ℹ️ About the Episode:
We had our doubts about going to Venice. Sure, the pictures we saw looked perfect-but these days, filters and AI can make just about everything look perfect. Videos can have selective editing, for that matter, but we really do our best to share a true reflection of our experience. That being said, we've learned that experiences can vary greatly due to many factors out of our control.
All of which is a long way of saying that Venice surprised us. When it comes to creating the best possible experience at a new (and popular) destination, we've learned to avoid the main attraction as the first stop. In this case, if we'd gone straight to St. Mark's Square, we might have been turned off by the crowds and touristy nature of the attraction. Instead, we took a casual walk to a more local part of Venice. We chose a restaurant based on a recommendation from the person who checked us into our vacation rental. We did end up visiting St. Mark's Square later-and we weren't overly impressed. Luckily, it wasn't our first impression. We ended up going back late that night for what seemed like a private concert. These experiences can't be planned. We've learned to go with the flow and stay open to exploring with no pressing agenda. This isn't just our approach in Europe; it has served us well in the States too, from charming East Coast towns to National Parks.

Hi! My husband was in Venice at the same time you all were there, during part of his Navy deployment. He said he saw you at St. Mark’s Square and introduced himself, and that you both were so kind and graciously took a picture with him! That really made his day, so thank you!! We have been following KYD for a few years now, and have been so inspired to start our own RV journey soon bc of you sharing your story!! Thank you so much! We are look forward to seeing where you go next😌
Sad to hear about your father Marc, my heart goes out to you. May he rest in peace! Thanks for what you do!!!!
LOL when Bill recited the McD's jingle. I LOVED this series, so happy for you both to have this time and share it with your wonderful friends. Great photography of all the quaint Italian places, like a painting.
I’m so sad this series is over - it was spectacular!
When I was in Venice 5 years ago with a tour group, we stayed at a hotel rigjt on the canal near the train station. Our pre-paid hotel price with the tour group was far less than your accommodations, and we had an elevator. I recommend people check our tour groups like Trafalgar or costsaver if they would like to pay one price and let the tour package take care of everything for you, even moving your bags to and from your room accommodations. You also get a lot of free time and expedited entrance to major sites, like the coliseum, the Vatican, etc. Hop on hop off buses in cities are cheap and better than renting cars.
Glad your back this weeks. My condolences to your family for Marc's Dad passing
That black dress looks amazing on you, Trish!!!!!!
Rocking the black dress! A++
I wanted to hate the change in Travel from the RV Life, but I have to say, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People told me I’d be disappointed with Venice because I’d romanticized it in my head, but they were so wrong. It was magical. I love that it exceeded your expectations too! Great video once again ❤
Great time ! We brought our bikes in 2006 and rode a lot of the passes that are in the Giro d Itália it was amazing The Gavia the Stelvio and Mortirolo stayed in Lake Como and Bormio . Lake Como is a must if you go back !
While Italy has been an amazing experience, Venice has been our biggest love! 4th trip this year & two weeks in May in a beautiful apartment overlooking a wonderful Campo. It's magical to see Venice wake up and go to sleep. People that never saw Venice wake up never really saw, the true Venice!
Great trip and video! Still laughing from the outtakes!
So fun! Continued prayers for Marc and all of you with the passing of his dad. 🙏🙏🙏 Fun fact about the cute little song at the end of this video is that it’s the Norwegian birthday song.
I have absolutely loved watching your adventure in Italy, and your travel friends are so awesome!
This is has been one of my favorite seasons! Of course I say that every season! Thanks so sharing your trip with us.
Thank you for taking us along and showing us 🇮🇹. Love all your travels for many years. You are almost like my secret family ❤️
I’ve been watching all kinds of videos for the past few months. I LOVE your content!! Thank you!
Marc so sorry to hear about dad.
Glad to have a video back uploaded.
Thanks.
Really enjoyed this series! Thank you.
Ive been to Venice. I very much enjoyed seeing you guys so happy, joyful, and having so much fun. Jerry in Scottsdale.
