    đŸ‘©đŸœâ€đŸ’» I'm Dr. Becky Smethurst, an astrophysicist at the University of Oxford (Christ Church). I love making videos about science with an unnatural level of enthusiasm. I like to focus on how we know things, not just what we know. And especially, the things we still don't know. If you've ever wondered about something in space and couldn't find an answer online - you can ask me! My day job is to do research into how supermassive black holes can affect the galaxies that they live in. In particular, I look at whether the energy output from the disk of material orbiting around a growing supermassive black hole can stop a galaxy from forming stars.

    i really, really appreciate that you label image sources and specifically label images that are artistic interpretations. too many science channels sprinkle in unlabeled digital paintings or similar-but-not-exact images to illustrate what they're talking about, and it's really confusing to casual viewers who don't have the knowledge to be sure if they're looking at the real thing or an approximation for illustrative purposes. visual information has a huge influence on our learning, and presenting unlabeled, inaccurate information has a big effect on incorrectly teaching us (see: basically any pop culture depictions of science in fiction media).

    • @Republican_Extremest
      @Republican_Extremest Pƙed rokem +1

      @@I_OptimusPrime I am a normal person that appreciates truth and real. I don't want an image of what an artist "thinks" it would look like. If we don't have a real depiction just say so. But that doesn't make for a good video for those who are complacent in just looking and using imagination. I'm really digging the inferred imagine closest thing to having a real depiction without actually sending something out there to see it.. I'm also annoyed at the fact that we don't have video of our planets in the solar system. Actual footage. Even Mars they time lapse send a satellite out to each planet in our solar system and send out waypoint satellites to help jump the communications so data can be sent and received at a higher rate.. it would make sense to have such things to witness impacts and other events in our neighborhood.
