    Naah, I don’t see a gold mine here. I see a bunch of mostly late ‘70s- 2000s cars and trucks that have sat for a long, long, long time. People get into an environment like this and sometimes get overly exciting that they have really found a score, perceived scarcity, but they fail to realize that all of your options here are either very ambitious restorations or parts cars. If you find something you want to take on, I would never discourage anyone … but bear in mind, these are not gold; they are cars that need hundreds of hours of labor and thousands (if not tens of thousands) of dollars of new part and materials to bring back to some resemblance of good condition. In this situation, the owner/seller has things reasonably priced, but any owner seller trying to sell vehicles like these under the impression that he or she is “sitting on a goldmine” should just be avoided. The simple fact is that are more old cars and trucks requiring heavy investments of love and cash then there are people who want them, have the skillset, facilities, or are able to afford to buy them. There is absolutely no need to overpay for a project car or truck. There is a reason that so many CZcamsrs buy non running projects, get them running and maybe driving, then stop and pass the vehicle on to new owner who can advance the project forward … and that reason is to avoid investing more into the project than they can reasonably get back out of it!

      Interesting for the history more than anything being there a guy would wasn to rescue. Not a lot of demand as you said so most of it will be scrapped

      In my case, I paid around $3000 for a 1960 olds that still has all of it's parts and should run and drive with little effort and won't be too much to fully restore, I bought it only because I know that I have the skill and more importantly the cash to fully fix it up

    • @Soundsofthewood
      @Soundsofthewood Před 8 měsíci

      The problem is that people buy these and think they're worth something because "it has potential to be worth thousands of dollars".
      Truth is that owner is the only one that has the potential to make it into something. The car ain't going to fix itself.
      I like classics and all, but I walked into a project once(1969 ford galaxie) and didn't realize how much work it really would take to fully restore it.
      I ended up giving it away in the end.
      If you really want to build a classic. You need to have space,time,money,skill,patience. Also some parts you just can't buy anymore.
      Even if you fully restore it. It's probably only worth a few thousand. I know those old chevy's and Ford's ain't worth more then 7k in mint condition.
      Tbh those old trucks were nothing but beaters when I was a teen and I just can't see past that. They're still beat around work trucks in my eyes.

    That big GMC with the V6 with that funny bed on it I do believe that is a service truck for roadside tire calls. My uncle had one just like that and he had a tire service for heavy duty trucks back in the early 80s. I remember it as a kid. But then again, he could’ve bought his and repurposed it.

    I"m still fairly new to the channel so it's taken me some time to go through all the videos but this kind of video is like pure heaven to me. I think it needs to be said that there are alot of CZcams channels that do revivals of vehicles but what i feel really makes this channel special is that it's not just about getting the car running again. Yes, that's an amazing feeling when it first fires back to life. But the fact that Richard and Christina include the exploration of the property and vehicles too is really important to me. It makee me feel like i'm there with them and on a treasure hunt of a past time. To me so many people just abandon some of the nicest vehicles and what a better place to unearth but an old wrecker yard. Wow, this channel just keeps getting better and better. Thank you.

    I think that Square body in the garage might have been a diesel (Oldsmobile diesel) People would convert those to the Oldsmobile gas engine when the diesel engine wore out and of course the Olds diesel was a troublesome lot. Neat video and there are a lot of neat things in there. That candy machine is a Lance candy machine, and it is a manual unit. you put your money in and pull the knob for your selection and the snack is released for pickup. Lance would go around and get businesses to put in the machines and a local Lance distributor would service them. We had one at a place where I worked down in Tampa Fl. That was over fifty years ago (my time flies).

If I were Sue I'd get some helpers to trim the kudzu before winter gets really bad. Then get some pallets and big boxes and categorize the parts in the shop as much as possible. Call in an auctioneer and sell it by the pallet. That's what the DOD's DRMO does.

    Wow so many parts, so many vehicles. I've noticed lots of same type Ford pickup trucks. One could probably built one and drive it away. But that place is a jungle. It's just so much overgrown. It would be wise for the owner to hire cleaning crew and once the lot is cleared of the jungle, to have the vehicles arranged by body type so that buyers have access to the needed parts or potential project. That pickup truck inside the building looks solid, but how would you even get it out. The Ford pickup truck 8:30 is my favourite. You said it's flat bed, put a normal bed and there, a cool truck.

    looks like you're going strong again. :)
    aww, what a place... I would, if I could. if only to break through the underbrush and discover what was hidden there. :) would liked to have that galaxie, though. ah, anyway. I hope they can find new owners for everything. ^^
    also, kitties. =^_^=
    I'm reminded of a scrapyard I stumbled across in the mid-90's, located southeast of Munich, germany, not far away from Wasserburg, nestled beside a forest. old and new stuff, cars, trucks, bikes... a bus filled with coolers, another full of gearboxes, and a container or two full of small motorbikes. some truck axles trying to hide vertically, and somewhere inbetween what I think was a 1974 or so, Ford LTD in baby blue with same interior. still fairly complete, because I suspect it was the only one of it's kind in germany. XD
    of course the place has been long since taken down because of new environmental laws and such.

    Man, Richard! If all of that underbrush wasn't there you'd have a blast just seeing how many you could get to run. That second school bus was a 60's era International Loadstar. I'm really partial to the Loadstars like the one at 35:40. I drove one in the later 60's. They drove and handled much better than people would have thought they would. At 40:40, an engine heater in Alabama? That truck was definitely NOT from there. At 59:59, that Simpson 260 multimeter is an old electronics classic. I still have mine. There are some things a digital just cannot measure but the Simpson can. At 1:06:10, did you guys notice that really old range back there? I can imagine somebody would want that just for a display in an older home.

    • @billywird
      @billywird Před 8 měsíci +2

      Yes sir that chassis for school buses was a bread and butter piece for International. International would provide the chassis and bulkhead and the individual body builders would provide the bus body. In fact all of the commercial manufacturers do that for the commercial industry.

    I am neighbors with a couple that just moved here a year or so ago.... They got their pickup truck back they lost during one of them towing scams going on up in NY. It took 4 years in court to get the truck back. The owner of the towing company got time in jail for his efforts. They traveled back to where they used to live thinking their truck would be able to be driven home since it was nearly brand new only 8 months old when it was taken/stolen. Well the engine was gone the back axle was gone. It was sitting outside the tow yard that had been purchased by one of them chosen folks carefully place the truck on old tree stumps and some boards.