Another fabulous vid production- LOVED your take on Venice -
Too fun!!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this trip to Italy. I pray someday to go there. You all went above and beyond to show us this beautiful country. I look forward to your next adventures with Caleb! Thank you for everything you all bring to us each week!😊
Such a great video with some good friends and Bill. Lol love this channel. Thanks for sharing. Love ya, Nancy
19:43 My favorite. I also love that you filmed the night time live music group till the end. (The accordion!)
Aaaand, I'm away from CZcams for a bit and this happens...I live about an hour away from Venice. Been to all the places and done all the things, and still have a million more to do. Would have loved to know you were here and show you all of it. Cinque Terre is one of our favorite areas. And there is so much to see in Venice (we finally broke down and did a tour after visiting on our own dozens of times). Just got back from a tour of Sicily this past weekend.
What a fun video. Venice was so special when my husband and I went many years ago. You trip brought back many memories. Having a good time has a lot to do about who you share it with. You have great friends.
Thanks for sharing your adventures in Italy! Beautiful video!!
Thanks for taking us along on your Italian adventures! So glad you went back to St. Mark's square at night- that's when it's magical! And couldn't agree more, Rick Steves is the best for the Europe advice. I still remember the amazing dinner we had on an out-of-the-way canal there thanks to his guidebook. I've been to more European countries than national parks here at home, so this series was fun to see you all there!
We visited Venice twice and were not disappointed. It's a fascinating city to visit and experience. Two gondola rides are memories of each trip. One time, it was on a Rick Steves 21 day European trip...Best trip ever.
I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed your trip to Italy! Visiting Venice has been a long time dream of mine. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for taking us on this fabulous trip to Italy. Have I mentioned I'm sooooo envious. On the positive side, I didn't have to go all the way to Italy to bump my head multiple times....I did that at an antique B&B in Taos, NM. I bumped it so many times in the same place it finally started bleeding.
Thank you, it brought back so many good memories. The whole series was awesome. Grazie.
A great end to this series of videos. Thank you for the bonus clips at the end. Too great.
New adventures, new sights and sounds! Fantastic friends, Fun times and we thank you for sharing it all with us. I’m too old to do stairs😂😂 and it blesses me that more folks get out and travel while they are younger and physically able to hike, so many of us only get to view far away places thru your lens🤗👍
Thank-you. Sharing you visit brought back so many wonderful memories.❤
Welcome back guys, we missed you! Hugs to Marc and family. ❤
Awesome Italiano series! Best relatable line is Marc saying “even at Ferrari I’m still not reading anything”. haha! Also, love the extra clips!
Not to mention the rush standing on that platform as that train zipped by! 😊
Thank you for taking us along on your adventures ❤
Love Italia, we can't wait to go back.
You guys are great and always have so much fun
😊
Great series folks! - Travelling with excellent friends like you do could even make a bad trip good - Thanks! - Cheers! ♥
OMGosh! This was so much fun! Thanks guys!
I have really enjoyed this trip. There are 14 steps to my second floor and hope they keep me heart healthy. Gosh the food sure looked yummy. Fun boat rides and interesting how they start their day. Thank you so much!
OMG, not handicap or retire in your 70's and 80's friendly! So glad you young people showed us the towns!
Thank you again for sharing this beautiful Italy trip.👏🫵🏼🍷🍺
Loving this Italy trip. Thanks!
Thank you Marc for filming and we love the Cooper's too!!
My husband and I just returned from 3 wks in Europe, including 4 days in Venice and we LOVED Venice! Such a charming city, beautiful weather, no real crowds, great food and beauty around every corner. Highly recommend!
This is really really lnteresting. I like your friends line The taste of the wind. Wow My wife is Italian, she will want to go there if she watches this. Thanks Guys. Good editing and music is fantastic. I could only guess how much work this was. Charley
So wonderful to follow you four on this trip! I could never walk as far, or walk the steps you can. But I love to live my dreams with my travel friends on you tube!
