  • So in this vid I show you how to remove the vacuum solenoid that controls the flap on the top of your air box. This mod is a little nicer then drilling holes in your air box, and I can put it back on if it negatively affects performance or damages the bike. I already have a No Toil Air filter and WISECO Fuel Commander installed so this mod is perfect to allow more air in your engine. I would only recommend this mod with a Fuel commander so that you can adjust your fuel air mixture accordingly to get max performance. This mod cost absolutely nothing but your time. Check out my other mods done to this bike on my channel. Definitely like and subscribe to my channel to keep up to date on all my mods completed. If you have any questions or comments please note below. Thanks for watching.

    I'd cut the top of the airbox wide open. My yz250 is wide open. As long as the fuel ratio is adjusted for more fresh air the only thing left is more frequent air filter cleaning. I think yamaha made the flapper to quiet air box noises.

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  Před 3 lety

      Ya I think it was more of an emmisions crap that certainly not needed. But I get ya. I just didn’t want to destroy the air box in case I ever decide to sell and the new owner wants to put it back to stock hehe

      @@bigair0176 less air is less fuel needed. So it would help with emissions to lean it out.

    I am curious why does everyone remove the vacuum valve. Just disconnect the hose. The valve is default open and is spring loaded. It should hold the flapper down.

    Why are you removing this part, it defaults to open position, just remove vacuum hose and plug it. Finished.

      Haha if I only knew! Just wanted a little better air flow and now that it’s removed and taped open. it works great! One thing is for sure the bike was a lot more jerky with it working. Seemed to smooth out the jerkiness of on and off throttle!

      @bigair0176  Před 5 lety

      Alex you can buy any H4 or 9003 LED bulb and it should work. You could probably buy the bulb at any auto parts store. Have you checked out my video of installing the bulb on my channel. I believe there are links in the description that you could view the bulb I bought. srmoto.com sells one as well but its quite expensive compared to amazon ones. Hope that was helpful for you bro. hi there.
    Sorry to say that my WR without AIS and without flapper has not passed the inspection because high Co2 levesl.

      @LaurenceGough Před 8 měsíci

      The AIS helps burn any unburnt fuel that happens during sudden acceleration cutoff. The flapper could impact fuel ratios but extremely unlikely to be that.

    Is there any reason you can't just tape down the flap without removing the solenoid?

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  Před 5 lety +1

      AdventureEng you could try but the selenoid is connected to the flap. Not sure how long it would hold. But the hole left on top will let more air in as well. Plus I didn’t have to drill any holes like some other guys are doing to get more air in. To many holes can let water in. In the end it’s up to you and what you feel comfortable with. I’ve had zero issues with not just this mod but all my mods done to the bike so far. Cheers

    • @bigair0176

      You mentioned before that your bike blew up?...These bikes come stock already quite lean in fuel to air mixture to help with emissions and pollution. Doing this air box mod which is minor to what I have seen. Some guys go as far as removing the whole door. I wouldn't recommend that at all. It will allow a lot more dirt into your airbox. As I mention in this video I believe I mention it would be a good idea to do the Fuel commander as well. The fuel commander helps with adding more fuel to the mixture that burns in the cylinder. Doing the airbox mod and the air filter will really lean the bike out allot. This can cause over heating or obviously it sounds like its not running right due to, too much air and not enough fuel. A Fuel commander will help with supplying more Fuel to compensate for the more air. Let me know how it goes. Also something to think about is your elevation from sea level. If you live at a high elevation your oxygen levels are leaner also. All this can play with the performance of your bike. I would try the Fuel commander and see if that helps. Here is my fuel commander link below.
