Modern Warfare 3's Hunter Killer mission is pretty wild. Use scuba gear to plant an explosive on a submarine, get in the submarine and fight your way to the bridge, target the whole Russian fleet with the anti-ship missiles on board, and then zodiac out while the whole fleet is exploding around you. All of MW3's campaign is nutty but that mission is insane
Oh yeah.
Yea, they definitely missed that one. That mission was the sole purpose I bought the game upon release. Best COD mission of all time.
Man MW3 was so good i miss it
They forgot all guilled up too
If only one guy... A few guys could really save.... They all turned into zombies didn't they or failed to stop the zombie thing back in....
Maybe we need a concert timeline that spells it out for COD...
MW2019's house raid mission is probably my all time favorite.
The immersion is really on the spot.
Shows what modern gaming can do
Okay but that’s not over the top. That’s more grounded in reality of how it would happen. That’s what they went for
Yes, that mission was modeled after the Bin Laden raid done by SEALs and the CIA.
isnt that the mission where you grenade the child?
@@XPERTGAMER47 u need hep
@@TotallyTublier that was one house in mainland UK , that’s a negative . That’s also how SAS rolls not Seals
the mission of finding jack in rdr2 is the highest peak. The scene, the gang enters the mansion, the opera is played... it's really artistically invested. Rdr2 has very nice missions.
Only way that game gets better is if I had no previous knowledge of RDR1
ohhhh you talking about the mission at the mansion in lemoyne right? that was one of the best missions ive ever seen in any game period
Yeah that mission was dope I have a screenshot of the boys walking up to the mansion as my Xbox wallpaper lol
RDR2 has great character development tbh
Dude, how could you forget "A Quiet Time" ?
I'll just have one drink...
...
LENNEEEEEY!?!
I love the Doom Eternal Mars Core mission myself and the fact that before you teleporting to the facility that holds the BFG 10000, Samuel Hayden literally says "you can't just shoot a hole into the surface of mars" then the objective updates to "shoot a hole in mars"
It's almost comical and awesome
It is the only mission in the game where I never skip a cutscene when replaying. It is just so good at making you feel like a God.
The car chase mission on Uncharted 4 was unbelievable crazy set piece moment
So is the train mission in u2
Too bad is the only cool moment in the entire game. Uncharted 4 is inferior to U2, even U3 when it comes to set pieces.
@@mgakamedman6662 4 may not have had the best set pieces, however the game did an absolutely phenomenal job with its characters and storytelling. I think that’s more of what they were going for in the 4th one.
@@sucker632 i agree, U4 has a lot more of story telling
@@zeta1960 and the best boss fight. The sword duel is so good
Farcry 3, the weed farm burning mission always sticks in my mind as one of the greatest.
Skrillex, weed, flamethrower, perfection.
One of my favorites too.
i expected that too. but i guess thats more 'hype' than 'over the top'.
...or it was just overlooked. definitely a great mission.
Was amazing when it came out, I was so hyped then. Sadly, asi is typical for Ubisoft, they had to ruin that amazing mission by literally copying into every other FC game.
Guardians of the Galaxy is such a gem, one of those games where I just lost track of time and was fully immersed into the story, characters and bizare universe. And yes, it was amazingly over the top.
The final level of halo 3 will forever be one of the wildest levels. My best friend and I played the entire campaign coop in a night and boy hitting that last mission, sleep deprived driving the warthog as the platform is exploding all around, launching into space and crashing into the hanger of your ship- so awesome!
Same with me and my bro in both borderlands 1 and 2 end missions
There is just something about being sleep-deprived, with your best friend, and playing a game like COD or gta or gears of war and beating the game in one night
Me and my best m8 did the exact same thing as kids. We recently replayed all the games again has adults so fun
That level is one of my personal favourite levels in any game, so epic every time you get to play it
The infamous 'All Ghillied Up' mission is still my favorite. It has the right amount of action combined with thrill and filled with nervousness about being caught. I know it's old but it still I love it..
The music in that mission is perfect and eerie
It's a great mission, no doubt one of the best of all time, but I wouldn't consider it destroying the center of Mars, over the top.
Mine, probably The Ark from Titanfall 2 or the retake of Castle Shimura in Ghost of Tsushima
My most favourite
I like how the map returns as a stealth spec op in MW2
I feel like several missions from the Just Cause series could have been contenders here.
Maybe not for quality, but for being ridiculously over the top.