Good video I like your travels and I find it interesting that I can see where you go and learn about I have been watching KYD since you started and my son and I like to watch your videos to I'm looking forward to your next videos
Great clips, really great friends ( need more of them).
The young lovers from ItaLy and empty nesters look so happy. Italy is so Romantic. Good luck with Euker...happy winnings.
Wow we did Rome / Florence / Venice in Aug! I can’t believe we missed you guys!
Yes I loved McDonalds in Italy! They had good chicken nuggets ❤
What *treasures of traveling the Italian way! Troves of narrow walkways, low beam ceilings & crazy stepping stones to high atop lodging. Got your groove-on waterways also -- your "Couplehood" was hilarious & full of contagious laughter. Thanks for these additional delights of details & affectionately sharing -- arrivederci with safe travels 🧳
Great series of travel and friends!
At 76 I don't know if I will be blessed to go to Italy or not, but at least now I can say I saw it. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful treat. The whole experience from video 1 till now has been such a wonderful experience. I wish smell a vision was something real. haha Looking forward to you being back in the USofA. Safe travels.
I would rather be in Venice, in the meantime... I could watch your shots of the canals for hours and hours. This series in Italy has been fabulous.
Y’all are great! Thanks for sharing 😊
Our sincere sympathy on the loss of your dad. Love the trip to Italy. ❤
"We're not only sitting here with GREAT friends.... *and BILL!!"* HAHA!
I was just going to mention...."Rain Man vibes" and BOOM! You said it!!
I was just going to mention...."Rick Steves" and BOOM! You said it!!
AND Marc, I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. May his memory and everything he taught you.... stay with your family forever. Wishing you peace.
When I was a young child I lived in Italy with my Grandparents when my father was in Vietnam. I have been to Venice many times and always go to see the Bridge of Sighs as that's one of my early memories. I have been to Venice when it's been jam packed with tourists and when it's been deserted. Being able to stay a few days allowed us to take in many more scenes that you otherwise can't when you do it as a day trip. I love Venice and am glad you found it nice as wel.
Amazing!!! Funny😅 BEAUTIFUL ❤ and very entertaining! Thank you for helping me escape to Italy🎉
I am glad Mark change his mind about Venice. I was there for 12 hrs about 10yrs ago and I loved it, no smell lots of tourists, since it was in peak summer, great weather and food. It was a great trip. Your videos always make me smile.
I lived near Venice in the mid 70's, way back when there was no need to fret about crowds. It was sublime. The osso bucco we enjoyed in a tiny ristorante away from the Square was so wonderful I can taste it to this day. Thank you for taking me back to my home away from home so long ago...
What a lovely Italian series thank you! 🎉😊
I took my 2 granddaughters on a 3 week grand Italy tour. I saw things totally different through their eyes & they each got one special request to do. One selected to see Juliet’s Balcony and the other wanted to eat a slice of pizza in front of the Leaning Tower. This trip was also educational for I hired a private guide to visit the Uffizi Gallery for 3 hours at a total of $300 and they loved it so much they wanted more.
The Coopers need their own channel! They are SO funny!!
What do the Coopers do for a living?
Agreed
Love the video series ❤ Thank you.I also liked the Ford reference😂
Mark we completely understand the “stairs”. Just came back from 26 days in Greece and only one hotel with an elevator. We definitely overpacked for our first vacation aboard and as 70+ years old, it was a challenge. My husband counted each stair with you! Lol
I palazzi nei centri storici sono palazzi vecchi e a volte è difficile costruirvi un ascensore
Do you recommend hiring a translator/guide for Greece ? We are going to Italy, Greece, and Spain in two years.
most of the locals we dealt with spoke some measure of English. At times we had to repeat our question or/and change our wording but 90% of our communication went well@@Hugo-Hernandez

Thank you for letting me know
Venice is amazing!! Spent 7 days in Venice, 7 days in Rome. Sorry but Rome is dirty and to busy. Ended our trip in Tucsony for 2 weeks so beautiful. Would love to go back to Venice.
Love your video, your family is so cute. Thanks FYS.
Y’all three couples are so good together, what a fun vacation !!!
