Carolan and Sebastian Gainsborough (I preordered the vinyl), but I don't know if Heilung's music will be in there. Maybe it's just this one song that's featured in the trailer, like how the song "Paper Planes" by M.I.A was in the trailer for the movie Pineapple Express but wasn't actually played in the movie.

Depths of The German Forest-Lost Legions-Skulls-The rain began to fall on Verus' men, on one side, making there way, the mountain towards the narrow gap of upcoming marsh, a shorter travel, soon begotten fatal end. Spears into the air a soaring killing some Romans. Confusion flushed the minds of the Emires 30,000. 3 days, 3 entire legions and there followers we're slaughtered. Augustus for ten years roamed his palace screaming, Quentilius Verus, give me back my legions.
Armenius, a German scaled to knightly stature for the Roman Empire, set this trap. His call to Rome for help with a rebellion in his land. They entered through the marsh as he anticipated. No answer to the opponents call of war.
They came across an awefull scene of unburied jumbles of bones lying around, and Skulls pounded into tree trunks; with much military equipment askew. They tried to give their comrades a decent burial, but incomplete was their efforts.

The Romans were terrified. So this kind of stuff really did happen, although these were Celts not Germans of course.

These black shields and black body painting reminds me how Tacitus described one of the dozens of Germanic tribes: "Now the Arians, besides their forces, in which they surpass the several nations just recounted, are in their persons stern and truculent; and even humour and improve their natural grimness and ferocity by art and time. They wear black shields, their bodies are painted black, they choose dark nights for engaging in battle; and by the very awe and ghastly hue of their army, strike the enemy with dread, as none can bear this their aspect so surprising and as it were quite infernal. For, in all battles the eyes are vanquished first."

Francesco Comelli Brother you guys should reach back and honour who you are supposed to be, I am half a breed Native American(aka First Nations) I was raised Traditional Native American but I am also half mixed with Gaelic, Celtic, Saxon and Norse blood, I grew up around both sides of my family and I'm very proud of all sides of my blood, I grew up being taught about my European family and my coat of arms and my Native American family and history as well... Anyhow I believe they are all very similar originally and this is the way we are supposed to live and we need to be close to the earth, the sea, the animals we hunt and eat, as well as the forest we hunt in and use for other resources, all our ancestors use to honour most of their enemies they defeated even when they had some trophy of their victory over their defeated enemies. this is what all warrior related peoples and cultures use to do and believe in... We are starting to remember and get closer to our roots and who we're supposed to live and what we used to believe... It is good to be proud of who we are, where we all come from and remember and honour our ancestors. All these people have so much in common and they were all very brave and very tough, real warriors which is important in building or making a real man, that is what I was taught by my Native American side and the teachings. A warriors is not a war monger so much as he is a provider, protector, a son, a father, a brother and husband, but at the end of the day they fight to protect and survive, all our ancestors would have been trained since like 10 years old and on for the purpose of fighting and protecting, it's an important part of being and becoming a man is what the elders say and what I believe. Haha sorry that I rambled brother, but it's important to me and what I believe strongly in, I believe this has been stolen from all of us by what's known as Romanization, even they were defeated Romanization was already planted and its roots spread

About 100 years before the viking era, yes, but that means it is in the time of the syncope which was between 500- and faded away somewhere in 800. That places this in the language era that is directly *between* the proto-norse and the norse language. If you really want to get into specifics, every culture on Earth does come from Asia, Africa or both. It evolved over the course of time by the effects of migrations and intercultural mixes. Cultures don't just appear in the middle of the night, out of nowhere. In this case, if you backtrack far enough, what you call 'Scandinavian cultures' (which does not really exist, by the way) probably comes from somewhere in the Middle-East and/or Mongolia... They've been mixed with some celtic, uralian and slavic influences over the time, mostly.