Riding that nuclear missile, defusing it and sending it into the bad guys house was DOPE
@@CybrosisEvolved chasing the tornado
I love Just Cause games man, they are the ultimate "start the game and see what kind of trouble I can get into" kind of games. Like with open world you got 3 types of games: the ones that push you down a mission/story like Mafia/Gta, the ones with a million side checklists to do like Ubisoft games and the truly sandbox games that let you mess around and create your own fun like Just Cause or Mercenaries or Saboteur
Just Cause doesnt even need a mission to be over the top. Just clearing enemy bases and whatnot can already be included in this list.
Putting Just Cause against any other games when we're discussing how over the top games are is cheating 🤣
Always happy to see Titanfall 2 on a list, to this day one of my favorite campaigns ever
Me to
Fuck yeah, played it twice!
It's insane that something most assumed would be a throwaway is a top 10 all time campaign.
I'm replaying it again for the 3rd time. I never miss a chance to tell someone about that game. A true masterpiece in gaming.
The best game ever
For me its the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2. I felt like thats where Sheperd's leadership was put to the test. Making sure the Normandy was fully decked out so that you can pass through the Omega-4 relay in one piece. Then selecting the right squad member for the right role in saving the Normandy crew and finally going on an all-out assault on Harbinger and the collectors. Made me really feel like I was in Sheperd's shoes. I wish I could reset my memory and play that again for the first time, it was amazing.
First time I played it I only lost 1 person, Zaeed. As I didn't have his loyalty. Made the right choices for the rest of the tasks luckily.
Even though it was just one character, It still hit me hard, since I now knew they could actually die.
Kelly did die as well though, didn't save her in time
That was an awesome mission! Made it thru without losing anyone. It felt great!
Me too. Suicide mission should be in top 10.
That’s not over the top though. This mission is exactly on the top.
It would easily for to the shortlist of best missions, but not really to this list.
Titanfall 2, a game where you could tell respawn wanted to give you a lightsaber and ask you to time travel into los santos and have a boss battle with blisk.
Gotta say that I enjoy Gameranx Top 10 lists more than any other channels, Falcons just the best for these kinda videos, keep up the amazing work guys 😜🤟
Will do, thanks.
It's because he's an actual Falcon!
Yup. Couldn’t agree more sir
@@gameranxTV Love your videos keep up the good work
He sounds like such a man, I feel embraced by masculinity. And his pronunciation is perhaps unmatched on all of CZcams.
Not really a mission, but the maze in Control was probably one of my favorite moments in video games. Highly recommend
I have to play again just because of that section holy cow
That scene was an absolute trip.
For me, its one of the last missions in Far Cry 3, where you have to fight on a airstrip, then save your friend, and afterwards get in a helicopter and shoot a minigun at all of the "soldiers", while the Ride of the Valkyries plays in the background. I remember that when i played it for the first time it gave me goosebumps and sent shivers down my spine. Just purely awesome.
I had tears of joy in my eyes when first playing this mission, like literally.
I love how when he is trying to fly the heli, your character is like "use the force!" Lol
@@safak1943 I actually died on purpose near the end of the mission just to play it one more time :D
That mission is one of the few memories I have of Far Cry 3!
The "The Force Unleashed" games have some cool set pieces, but to me, the mission where you use the Force to crash a Star Destroyer takes the cake and could be on the list
I totally agree, that came out of nowhere.
That was fucking awesome. I really wish they'd remake those games
Awesome concept, terrible execution in my humble little opinion
@@leonprowse5806 how so?
@@Delsin42 the controller movements never seemed to match the on screen prompts, the tie fighters coming in every 30 seconds to interrupt, and it took so long that it made it feel like more of a chore than an awesome moment. Maybe I'm just terrible at videogames ✌🤙❤
I enjoyed the Inclusion of gameplay with pauses in the dialogue. Would love more of that since it creates more focus on the game.
*Narration
It's nice, but felt extremely off in this video. More like it was a post script idea, than planned.
@@jessacrow9407 I second this
@@sdottwal it still sounds good tho and it’s a nice little change 🤷🏻♂️
I loved it too
That one event in Force Unleashed where Starkiller takes down a star destroyer from space.
You can see the pure mass and size of the ship as it crashes down, almost flattening you with it.