Blessings
Fantastic vlog I loved it. What great friendships you have.!😊
My daughter and her new husband just went to Italy for 3 weeks, his dad has a home in Rome, so they had a place to stay and they travelled by bus and train and rented a car once ,she said never again will she drive again,,lol..there’s going to be there for Xmas , we were invited but this year but we can’t go till next year,,have eye surgery on the 15th of dec,, to much pressure for eyes the doctors said,, and we need to save ,,, looks like all of yous had a really good time,,
OMG you and Steph are sooo much a like..bumping your head, stairs, have to have a car, and drippings on the shirt...I laughed so much! Love the Coopers!
Really enjoyed this video! Venice is magical. How did you manage to not purchase a Murano glass chandelier like I did? I ended up remodeling my entire home around that piece! Aww, the memories. I loved this series. I smiled and laughed throughout every one of them. Can't wait to see Caleb 😀
Watching Bill's interaction after getting the car rental. I think he's Caleb's real dad. Their manorisms are very similar. All joking aside, I'm glad the Coopers were with you. It really did feel like an older Caleb was there with you.
“I feel like Rainman” best line yet. Congrats Marc. Love seeing the dynamic between you and your friends, so fun. Also, Rick Steves is The Man. Venice may be crowded, a bit stinky at certain times of year, and even overrated, but it’s Venice! There’s only one-you gotta do it. It was wonderful when we were there some 30 years ago. Looks like it still is.
I’ve visited Italy before but you did a great job. Thank you!
There's a huge campground just a boat-ride away from Venice in an area called Punto Sabbioni. We've been there several times. Marina Di Venezia is the name of it. Highly recommended.
Another great episode. We love this series and we are sad you are heading home. Can't you stay another week? 🤣 Thank you so much for bringing us along. Great friends too!
Trish looks prettier each season and Marc… more handsome. And you’re both hilarious. And your enthusiasm is so contagious!
We arrived in Venice by bike and stayed on our Bike and Barge boat for three nights. I’m SO glad we went, but like McDonald’s, I’m good for a decade now.
Marc, we’re so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Thoughts and prayers are surrounding our huge hugs. ❤️
Love for you to give us the links to the places you stayed and the restaurants you recommend!
So great!! Thanks!!!
Rent a car in Europe??? Yes! We have rented cars before but this last trip we thought it would be less stressful to take trains. Rome to La Spezia to Lake Como to Lucerne to Basel. So much more stressful trying to make sure we were on the right train at the right time and the right station. Had to change trains in Madrid. There were 36 different tracks of trains!!!! Having a car gave us so much more freedom and with GPS it is a very easy drive. I would do what you did and mix it up. Train because what an experience!! And then car because you have the freedom to go where you want to go. Next, we loved Venice!!! Took an evening tour of local bars for tapas and wine. Got tired of Glass Murano so tried a local wine maker and like you said, get a glass of wine and put your feet in the canal. It was soooooo magical.
So sad this series is over, but learned so much! I really appreciated the Norwegian birthday song at the end ❤ 🇳🇴
I felt the same way about Waikiki. I'm happy you went to Venice! Venice was such a magical place. That dinner with live music towards the end was so beautiful. My husband and I are hoping to get stationed in Italy someday! As for McDonald's, my husband likes to try McDonald's wherever he travels in the world because it's always different than here.
Would love to have seen three or four more episodes of the Italy trip. Bellisimo !
Loved the Italy series!,,
Thanks for another great video.
Fantastic episode!
What a great series. Love it
Great video ❤
That's my Ford man Marc! Always on your team.
Apparently my 6'7" husband would have a hard time in Europe if Marc is hitting his head all the time.
watching from the road!!
So funny not following you four on the bike run in the USA! You four are so funny in Italy! Thanks for sharing the trip!
"Sitting here with great friends -- And Bill"
Best comment of the entire video!!!!
keep the clips coming
Fun thank you for sharing your trip we can live through you won't happen in my life time your sharing is delightful!
I'm so looking forward to your videos about visits to the good old USA .
