About how much time goes into all these vids? The researching, the editing, it is all so high quality!
Absoulte legend with the support mate. This video in particular took around 2 weeks to work on. However, when they aren't as long as this one, I try to get it done within 1 week. The flow is usually write script, record footage, fix/add to script, record audio, edit video, and work on thumbnail.

The quick install from facepunch says "Disclaimer: This prevents the use of oxide/umod as it overwrites the files at startup"

Hey, this worked for me! Also, I didn't have to port forward through my modem, not sure if that's cause I use PFsense, but my modem doesn't even have an option to port forward lol.
I wanna play with my friend on the same wifi, but it doesnt work. Any idea why ? The only thing I can think of is that he is on Enthernet cable and I am on wifi.

The batch file opens and quickly closes,only creating steamcmd with "logs' and 'steamcmd' and nothing else
edit the batch file and write another line at the bottom saying "pause"
I use xfinity and for some reason I can only select what device I want to use for hosting a multiplayer server and I can't figure out how to use rust+ on it
Wish you hadnt told me about god mode.. I'm setting up my own server so i can continue to play a PVE version of Rust on my Linux OS... and now i know how to set god mode
So I am renting a server and once items hit the ground they despawn quick. Do you know how I can change this setting. I use to be able to log off and come back after a few hours to tons of horse dung but now once it hits the ground it's gone within seconds. Also if I drop an item out of my bag to my friend it also despawns. I have gone over the settings on my private server and I can not figure it out. Any help would be great thanks.
Why when i try to start the server, why does it bring up (Asset Warmup (8339/11680)ed. Consider simplifying your mesh.)

hey i dont get a second command prompt window for my server why is that?

Absolute legend, I had set up my server a while ago but this video adds up a lot of things I was missing on, but I've had a problem even since back then and tried everything to no result and gave up on it, maybe I get a solution.
What I'm trying to do is set decay variables once and for all and be applied every time I startup my server, but it keeps resetting after server restarts, and also tried the mod (NoDecay)
The variables I'm trying to set:
server.decayscale 0
server.decay.upkeep false

Note to self: You need to make the steam update and server start.bat separate for oxide to work. Updating each time you start the server seems to override the oxide files.

Can you help me please I'm trying to setup a very long length decay server I've tried various commands in the console panel which I've seen but not working
but how do you update when its time to. i spend the last 3 hours trying to get this server to lad but it keeps telling me that it needs an update event though i have went through the update process 9 times that i had to find on another video

Happy to help Geezer and that's correct. No need to purchase a server if you plan to only test or try a few things with mates. If you want it running for 24 hours you might want to invest into purchased hosting.

"Rust+ companion server connectivity test failed! Disabling Rust+ features.

That error is only an issue if you plan to use the Rust+ companion phone app for your server. If that's the case, I would recommend going though the in-depth part of the guide where I cover how to port forward and setup the rust+ app settings. Otherwise, just ignore that error as I won't hinder anything else.

Hi Jfarr. I like your videos, but I have a problem: when I try to connect to the server I'm getting the Disconnected:disconnected error message (I was setuping using One-Click install thing). Also after I tried for the first time, I've got this error in my Terminal with running file: Missing shader in Main Camera (TOD_Scattering) three times. Can somebody help me?
the shader thing doesn't matter, ignore it.
How do you make your thumbnails Jfarr?
I hop into my local server and get photos that fit the style of the video. I then go into photoshop and crop features out and try to build a good-looking thumbnail that relates to the topic. I typically can go through 2-4 designs of a thumbnail before I find one I like.
When I start up i get a lot of "referenced script on this behavior is missing" errors, another strange thing is towards teh end of startup it says couldn't load server/server1 .sav even tho it has the name and location right
How do other people join my server on the 1 click method?

Hi, all guides for creating private server say to use -batchmode parameter with explanation of the purpose "not use GUI for server". I cant find any resource about other options of this parameter. Is there some server GUI? If i remove this parameter I got and error: ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Thanks for any suggestion for finding some information about this topic.

I have a really important question. Can I host any version of rust ?
It doesn't look like you can pick a specific version. I believe you can only host servers from branches, such as the staging, pre-release, and main branch. It could be possible to find a server file online of a specific version but you would also need your game version to match which would be difficult.
@@JfarrYT Well, there is a discord which has old game files (The version after night goggles came to the game) and it has old recoil. The version runs perfectly and there are couple of servers there. I have the game files but I just don't know how to get a server file online for that version.
Could this work for old recoil servers if you change the game version the server is running on?

Hey Alexander, what kind of hardware do you have? This would drastically impact the stutters you experience. In my experience if you have only 8GB of RAM, it could be the cause of stuttering.

@@alexanderreyes2736 Not sure if you have tried this already, but you could first attempt to increase your garbage collection buffer. You can do this by pressing f1 and typing gc.buffer, followed by a value. By default it will be set to 256 MB. Try with gc.buffer 2048 and see if that helps.

when you look at the data, i think the cmd if you look at it, is in the "update state" is why you can't connect to server. so im going to wait till the update state changes

I had a few comments asking about joining my server to test on. However, I use a local dedicated server only for myself. So I thought it would be a good idea to share with others how to create their own server to test features on.
for me it shows public ip, private ip, public and private port.
i put the IPv4 for the private ip, i put public ip for public ip and idk what to put in public and private port.
why do i keep loading into a server in named amsterdam
What do i do after using the one click one and trying to load rust it keeps crashing and keeps saying "rust was not responding" and gives me the option to close the game or wait for the game to respond and every time i click wait for game to respond it just send the pop up again this never happened before. Edit and once i finally did get to load in and put in the "connect localhost:28015" it starts loading then disconnects me and says "returning to main menu got title filename and then the area i have it in
This Is an Issue with your PC, If your game freezes shows a blue loading screen and pops up "rust Is not responding" that Is due to your PC lacking proper requirements for rust.
So I have been getting a issue where it says can't establish connection with tcp XXX.XXX.X.XX:28083 but my server is set to 28015. I have double and tripple checked both my router and servers ports. Ive been able to port forward my other servers on other ports just fine. I just keep having this issue with rust. Any suggestions?
If you're port forwarding you can just do localhost:PORT, but In your case you have to change your servers port to your port you setup.

hi jfarr, how do I use home function? I made my own server and im doing lots of plugins work. but I didnt put in much, but got a lot.
I know /home add "name" e.g. but I cant use it on my server. do I have to do permissions for that or some else? thought it would work always as standard function from rust.

No, also rust saves the game every 10 min. Just make sure to log off in the game, and then on the console, if you want, type 'save', let it save, and then just close and that's it

When you open Rust do you open the Official version of rust or the RustDedicated in the download folder? Because the folder version doesnât work for me

I dont get the "rustserver" folder when i run the rust_server_complete_installer.bat file. I downloaded it via google drive, maybe its got something to do with that.
Same here. I'm getting the steamCMD folder but no rustserver folder. I run the .bat file and it opens a command prompt for a few seconds but it closes too quick for me to see what's on it.
I have a very fast PC with an m.2 so I'm wondering if I want to start a server could I just run it on there or do I need a dedicated server?
It really depends on your needs. A dedicated server is more suitable if you want to host a lot of players, keep the server online all the time, and avoid performance issues. You can either set up your own server box or rent one from a hosting service. However, if you only want to host for a few players, you can run the server on your PC. Just keep in mind that the server will stop when you turn off your PC and it might lag if you do other things on your PC.
cant add admins to my server, done as every page has said, ownerid then 64 id, editing the users.cfg and it cant recognize me as and admin