SO good
Uncharted 4: the mission where Nate and his brother jump from bike to bikes to getting chased by a tank at the end. I remember that mission just being adrenaline nonstop and didn’t couldn’t catch a breath from all the action
I would to see a Top 10 over the top CoD missions. I've played and beat every CoD to date on veteran and it would be a nice bit nostalgia to see those crazy missions again.
No Russian would def be there
Oh definitely. I hope for Black Ops 2, they cover both a mission set in the past and a mission set in 2025.
Okay but did you beat Black Ops 3 on Realistic
World at war tho?
A halo one would be nice too
Minor turbulence is an absolute classic. No doubt about it. I still have memories about it 5 years ago.
replaying it would be so fun if it wasnt for the >5 minute flight with a cropduster
That mission is boring ASF
I really like the Mission but i prefer the originally mission from GTA San Andreas. The only difference is that you drive with a motorcycle into the plane. The rest is the same.
ive always loved those set piece levels in the Uncharted games, like the big chase in the 4th game. AMAZING
Great to see Titanfall 2 getting some recognition, probably the greatest fps campaign I've ever played! (Yes, better than all the cods and bfs, if not crysis)
yea, the game is sadly too underrated(
Its sooooo underrated
I like the pause in-between dialogue and gameplay. :) Keep experimenting with it
I find it weird
Control and the Ashtray Maze! Running through that shooting hiss and all the while listening to “Take Control” by Old Gods of Asgard was just 👌🏻🤘🏻
Yeah that was so dope!
I never got that far in Control... gave up on it before that :p
@@TucBroder I totally get why you left the game, but it's so unlucky that you didn't get to reach that part, because it's probably the most memorable part of the game.
Ah yeah I just wrote this same comment :P
I'm sure most of us quit the game before that point lol
Saints Row the Third’s outta of nowhere zombie section was definitely an interesting sequence that I feel doesn’t get enough credit
That’s all I would play since I didn’t have a pc for gta mods
Some of my favorite missions in a video game were from Battlefield: Hardline. Playing as a cop, deep in the heart of Miami. From the neighborhood barrios, to the Everglades, downtown Miami rooftops, luxury mansions, it was so much fun.
Control. That mission where you have to listen to a metal song in a labyrinth was pretty over the top.
Finnish Tango! One of my favorite levels in gaming.
Forgot about that, great one!
That riverboat mission in mafia 3 was preety insane
Pretty
@@tshelby5212 repty
Yes!!!!
Yakuza 0's final chapter has probably the most exciting mission in the series. You ram through hordes of Yakuza with Nishiki, then you switch to Majima where he goes insane to try and save Makoto. Such a good mission.
👍🏼
nah that's normal. there's that one fight in yakuza 5 where kiryu fights like 60 men surrounding him at once and dodges TWO HEAT SEEKING MISSILES
Final mission in Max Payne 3. Shootout from a subway station, to a train, to a second train, to an airport, to a crazy chase scene where you down a plane during liftoff with a grenade launcher. Absolutely insane, non-stop action.
These videos are always so much better when Pe- when Falcon narrates them. Weirdly enough, I could listen to him talk for hours.
The muslide scene from Shadow Of The Tomb Raider - definitely one of Lara's best.
I'd say that, or the tsunami at the beginning where the town gets flooded.
Lol i gave up at the Jungle bridge thing to get to the civilization and never playe dit again
💯
By far the worse tomb raider game
I feel MGS Snake eater should be on this list somehow. Just climbing the ladder for a solid 15 minutes is a bold move in making a game. Might not be fun as you are doing it, but you sure wont forget it.
I just played the game Control recently and one of my favorite missions was the ashtray maze. The whole building shifts and moves as your going through it fighting the bad guys all while insane music is playing in the background.
The OG Wolfenstein 3D, last boss fight was insane when you're 7 years old and playing it 😁
Wolfenstein 3D isn't the OG
Castle Wolfenstein is the OG
@@tshelby5212 true
The final mission of Just Cause 2. Literally ends with the player having to fight a parody version of Kim Jun Un while surfing on, and disarming, nuclear missiles.
The minor turbulence mission reminds me of the San Andreas mission where you jump out of a plane, enter the other one, hijack it, then safely land it somewhere in Las Venturas. Quite hard as well lol
Haha, the only hard part is getting into the circle above the other plane... after a million tries you finally get it and then it's actually easy after that. Just like many other missions in SA
Chapter 17 and 18 makes Uncharted 3 my favorite game of all time. High octane then slow introspective desert walk. Love it.
