I'm a skint angler. I make my own groundbait, farm my own worms, and tie my own hooks. It can be annoying when other anglers assume that I'm a noddy because I don't have an expensive box and a fancy fishing jacket... which makes it all the sweeter when I'm in a peg near an 'all the gear, no idea' lad, and they're struggling and I'm bagging. You can't buy watercraft.

Well said, The fish don't know how much you paid for the rod, rell or anything else Brian. The only bit that really counts is the part at the fishes end .

I had a day on the stretch near Stevenson Road last winter, unfortunately I blanked but did find some lovely looking swims. They just seemed to be devoid of fish.

another good free stretch of river is the Colne near huddersfield's football stadium for grayling - may be well worth filming this one day Jamie

great idea for a series Jamie we all like something free not far for me from leeds, im lucky not being able to drive i live about 15 minute walk from roundhay park thats free i can use my 2 wheel trolley and its all footpaths to get there also not far from a place called chippys quarry also free but its a bus ride with a couple of whips and a landing net small bag of bits and chair
Lots of good fishing in Leeds but parking the problem
Done the five weirs walk fishing many a time as a youth great memories
Had some cracking grayling

Yes mate all on the float,going back a few years tho mate,moved from Sheffield about 15 year ago so wouldn't know what it's like for grayling nowadays,have you had many out?Still get back up tho and fish we me old man
The leppings Lane stretch was decent aswell