Guardians of the Galaxy really was truly a gem of a game. Surprisingly fantastic
I’m liking number ten so far.
😎
Sup Some Guy.
@@kingshadow8782 Oh shoot, what up?
Same lol
The final mission in Kingdom Hearts 2 has to be one of the best, most over the top missions ever. Still my favorite climax in a video game to date!
I love how creatively chaotic these games can get.
Mars core is one of my favorite missions from any game ever. Had the biggest grin on my face all the way through when playing it the first time.
Was the exact same, along with consistent headbanging when fighting the DOOM Hunter and in the Slayer Gate.
I love how you genuinely show us each of the segments then being quiet like we were the ones' playing it. Unlike any other channel, they just don't let us enjoy it. lol. Love the video! 🤘
Arma 3's mission Tipping Point. It starts off with you attacking the remaining AAF trying to defeat them, one last push. Everything is going well until enemy helicopters are spotted. Your whole "team" just gets completely annihilated and you are forced to retreat and escape the island. Just the over the top turn of events blew my mind when I first played
It’s so relaxing and nostalgic feeling watching gameranx
Uncharted 3 in 3d was amazing,a special mission with plane
Personally I thought the helicopter fight on the rooftops of a Nepalese city in UC2 was pretty amazing and intense!
@@mikespike2099 Indeed, Uncharted 2 was the best one in my opinion. Lazarević was the best Villain. Real Badass!
@@mikespike2099 i find the tank battle much better
3d????
@@Person-eh9nr yes if you have 3d television uncharted supports 3d 😎
A top 10 list about over the top missions without Asura's Wrath just feels off. Either someone forgot or they've never played it and it's mind-boggingly over the top.
Loved the video. Really brought me back with Uncharted, Saints row and a few others.
loved Saints Row so much I tried to beta the game multiple times with different choices and endings... the STAG ending one is def a favorite
I thought the Rannoch mission in Mass Effect 3 was pretty crazy. You think you’re only fighting geth, until you get to the end of the mission and actually have to fight a reaper on foot.
Love the Uncharted games. But always find it funny, when you discover a door to a hidden city or tomb that hasn't been seen or opened for thousands of years. Yet on the other side is always Enemies!!
😅
Ikr?? Makes no sense lmaooo
That and the lit braziers or torches.
Thank God for Gameranx ❤️
TF2s lost ark mission was so satisfying , because u used everything u mastered in past missions while being in danger to fall off anytime , and it felt cinematic
I love this one! I personally would've picked Titanfall 2's time traveling mission, but I don't disagree with what you chose instead. Also, Call of Duty: Ghosts' first mission I believe is the one where you fight on the space station and it falls out of orbit. Thats one I'd like to see on a potential part 2.
Yes! The time travel mission was rad.
Awesome video! And lego lotr battle of the Peleanorfields is one I will always remember as being a big grazy battle, that could be in the part 2!
From a person yet to play any of the Uncharted games, I really appreciate the time the editor took to find the sequences and play them out to match Falcon's narration. You're the real MVP 😤👏
To this day that plane mission in uncharted 3 is still one of my favorite moments in gaming ever
That's my favorite as well, but have u seen Saints Row 3 airplane mission?
@@truebleu3989 never played saints row
train UC2 was better
@@Person-eh9nr both are top notch
Titanfall 2 is such an amazing game. I love everything about this mission.
I just gotta say gameranx is by far the best gaming channel out. Trust worthy reviews and actually entertaining videos about gaming also love the Friday news drop with jake. Just wanted to say I love y'all and keep up the good work
Let's take a moment to thank Gameranx for NOT going the WatchMojo route.
wdym
?
This can mean a plethora of things lol , my fist take is recycled top 10’s , with the same games .
@@isiahlozano5098 ah lol
hmm might be that
Asura's Wrath A life well lived. That game is completely insane and this mission stands out as completely nuts
It might just be nostolgia glasses but i remember one of the uncharteds when you run through a cruse ship literally capsized being one of the most memorable and over the top experiences, that one still sticks with me in the memory bank.
Love to see this a series. My favorit is in the shadow warrior remake for ps4 and xbox 1. You fight your way to your manssion get your old jump suite snd sword and get your second car, whit deamons burn your house down and you use a flack gun to shoot flying mongerals.
The mission in Bullerstorm where you have to escape from a giant mechanized wheel while riding a train.
Bulletstorm as a whole has a lot of crazy over the top missions. But this was my favorite 1.
the campaign from TF2 is so underrated. Pretty short but one of the best campaigns for a mainly online multiplayer games I've seen
I loved all the missions of Ensavled mostly the first one , I just found the concept totally amazing and all the characters as well
That Doom Eternal mission has serious "Fine, I'll do it myself" vibes
Saints Row 4’s ‘You Got the Touch’ mission is my favourite over the top mission from an over the top game
Would definetely love having Falcon's voice narrating pretty much every game review, preview, out there.
All Ghilled Up - The graphics, the Characters, the weapons, the changes of pace, the “perfectly rebuilt Chernobyl” - that mission was the GOAT
I absolutely LOVE the sound that the BFG 10,000 makes as it fires at Mars
For Marvel's Spiderman:
Not a cargo container. A generator
One over the top mission for me on a game was GTA V: the big score mission with all the craziness going on like getting to the right spot under a certain amount of time, switching the lights so you don’t get caught by merryweather having a shootout with the cops and merryweather then trying to escape. Overall it was still a intense and fun mission.
Mehhh seems pretty normal for GTA
And the paleto bay heist in gta v
For me, a crazy over the top mission was the intro mission in cod ghosts where you're in a space station fighting off enemies as the station itself blows up.
Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, and Max Payne 3 have some pretty wild missions too.
I seriously was expecting to see Crysis: Warhead's final mission, that last mission was freaking insane.
Mass Effect's 2 "Suicide Mission" always comes to mind. The stakes are high and your choices can dictate the outcome.
Many missions in all trilogy is crazy, but I guess it's not over the top since the game is Sci-fi. But SM is great and if I remember correctly, I lost only Jack in my first playthrough.
great video! would really love to see top 10 over the top moments in Call of Duty
One mission that made a big impact on me and were over the top in my opinion is from close to the end in infamous 2, when you get the last blast core. There’s a beast, capable of tanking nukes and dishing it right back chasing you around the globe. A pandemic on the brink to threaten all non superpowred humans, you just found out that your best mate is also slowly dying because of it and that you’re somewhat to blame for all this. Your last hope is to acquire the final blast core, get a power up so you can use a special device to save the entire world form the shit you’ve caused, and it’s being kept from you by an army of super soldiers juiced out of their minds and all have ice powers. There’s so much on the line, you’ve an army to fight, and then, in rolls a thunder storm giving you near limitless power to rip anyone standing in your way asunder
I'm disappointed that Metro Exodus wasn't mentioned with the mission that has another train pull up aside your train while you're in transit. That mission was badass as well.
What?! No Far Cry 3 Make it Burn Mission!!! 🔥
The Flame Thrower, the Music… the Weed 🪴
*thank you gif*
I played the first 4 games and im so happy that you put them in here
"You can't just shoot a hole into the surface of Mars!"
Objective: Shoot a hole into the surface of Mars
Hey man I am from the uk and I love ur videos I have watched u for years. Keep it up guys u r amazing
Awesome! Thank you!
Good to see titanfall getting the attention it deserves.
It actually is famous
Control, The Ashtray Maze, i love that mission, the music the amazing level design, i really like the whole game but that mission as awesome
I beat uncharted 3 in literally one night, I couldn’t put it down every time I said I would stop I didn’t. I’ll never forget that scene
First mission in battlefield 4, a building falling to the ground while you're running through it. Insane.
Yea and when you lean out the window to blow up a heli
How can you not include Control's Maze mission? The music, the effects, it's one of the best well-crafted, original segments of video games history.
Everyone I talk to that’s played the game comments on how awesome it was, I have to agree!
💯
Riding on top of missiles in Just Cause 2 was one that sticks out for me. That entire game is wild
Titanfall 2 is definitely #1 on my list of best campaigns, it immediately became my favorite the second i finished it in one sitting and wanted to play it again
Same here I still play it inbetween playing it online
There is a lot of OTT stuff in the MGS series. But I suppose it's hard to tell where missions start and end.
Can you do top 10 Storyline games that would be amazing
Thanks for the suggestion.
@@gameranxTV NP
You know you're crazy lucky when you fall out of the same plane TWICE, and still survive the 2nd fall.
The Word War Mission from AC Unity came to mind instantly when I read the title. Idk if it was over the top but it was definitly insane and unnessessarily awesome :)
That was a really sick mission!!!!! Seeing the german soldiers and stuff !
Guardians of the galaxy is so underrated
